24.01.2022 Thanks to MYOB for running our Single Touch Payroll workshops here in the office. We had a great time with our clients during the training sessions. The workshops were designed to get our clients up to speed with the new STP system. Reporting via single touch payroll became compulsory on July 1, 2019. Single Touch Payroll (STP) is an ATO initiative to streamline payroll reporting. As a result of this change, you will no longer need to complete payment summaries at the end of... the financial year as your employees' payroll information will be available to them through the government's online service, MyGov. Thanks to our staff members Mel and Sam for organising the day. Please be advised Griffin Hancock & Moffitt is here to support you through this new STP process from setup, to contacting the ATO to remitting the information, please do not hesitate to contact our office on 49 260 122 at anytime to get assistance from one of our friendly team.

15.01.2022 With Tax and BAS season in full swing, we've been a little quiet over here at GHM. Here are some words of money wisdom going into the Silly season for small businesses, to keep you from getting into trouble come the new year.

14.01.2022 Rainy day? Emergency fund? How much money do you have saved?

14.01.2022 Attention All Employers Do you pay your staff on a Monday or Tuesday? Then please take note of the below information. During the 2019/2020 financial year there will be 53 weeks instead of the normal 52 weeks.... As the tax tables in the software and also manually are based on 52 pays, the extra pay may result in insufficient amounts being withheld from your employees pays. You should let your employees know when this occurs so if they are concerned about a shortfall, they can ask you to withhold the additional amount in the table below:- Extra withholding amount per weekly earnings $725 to $1,699 - Additional withholding $3/Week $1,700 to $3,499 - Additional withholding $4/Week $3,500 and over - Additional withholding $9/Week Should you be concerned or not sure if the above affects your business please do not hesitate to give our team a call.

10.01.2022 Single Touch Payroll (STP) changes how you report your employees' end of financial year (EOFY) information to your employees and the ATO. What you need to know You no longer need to provide your employees with a payment summary for payments reported through STP. You will have until 31 July to 'finalise' your employees' EOFY payroll information through your STP enabled software for the 2018-19 financial year. You can finalise this information as soon as it is ready after 30 Ju...ne. You are no longer required to lodge a payment summary annual report for the amounts reported through STP as long as you complete the finalisation declaration by the finalisation date. What you need to do You need to tell your employees: you will not be providing them with a payment summary their payment summary information will be called an income statement and is available in ATO online in myGov they will need to log into their myGov account, select ATO online services, select Employment and then Income statements to access this information if they use a registered agent to lodge their income tax return, their agent will be able to access their income statement information directly from the ATO if they don't have access or cannot create a myGov account and don't use a registered agent they can call us on 13 28 61 and we'll provide this information to them. If your employees need help creating or logging in to their myGov account and linking to ATO's online services, ato.gov.au/onlineservices You can find out more information by: viewing our STP end of financial year factsheet and other useful resources at ato.gov.au/STPresources speaking to us here at GHM
