23.01.2022 Some girls would see this two-portion lunchbox and replace the lid and stick it back in the fridge once portion number one had been eaten. This is not me. I am not some girls. #icaneatarainbow... #whatsaportion See more
22.01.2022 I really wish they’d colour code these things #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday #evenonmonday
22.01.2022 A great, thorough training session can run anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour...time doesn’t necessarily dictate the effectiveness of your training. Two hours in the gym is not the only way, although long sessions have their place, too. Some forms of training are so intense they’re not possible ( or advisable) to sustain for very long. And, if you’re new to exercise, de-conditioned, or working beyond your usual level a short, tough session can be more than enough - a w...ell-designed 20 minute AMRAP can leave you feeling as spent as if you’d just run 10kms. What really count towards the success of your workouts are intensity; volume; work to rest ratio; load...all of these in various combinations are what create different exercise protocols, each useful depending on what you want to achieve. Trust your coach and their programming...and if you’re short on time, let us know and we can program a quick n dirty for you! #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday
21.01.2022 When ringleading and adulting are challenging on a Monday, it’s a day for hot drinks in sippy cups. Coaches orders! Thank you, Durston Family, for my lovely gift #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday #evenonmonday
20.01.2022 Is it second breakfast time or is it early lunchtime? Hard to say...either way, it’s delicious and I’m eating it! Happy weekend, everyone! #icaneatarainbow
19.01.2022 It’s called ‘the bend and snap!’ Actually, no it’s not, it’s what you get when you ask someone to take a pic then they make you laugh and you have a coughing fit. Just proves that a/ you can make anything into an exercise and b/laughing is good for your stomach muscles! Happy Saturday, everyone #trainyourbodyforlife #saturdayshenanigans... #incidentalexercise See more

15.01.2022 Physical readiness is very different to mental readiness. You can be injury-free and bodily excited to get started on a new fitness regime but if you’re not mentally ready, it ain’t gonna happen. I’ve had numerous clients who, after their initial enquiries, have vanished into the woodwork, basically ghosting me! And then, one day, out of the blue, they’ve made contact again, scheduled an appointment and begun training with me regularly. Like magic! Except it isn’t magic - it’...s the way our minds work. Sometimes there are a few false starts between the decision-making and the implementation or action, due to mental blocks, fatigue or just life’s little roadblocks. And that’s okay. Exercise works better when both mind and body are in sync. I’m not going anywhere - I’ll be here when you’re ready to begin #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday See more

14.01.2022 Fitness tip #57: Figure out what you like to do for exercise, then go do it. A lot. #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday
14.01.2022 Love is... ...racking your weights and stripping the bar when you’re done ...bringing your gym buddy coffee or cold water ...eating like an adult 80% of the time ...remembering and celebrating all the bits of you that you love ...always having something green on your plate ( except kale, that stuff can just wither up and die) ...doing something heart-starting every damn day... ...training because you love your body and you want it to love you back #trainyourbodyforlife #trainyourbodyforlove #everydamnday See more
14.01.2022 On a list of priorities while exercising, breathing should be pretty near the top! It sounds completely obvious but so many of us forget the in and out bit - how many times have you finished your set ( or your round or your interval) and realised you’ve been holding your breath? I do it all the time when I’m trying to speak and demonstrate an exercise at the same time and it’s really counterproductive! At best you’re out of breath and therefore not working at your most effe...ctive, and at worst, holding your breath can drive your blood pressure sky-high and cause you to become light-headed, faint ( and possibly drop your weights ) Efficient breathing will actually help you move/lift: inhale on the easy part and exhale on the hard part of the exercise, using your breath to help you lift the weight or move your body. It takes a little practice and can be very entertaining for your training partners but you’ll take longer to fatigue and retain more control once you’ve mastered it. Breathing is life, y’all! #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday
13.01.2022 I told Mr D last week that this week would be ‘Big Week’ - big sets, big weights, big gains. So he saved the best for last - a 10kg PR to take his squat to a nice, round 100kg!! Do the work, trust the process, enjoy the results #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday... #mrrockd See more
12.01.2022 ‘Will ab work make my muffin top disappear?’ NO! No, it won’t!! That myth just needs to curl up and die. Ab work ( the right kind) will give you strong abs. It will help you support your lower back and make movement, lifting and carrying easier and safer. It may even make your ‘six-pack muscles’ appear more...um...six-pack like! But, getting rid of the over-the-waistband roll and gaining some definition takes a combo of weight training, cardio and the right nutrition. And it... won’t necessarily disappear from where you want it to first...your body has it’s own ideas about that! But, with dedication, time and patience, you’ll get there. I’m making mine my Summer project #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday See more
11.01.2022 Snack tip #27: the more accessible your snacks are, the more likely you are to eat them. So, store any snacks you DON’T want to eat far, far away: in a high cupboard, in the freezer, buried at the bottom of the veggie bin. And, make the snacks you wish to eat as easy to see and to grab as possible. Laziness can truly outweigh the desire to eat junk #icaneatarainbow
11.01.2022 Love him or not, Arnold Schwarzenegger definitely knew what he was doing when it came to bodybuilding. He once said ‘focus on your flaws’ and would wear short shorts when he was training as a reminder to keep working hard on improving what he saw as his weakest area, his legs. While I’m all for doing exercise that you enjoy, it’s also important to work on some of the stuff you don’t love so much as this is usually an area of weakness - we tend not to enjoy what we struggle with. And to be truly, well-roundedly strong, fit and healthy, we need to be working on our weaknesses more than our strengths. And honestly, the more often you do it, the easier ( and more enjoyable) it becomes. Who knows, one day your former weakness may end up being your greatest strength #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday
11.01.2022 That’s a wrap! The final Saturday group session for 2020. It takes a special kind of person to be upright and ready to exercise at 6.30am on a Saturday, even more special to be able to crack a joke and sledge your teammates while swinging a kettlebell or pushing a bar over your head! This crew ( plus a few more not pictured today) are those special kind of people. They’ll totally put each other down for the sake of a good laugh but they’re the most fiercely loyal and supporti...ve bunch of people you could meet. Throughout this very strange year, they’ve looked out for each other, looked forward to seeing each other in sessions, encouraged each other while working towards and achieving their own individual goals. I’m proud to be the facilitator and ringleader of this bunch of legends and so happy they all found their way to me! #weekendwarriors #mycircusmymonkeys #findyourtribe See more
10.01.2022 When you’re learning something new, it can take hours and hours of practice before you’re competent, let alone expert - expert takes 100s of hours! 07.01.2022 The gym is one place where you’re allowed to be totally self-absorbed. What I mean is, it’s perfectly okay just to focus on you, I DON’T mean hogging the equipment or the mirrors or ‘forgetting’ to rack your weights or wipe your sweat, that’s just bad gym behaviour. The more single-mindedly focused you are, the more effective your training session will be and the higher your chances of reaching your goals. You’ve made the time to be there so use it wisely and completely and ...make it all about you! You can go back to being your caring, generous, selfless self after your training session is done #trainyourbodyforlife #everydamnday See more
