24.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE: 2 December 2016 Australian musicians amp up national protest against ABC Radio National music program cuts In a collective show of might Australian musicians and Radio National listeners will congregate at ABC Headquarters and other major civic points around the country to stage busk protests against the imminent axing of six Radio National music programs, ‘The Daily Planet’, ‘The Inside Sleeve’, ‘The Live Set’, ‘The Rhythm Divine’, ‘Jazztrack’ and ‘Soundpost...’. The protests are to show the ABC Board and Management the irreversible damage to the success of independent music in both regional and metro areas that these axings will cause. It is a plea to reverse their decision for the continued success of the Australian music industry and for the benefit of regional listeners to music they may have no other way of accessing. Musicians and Radio National Listeners are invited to enlist their support for the protests on Friday 2 December, Saturday 3 December and Thursday 8 December via the contacts below. Musicians are invited to contact the local coordinator to participate and RN listeners are invited to support the busk protests by lending their voice, literally, to the events.
