23.01.2022 Because this morning was just too good not to share twice @ Armidale, New South Wales

19.01.2022 Nothing like a brew stop after some spicy bike efforts. Tiny ted knows what’s up!

18.01.2022 THIS excited to be back in Brisbane! #mossperformance

18.01.2022 29th June 2014. Chicago. My first @worldtriathlon race. An unforgettable opportunity and experience.... 2020. The first year in 7 years that I won’t have the privilege of racing a WTS race. While it sucks, I’m hoping that the time away will allow me to toe the line with the same renewed vigour and gratitude that I had in that first race, when COVID allows us to play again.

17.01.2022 Perfect spot for a picnic, shame about the sun #whereiride

17.01.2022 Took my MTB on an adventure up Mt Duval - something I’ve wanted to do since forever. More beautiful than I’d expected (and fortunately not as steep). Sadly ran out of daylight to ride for as long as I’d wanted. Frothing to go back and ride it again!

17.01.2022 Climbs, you either love them or you hate them and I for one, LOVE them! I love the challenge, I love the burn, I love the view you get from the top. Sometimes it's just about getting up to the top, other days it's how fast. https://gillianbackhouse.com.au//06/for-the-love-of-climb/

16.01.2022 Not much beats roads like these for a Sunday long run to finish the week! #sundayrunday #longrun @ Armidale, New South Wales

16.01.2022 Thumbs up, it’s Thursday! Obviously this is a #throwback to pre-corona times. This was at the end of one of my all-time favourite sessions - a hilly technical TT loop out the back of Samford which we paired with some ripper 1km ROB reps. I miss those days like crazy, and I miss my training buddies too. I long for the good old days but I know that this hard time will pass. Things won’t go back to the way they were before, but the way is forwards and the future holds many gre...at things too. #memories #mossperformance #momentum #forwards

16.01.2022 Salty sweaters like me! This is why it’s important to change your bar tape regularly, not just when it wears out. Even (especially) if it’s great quality long lasting stuff like @supacaz. The salt crystallises underneath your bar tape and builds up like this. If you don’t change your tape and clean your bars the salt can actually corrode the bars leading to structural weakness!

14.01.2022 The coffee comes everywhere now, man #coffee #friday #willrideforcoffee #mtb #explore

14.01.2022 Obligatory chapel shot #happinesswatts #whereiride

14.01.2022 Mornings like this are why I get out of bed #frosty #whereiride #whyiride

13.01.2022 Look mum, I’m training hard

12.01.2022 Some days (weeks, months...) can be truely forgettable, seemingly filled with never ending mistakes, blunders, and things going wrong. It’s all too easy to get stuck in a rut and keep perpetuating things. We need to be able to accept it, let it go, and move on but sadly that’s easier said than done! I very much had one of those weeks this week, and it had me down for a couple of days. But reflecting on what I’ve learned over the last few months helped me avoid the rut I’m all... too familiar with. Have a read of my blog post - Tomorrow is a new day, but today is where the magic happens http://gillianbackhouse.com.au//tomorrow-is-a-new-day-but/

10.01.2022 "Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?" Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery It's fair to say that Tuesday was a pretty rubbish day. In fact Monday wasn't great either.Fatigue (probably a bit of stress too), and a couple of errors of judgement (thanks largely to said fatigue) had me in a blubbering mess by the time I hit the gym after my morning swim session. 09.01.2022 I’d usually prefer to get a trusty bike mechanic like My Bike Shop to do the dirty work for me, but it’s always a good idea to know how to do simple fixes and maintenance on your bike yourself, especially when you travel as much as I do! I broke a cable today and didn’t have time to head to the bike shop as adventure awaits tomorrow morning!

09.01.2022 Cat’s well and truely out of the bag now... in just under 35hrs I’m (finally) lining up for my first 70.3! But who’s counting Currently the excitement is far outweighing the nerves but both are high!!! Witsup is pulling together some coverage for us, it’s guaranteed to be awesome.... Live coverage starts from 5:40am AEST this Sunday onwitsup.comm FB page

08.01.2022 Will climb for views, always! While the cold frosty mornings of the last couple of months have been quite a novelty, it’s so nice the be back in sunny QLD and able to feel my fingers and toes again! Back with my support crew and some face to face with @moss.stephen; training is beginning to get a bit more serious #mossperformance #triathlon #sunshinestate

08.01.2022 It takes little introduction to tell the tale of 2020. As athletes we train to race but with racing gone I found the only way to go on was to train for the sheer enjoyment of it. Fortunately, we were able to see season 2020 out with a mini race block! http://gillianbackhouse.com.au//2020-return-to-racing-par/

05.01.2022 Wednesday morning Rockvale thermos coffee stops are becoming a ritual... this week I even made a friend!

03.01.2022 Today’s living out of my car hack: always pack togs... Beach shower post training

03.01.2022 Big loop for a big 29!

03.01.2022 "A life without challenge, a life without hardship, a life without purpose, seems pale and pointless. With challenge come perseverance and gumption. With hardship come resilience and resolve. With purpose come strength and understanding." Terry Fallis I love a good challenge. It's what drew me to triathlon. It's what keeps me in triathlon. It's what gets me out of bed and through the toughest days and turns the downright daunting to exciting. [ 1,168 more word ] http://gillianbackhouse.com.au///20/the-challenge-mindset/

01.01.2022 Sometimes it’s the insanity of it all that gets you through... @sailfish_triathlon #fortheloveofswimming @ Dumaresq Dam

01.01.2022 Let me take you on one of my all time favourite run loops! Only a very light dust of frost this morning but the fog was magical
