24.01.2022 Our Joshua Maunder never stops - check out his opinion piece below... #neversleeps #zappalatropicals #opinionpiece

24.01.2022 Very very lucky to have spent some time on the gorgeous Overland Track in Tasmania earlier this year. Our last night on track was at Echo Point - a stunning spot. It was amazing to see how well utilised the infrastructure on track is - and how well established, maintained and 'fit for purpose' the majority of the infrastructure is. ... Take me back!

24.01.2022 We recently got to inspect a Limestone Mining Operation. This is the first step in producing the fine white powder we know so well as 'ag lime'. Pictured here is a Cat excavator digging material won from a recent blast prior to it being crushed, screened and bagged.

23.01.2022 The view from kunyanyi, Mt Wellington, Hobart, Tasmania... On our last day in Tasmania we travelled to the top of the mountain and froze! It was about 4degrees at the summit, windy and bitterly bitterly cold, but stunning. Tremendous history, stunning landscape and the most amazing water from the little waterfall on the way. ... It was awesome to see so many people using the park for a variety of active pursuits, such an amazing space so close to the heart of Hobart.

22.01.2022 Atherton on the Tablelands looked amazing from the top of Mt Baldy on a gorgeous day recently.... #FNQlife #lovewhereyoulive

20.01.2022 Gorgeous Lake Eacham... During a recent walk around the lake, we spotted turtles, a snake, fish and a number of birds in addition to friendly scrub turkeys. Another amazing part of FNQ!

18.01.2022 Did you know... In addition to helping our clients with town planning applications, we regularly provide assistance in road closures, road permits and other tenure-related matters. If we can help you with a road closure or other tenure related matter, give us a call today.

18.01.2022 Spending all day looking at plans, it is great to see completed projects.

17.01.2022 Cairns Regional Council recently endorsed its COVID-19 Response - Investment Incentive Policy. The Policy is intended to stimulate development and construction activities, and has effect until 30 June 2022. Incentives are on offer for small scale residential activities, or development in identified precincts. Larger scale catalytic development may also, subject to Council consideration, be benefited by assistance. Give us a call if you would like to discuss the incentives on offer.

17.01.2022 This site was doing double duty - water source and resource! #plannersontheroad #loveourjob #FNQlife

16.01.2022 The repurposing of historic infrastructure is not a new idea, but it is awesome to see it happen regardless. On the Atherton Tablelands, former railway corridors have become active spaces, used for hiking, riding, horse-riding and recreation more broadly. On a recent trip to check out Carrington Falls near Atherton, it was great to see how many people used and enjoyed these areas (it was difficult to grab a photo with no people in it!).

16.01.2022 We are occasionally blessed with those perfect days! This was the view on a recent site visit for a project we are working on in FNQ. Incredibly lucky!

13.01.2022 Sometimes, despite the best planning (pun intended) site inspections don't quite go to plan! Poor Josh in our Babinda office recently got caught in a sudden drenching whilst working closely with one of our Ag clients.

13.01.2022 Did you know?? Cairns Regional Council is proposing amendments to its Planning Scheme, CairnsPlan 2016. The Scheme sets out Councils' intentions for future development in the Scheme area for the next 20years. ... Consultation on the Amendment package currently proposed commences tomorrow, 17 November 2020, and ends on 31 January 2021. Give us a call if you would like to discuss the Amendments, or the Scheme and planning issues more generally...

13.01.2022 Babinda is an amazing place to live and work, with a vibrant community spirit... Last year we were grateful to sponsor the Babinda Harvest Festival, a celebration of our local community. Each Festival has a theme, and schools, our hospital, businesses and community organisations celebrate with a procession of floats, tractors, trucks, emergency vehicles and private cars new and old followed by a night of celebration - arts and crafts, food and drink. ... #GPlan #lovewhereyoulive #babindathefriendlytown #babindaharvestfest

12.01.2022 On a recent morning walk, this looked initially like a dog... Hmmm another feral pig in paradise. #nothappyjan #FNQlife

