25.01.2022 Dancing at 5pm today. Were going trance this week. Trance is home for me, the place where time and space dissolve and the dance becomes a series of meaningless repetitive shapes that come together like an orchestra to reveal some utterly gorgeous whole, one I can never see in the little pieces, but when it lands, oh my. Something clicks and each movement becomes imbued with exquisite sensitivity. After two months' hiatus from teaching (I was recording my album), I'm back to bring a 5rhythms online workshop on Archetypes of Power in September. 23.01.2022 Together is a unique and beautiful place to process the impact of the last couple of months of crisis, supporting ourselves and each other, dancing what is true. How do we clear our in tray when the impact of ongoing emergency floods our nervous systems, and goes on day after day? How do we move the buildup in our bodies so that we can keep going, keep some modicum of hope, clear a space in our heavy hearts? Everywhere I go Im encountering people in the aftermath of grief ...and overwhelm as a result of the fires that have torn through our country. With the coming of some rain, there is a new movement, finally being able to relax a little, and with that comes the influx of sensation as we start to process and integrate this huge experience, start to clear the backed-up in-tray. Everyone I talk to knows someone deeply affected, or are deeply affected themselves. We are a community in process. This event feels incredibly timely. This mini-workshop is a held space where each person can process their own individual story, in the bigger basket of a group moving in awareness, together. This is your chance to move what is true, to shake off and shake through the metabolites of cortisol, the impact of the images weve all seen of humans and environment and wildlife devastated by fires. This is a place where we can create a living artwork, turn our suffering into art. Where we can call out from our bones, that which moves us, that which we wish to call into being... And then dance it.

21.01.2022 THIS THURSDAY 28th MAY is the last Gigi 5Rhythms bootyshake for at least a month. Due to restrictions easing I no longer have a venue and living on a mountain off grid is amazing except when you need reliable power and bandwidth. At the moment I need to pause the classes while I sort out a feasible way to run them! So Thursday is going to be a big one, our farewell-for-now. THIS CLASS IS GOING TO BE A 90 MINUTE LYRICAL TRANCE WAVE. Its called Wings of Trance and I cant wait... to dance it with you. It will need to last us for the next few weeks until I can find another venue. So if youve been wanting to bring a friend along, or if youve been thinking about coming to dance but havent quite made it yet, Thursday at 5pm is your last chance for a while. Id like to thank all the gorgeous dancers who have joined this little tribe; its been a humbling and beautiful experience holding space for you during this time. 20.01.2022 Last Friday was a special EnTrance. 50 people gathered for a medicine dance. A medicine dance is where we dance for that which is greater than us. This medicine dance was in response to the communitys grief and compassion around the devastating fires ripping through NSW and Queensland. Our country is screaming for rain. This dance was to bring awareness into the water inside and outside us, to rebuild connectivity with the earth, this glorious blue jewel we call home. It wa...s to dance for those affected by the fires, and most of us know people who have lost their homes or even their loved ones. Many, many more are in the path of the fires, and until we get proper soaking rain, these fires will burn for months. The gorgeous Kate Rydge recently shared a ritual for calling water, from her Yolgnu family in Arnhem Land. Its a simple enough practice; to take mouthsful of water and spit them onto the land, calling for water. On Friday night our altar was a glowing bowl filled with water, and the invitation was that during the night, if someone was called, to take a mouthful and with intent, go out the the dry and dusty ground and spit that water out, giving gratitude. Theres nothing to believe here; at the very least, we would give the earth a drink. Dancers could dance for whatever felt right for them. What happened was an incredible night of connection. The glowing bowl was like a campfire, but made of water. People moved in and out from it, covering their faces with water, taking water to give to the land, or just dancing with gratitude for water. I was in tears during the night witnessing the level of commitment as everyone danced their hearts out. Thank you to this beautiful community. Thank you for he connection, the passion, the compassion, the love, the strength, the vulnerability. Thank you for caring enough to sweat your prayers. Thank you for holding and supporting each other as you dance what is true. Thank you for giving up your Friday night to move in Awareness. Theres one more Friday night EnTrance this year... 16.01.2022 Wow... I didnt realise how many of you are hanging out to dance! I have had over fifty messages from people who danced the last mix I put up... was that only yesterday? How wonderful to think of everyone dancing wherever you are. Sending you all sooo much love This is the trance wave from last years Heart Of the Huntress retreat. Its a meaty, mighty set. Get some decent headphones or rock out in your loungeroom, and remember, viruses dont like heat, so the sweatier you ...get, the better!. Im looking at virtual class options, in discussion with APRA about a licence for streaming in this country for all us conscious dance teachers to keep running paid classes for you. 08.01.2022 I dont know if it helps, but Im making a big pot of tea. Its quite strong, real leaves, cos thats how I was brought up. Ive got a couple of packs of virtua...l timtams that I wrestled someone for in the shopping isles... everyone else was going for the toilet paper, but just wait, Ill be able to trade later, a timtam for a roll. Lets crack one of them open now though. So heres your cuppa, I made the cup with my hands from clay I collected out of the ground, and I baked the clay in the campfire and glazed it with milk, its rustic looking and it still smells a bit like bushsmoke, but the tea is hot and good. And now you have your tea, and I have mine, can we go out to sit and look at stars? Its a beautiful night, the air is crisp but not too cold. The milky way is a giant galloping dragon running from one end of the sky to the other. We dont have to talk, we dont have to say anything at all. Im leaning a little against you, our shoulders are touching. I sip my tea. You sip yours. On the other side of you is another one of us, and on the other side of me. Here we all are. Just sitting in the Quiet, in the deep stillness, the space between breaths. Where there is nothing to do, nowhere to be. The tea is good, its hot and I can taste the tannins. The cup is rough and comforting in my hand. An owl cuts a dark shape into the bowl of stars, silent as it hunts. Far off we can hear waves, or is it wind? In this moment, in this endless moment, words want to pass my lips but I dont speak. I want to tell you I love you, but I dont need to. Its all there in the simple pressure of your shoulder, in the soft sounds of sip and sigh, in our deepening breaths, in the velvet kiss of night. There is nothing to say. The stars say it all.

