25.01.2022 The ABC is looking to commission a series of articles by writers with a disability from across Australia. NO PREVIOUS WRITING EXPERIENCE necessary. This is a paid opportunity to write a digital article about disability it can be about anything, as long as it’s non-fiction and an original idea. Who: To be eligible you must live in Australia, be over 18, have a disability and be available to work on your article in October/November. You do not need to have previous writing ex...perience. What: We want you to pitch an ideas for a digital article about disability it can be about anything, as long as it's non-fiction and your original idea. It could be your lived experienced, an issue you see affecting your community, a stereotype you want to dispel or a celebration of life as a person with a disability. If your idea is successful, you will work with an editor in October/November to write an 800-word digital article that will be published by the ABC online. You will be paid for the article. 21.01.2022 Without doubt, 2020 was a unique year. Going into lockdown in March followed by imposed Covid-19 restrictions made catching up with one and another challenging. While the wait for a ‘return to normal’ continues, we still achieved plenty over the course of the past 365 days. Between now and December 31 we’re going to relive five moments that helped make 2020 our most creative and innovative year ever. In no particular order, we head back to February for our fifth birthday.... On Thursday 13 February over 60 buddies took over Surry Hills’ Shakespeare Hotel. We were still there gone past midnight - not bad for a school day!

13.01.2022 National Volunteer Week is almost upon us and to celebrate this year we’re calling on Sydney-based buddies to help inspire those located on the Central Coast. As you may know, we recently launched Gig Buddies Central Coast. We’re excited to connect with buddies and volunteers within the region - and to mark National Volunteer Week we’re calling on our Sydney-based buddies and volunteers to share your stories, quotes and photos. We’ve written five questions, all intended for y...ou to talk about your experiences with Gig Buddies. The plan is to share your clips via our social media channels during National Volunteer Week, Monday 17 May to Friday 21 May. This means we’d need to receive videos before Monday 10 May. If you would like to share your stories and inspire buddies based on the Central Coast, leave your name in the comment section below

Team Gig Buddies Cymru (), in collaboration with Dev - bassist from British rock band IDLES - have revealed details of a stellar fundraiser Taking place on Sunday 20 June, Dev has organised an incredible evening of music and comedy, featuring: Comedy from Stewart Lee, Seann Walsh, and Josh Weller.... Music from Mclusky, Fenne Lily, Willie J Healey, TV Priest, DOGEYED, and Wilderman There will also be a raffle with prizes from The National, Mogwai, Sharon Van Etten, Beak>, Slowdive(band), Big Jeff Johns Art and more - plus a guitar that will be signed from all the acts playing the online gig. The event will be streamed from Exchange in Bristol on Sunday 20 June. 10.01.2022 International Day of People with Disability is almost upon us (3/12), and in line with this year's theme of disable stereotypes we’re asking buddies to take to the camera and record themselves answering the following two questions: - What is a stereotype you have experienced in relation to your disability? - Why is this stereotype incorrect?... We’re looking to make a video for December 3, and we’re asking for all clips to be submitted by this Wednesday (26/11). Without doubt it’s been a challenging year, but we feel our community has only gotten stronger as a result. 01.01.2022 Last week we concluded our Christmas parties. Following first week events in Surry Hills, Randwick, Chatswood, Campbelltown and Erskinville, we connected with another 82 buddies as we took the party to Macquarie Park, Castle Hill, Dee Why and Oatley. In total we caught up with 197 buddies across the nine events - a phenomenal achievement given the current restrictions.
