11.01.2022 When was the last time you tested your safety switch? Today we arrived at our client's home to install some smoke alarms and found that both of their safety switches had failed. For roughly an hours effort, we were able to replace all their circuit breakers to individual safety switches, now ensuring their protection throughout their home. ... Remember to test all of your safety switches when you receive your electrical bill and if you find any that do not test properly, we will be happy to assist. They may also be in homes where the occupant has medical home care. Review any of your work since 1 July 2017 that involved installing Clipsal 10mA socket outlets and service panel RCDs. Let the home or business owner know about the risk of electric shock and advise them to contact Clipsal to arrange rectification. 05.01.2022 5 reasons why you should be using SPDs (Surge Protection Device) in residential switchboards 1 Aussie homes have an estimated $15,000 worth of electronics u...nprotected against voltage surges. Traditional appliances like TVs and fridges are becoming smarter every day with lots of new sensitive electronic components inside them, which may be more at risk of surge damage. 2 Lots of home insurance policies don’t cover for all types of voltage surges. Getting an SPD installed could be cheaper for homeowners than even paying excess, in case of surge damage to their appliances. 3 Surge protected extension cords or powerboards only offer limited protection (and only for the devices connected to them). What about smart appliances such as washing machines, dryers and stoves that are normally plugged directly into standard powerpoints? 4 More people are working from home than ever before, storing critical business info on their desktop computers and laptops. SPDs can help prevent data loss from potential voltage spikes. 5 It’s simply not worth the risk. One SPD helps to keep all harmful surges out of your customer’s home, and can help give you (and them) peace of mind. More on our SPD product range: https://bit.ly/2YGoeFx
