16.01.2022 Business & Employment Matters Covid 19 The Covid 19 health pandemic has led to businesses being in unchartered waters in many areas including determining employee entitlements in differing situations, workplace health and safety laws, stand down options and issues surrounding the implementation of the ever changing State and Federal Government restrictions regarding social distancing and isolation. The current landscape is constantly and rapidly changing. The Government ha...s over the last month, introduced various stimulus packages to assist small businesses, employees and the unemployed. The Fair Work Commission has made changes to some Awards and is considering changes to over 130 other Awards this week. The major and most important announcement for small business and employees, is the announcement last week of the JobKeeper scheme. This scheme has significant benefits for small business and employees and all businesses should be obtaining legal and accounting advice as to whether such a scheme could be applicable to their business. Knowing whether you can access the JobKeeper scheme will have important ramifications as to how you deal with your staff members moving forward and what you must do with employees that may have already been stood down or made redundant.
