23.01.2022 Did you know, 1 in 4 South Australians suffer from Arthritis?

21.01.2022 We are lucky to have these guys supporting regional communities.

20.01.2022 SA-BEST supports the Marshall Government’s new laws to mandatory detain drug-addicted children and young people for up to 12 months but they don’t go far enough. https://sabest.org.au//state-governments-mandatory-detent/

19.01.2022 Beautiful day in Meningie

17.01.2022 Good turn out for the SA Best volunteer forum's today, helped along by some yummy scones.

14.01.2022 If the State Government is serious about introducing rate capping legislation, and believes it is in the best interest of the state and ratepayers despite the... opposition to it - it should have no fears in having the Productivity Commission investigate and then report its findings. https://sabest.org.au//sa-best-pushes-for-states-new-prod/ See more

10.01.2022 For all the fellow riders heading north for the Finke

10.01.2022 DEFENCE STILL THINKS ASC CAN’T BUILD A CANOE Today in Senate Estimates I asked Defence at what point they decided our Australian ship and submarine builder, ASC..., was not going to be the builder of our Australian Future Submarines. It became very clear in my exchange with them that the Government and Defence have never wanted the Adelaide-based ASC to build the new subs. They set up the entire procurement process to exclude ASC in what they claimed to be a risk minimisation strategy. Even when the French designers, Naval Group, proposed to work with ASC, Defence told them to go another way. In no other Western industrialised country would the Government actively oppose the involvement of its own shipbuilder in a key naval construction project; but that’s what has happened here. They want to scrap all the accumulated expertise, skills and knowledge built up at ASC and have a foreign shipbuilder start from scratch. The Canberra Defence bureaucrats simply don’t trust Australian workers. They don’t trust Australian managers. They have no faith in or commitment to our own industry. They want Australians to be employed, but only under close foreign supervision. Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne claims this will be the foundation of an Australian sovereign naval shipbuilding capability. The evidence reluctantly given to the Senate shows that is rubbish. It’s clear the Coalition Government’s position has not changed one iota since former Defence Minister Johnston infamously said he wouldn’t trust ASC to build a canoe. They have betrayed ASC, they have betrayed Australian shipbuilders, and they have betrayed our country.

06.01.2022 I am determined to see better consumer health information made available - and IVF is an area that desperately needs more transparency. At the moment, consumers... and taxpayers (through Medicare) fork out about $10,000 for a treatment cycle but have NO IDEA if their clinic is among the best or worst performers. Did you know that the top performing clinics cost Medicare about one-third of the cost for 100 live births than the lowest-performing clinics? Would-be parents should have this information, not be kept in the dark and paying for cycle after fruitless cycle. They have a right to know! See more

06.01.2022 Questions raised by SA’s Centre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick confirms what we’ve long suspected about ASIC - that it isn’t the active regulator policing bad co...rporate practice it is mandated to be. Fewer investigations and fewer prosecutions tell me it’s taken its foot off the pedal. After revelations at the Banking Royal Commission, this needs to be reversed. 05.01.2022 It's great to see new regional medical services being established in the smaller communities that usually miss out.

05.01.2022 The State Government needs to wake up and get tough on the ice epidemic raging in South Australia New data released today is damning, and a sad and worrying i...ndictment on the SA’s current programs targeting our ice epidemic and further establishes our unenviable reputation of being the ice capital of the country. Whatever the programs are, it’s obvious they aren’t working. Much more needs to be done The Liberal Government has to wake up. What is it going to take before it gets tough on this ice scourge in SA a workplace death, or worse, a workplace catastrophe caused by a worker under the influence of methamphetamines. SA’s shameful ice epidemic not only impacts directly on individuals, but the flow-on effects our health and corrections systems, family violence, community safety and crime. Our door is open if the Marshall Government wants to get tough on the ice scourge and learn more about our proposal which is based on a successful rehabilitation approach in Sweden where their levels of ice use are dramatically lower, and also involves intensive support once people are out of the facility and into the community and back with their families. https://sabest.org.au//time-for-state-government-to-get-t/ See more