07.01.2022 In Australia, today is Invasion Day, or Survival Day... and I want to say sorry. Sorry for my ancestors, sorry for my government. I am sorry for my white privil...ege, for all the places I simply cannot understand, because I view the world through the lens of my own privileged upbringing. I am sorry that all over the world there are First Nations people who are displaced, who have had their children stolen, their oral traditions broken, their songlines drowned and destroyed by the stomp of booted feet where before those songlines were danced with lightfoot grace. I am sorry that even in writing this post I am blind and deaf and clumsy, like Shrek at a tea party, smashing all the china with the best intentions of just pouring someone a cuppa. I cannot truly understand and I am sorry for that, that my heart cannot truly know the pain in the shards of anguish cutting the brothers and sisters I have never met to the bone. I am sorry that the invisible webs of violence still exist, in my attitudes, in those around me, in the systems that well meaning people use to fix an untenable situation and just make it ten thousand times worse. I am sorry that I walk on land that covers pyramids of bones, that my happiness comes on the backs of displaced and dispossessed and massacred people. I ran an event last Friday night and in my heartfelt (but ultimately ignorant) acknowledgment of the original Gadigal custodians of the land, the floor upon which we danced, I also acknowledged that there is a tension in me, shame at the actions of my ancestors, in my own habitual and cultural attitudes. Shame that I cannot change the past, and the tendency that I, that white people, can do the acknowledgment without feeling the true cost, without feeling our own discomfort at what it really means. We can pat ourselves on the back, tick the box, yes I said the words, I am not one of the invaders, I am making reparations, all the while wallpapering over the squirm in our guts with our attempts at worthiness. For myself, in my heart. I call bullshit. I cannot make reparations. How can I repair genocide? How can I mitigate the annihilation of a culture that has caretaken this country with grace and wisdom for 80 000 years? How can I meaningfully say sorry for the loss of the songs, art, the ceremonies, the history, the wisdom? It is on par with the library of Alexandria being burned. It is worse. It was deliberate. It still is. So today, on Invasion Day, I want to acknowledge that I am a privileged white woman who walks barefoot through the blood of a culture that essentially died so that I may exist. I mourn its loss. I grieve the conversations I will not have, the things I now cannot learn, the connections unavailable to me, to those I love. I grieve the loss to the world of such a people, such incredible connection to all things. I grieve the richness that is lost, here in Gondwana and all over the world where First Nations peoples have been dispossessed and displaced and their cultures destroyed and their families massacred. And now I am going to shut the fuck up, go sit outside with my butt in the dirt of this old old land, and I am going to listen really really hard to the grief songs from the indigenous ceremonies that are right now happening in parks and on beaches and in halls everywhere today. I am going to listen to the speeches and stories and the rage. And I am going to lay my head on the earth and thank the spirits of those who have died, those who still die, from suicide and addiction and essentially the broken heartedness that comes when someone steals the sun from the sky and the stars from the night and the animals who are your brothers and sisters and the trees that are your friends and kills your relatives over and over and says, here; you can live in this concrete box now, and be grateful. With every exhalation I am going to say I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry. And it will never be enough. He is a woodcarver, a scientist, a dancer, a teacher, a trickster, an inspiration. When he was growing up he trapped rabbits to sell so he could go to school, and so he could feed his family. He rode a horse to school, and when he couldnt afford the oil for the saddle, a farmer said to rub mutton fat into it. He did, and his pants stank of sheep grease, but it was the only way he could get to school, so he sat in the classroom stinking of rancid sheepfat. He grew up having to work harder, faster, smarter and stronger just to get through. And yet he meets everyone open hearted, shares wisdom with grace and builds bridges wherever he goes. Uncle Noel and Trish just lost everything in the Aussie fires. Their home, car, his teaching workshop, the bush and animals that are his family.