11.01.2022 A recent trip to Bundaberg, and a quiet morning walk with coffee... How gorgeous is this?

11.01.2022 7years ago, Renee St John joined Gilvear Planning... Given the impossible task of organising all of the important parts of the business (the stuff required for the team to do their jobs!), Renee has taken care of everything we needed, and more. Mum, Wife, Farmer, Office Manager, organiser, task manager, friend and overall amazing lady - thank you Renee for all you do for us, we hope you are having a great day, and look forward to celebrating more work anniversaries (and other... reasons to have a party) with you in coming weeks, months and years. Thank you

09.01.2022 Changes in Dickenson Street, Carina circa early 1960's (top) and April 2019 beneath. A lot more street trees to say the least. (source: John Meara from Old Brisbane Album and Google Street view).

08.01.2022 Did you know??? While on tour in 2018 we visited Gananoque, which allowed us to travel through the 1000 Islands Region. Amazing landscapes, bitterly cold on the water, and a variety of architectural styles for the houses on the water. We could not help but marvel at not only how close these places were to the water, but how difficult it must have been and continue to be in terms of construction and maintenance. ... #gplan #townplanning #2018studytour

07.01.2022 Two years ago today, the phenomenal Josh Maunder started with Gilvear Planning... After an adventurous start to his first day (I mean, come on Josh, you didn't die right?) Josh has become an integral part of our team. Josh has aced every challenge thrown at him over the last couple of years. He provides calm, measured and solid advice, to our clients and to us - as well as dropping some cracker one liners into everyday conversation oh so quietly. ... Thank you Josh, for everything. We hope you have a great day, and look forward to celebrating properly with you soon.

07.01.2022 Now that's a Stable building! We recently helped another client in the rural sector obtain the necessary Planning Approvals to develop new Horse Agistments near Gordonvale.

06.01.2022 Great to see the Gordonvale Sugar Mill crushing hard! Is there anything better then the sweet, sweet smell of raw sugar?

05.01.2022 Another perfect day in paradise... Port Douglas, Far North Queensland - public infrastructure providing a different view of a stunning part of our coastline.

05.01.2022 The view from Mount Coolum on the weekend. The Sunshine Coast is incredibly green and it is so nice to see the neat little pockets of development set amongst the vegetation, which you can't fully appreciate until you are above it.

05.01.2022 Another incredible day in Far North Queensland... Occasionally you have those "pinch yourself" moments when you realise how lucky you are to do what you do. We are lucky and have them pretty regularly (to off set the teeth gnashing moments!).... This was one of those - a gorgeous day, a little cloud, a little sun, a trip down the river - what more could you ask for?

05.01.2022 The importance of presentation... Earlier this year we received approval for 11 Townhouses and an Office in Wellington Point. This perspective makes a huge difference in how projects are presented to Council - with 2D plans not always properly reflecting the depth or articulation. Designed by Mode Architects.

05.01.2022 From a dis-used Firefighting Station to a...... We recently helped a client obtain the necessary Planning Approvals to re-use this long un-used Firefighting Station. Watch this space!

05.01.2022 Check out the article by our Josh Maunder published in the Local Babinda News - Page 9 - August 2020 Edition - @Aus-Ex Fruit

05.01.2022 Last year we had the chance to spend a few days in Mount Surprise - it is easy to feel insignificant in this amazing part of FNQ, with endless landscapes and a horizon that seems to stretch forever... #Gplan #loveFNQ

04.01.2022 Last month, on site working through the final compliance actions for a combined Multiple Dwelling and subdivision in Morningside. We often work with developers, builders and project managers through the construction phase to ensure the development that is constructed reflects the development approved to reduce the potential for compliance actions or changes to approvals at the end of development. To avoid delayed settlements, contact our team who can assist in delivering the development without delays!

04.01.2022 Ahhh Hinchinbrook.... This shot was taken off the highway, up a little track that looks like it goes nowhere. #plannersontheroad #exploringFNQ #gplan #roadtrip

04.01.2022 In town last year for the #QELARegionalIntensive2019, we captured this snap of a stunning sunset over Rockhampton... #QELA #GPlan #planningnerd #lucky
