25.01.2022 JACK // the most beautiful rainbow i ever did see these amazing people are some of my favourite humans and seeing them become parents is remarkable. jack is the luckiest boy to have them. and i’m lucky to call them my friends.

25.01.2022 GOLDIE // as a country kid, there are things i always thought happened. like... you didn’t always lock your car, you said hello to everyone and you knew your neighbours. moving to sydney, i learnt very quickly, that wasn’t the case. ... fast forward to our recent move to torquay and i wasn’t sure what to expect. yes it’s a *very* small town but there’s a lot of people coming and going so we just didn’t know if that country vibe was going to greet us. well, we hit the neighbour jackpot. these guys. neighbours turned friends. the dream. and the added bonus of having a newborn next door who i can cuddle but then go home and sleep all night

23.01.2022 grandparents at weddings are so very special. i lost my beautiful poppa three months after my wedding and the photos i have of him from that day are some i treasure the most. for this reason, i’m pretty fussy about making sure family photos are perfect. so... is your tie straight?

22.01.2022 TARA + MATT // 24 hours before their ceremony was due to start on 21.3.20, they had to cancel their wedding. yesterday, 364 days later, they finally got married. it doesn’t get better than weddings like this.... tara + matt... i’m so glad i was on this ride with you.

22.01.2022 BERRY FAMILY // 2020 has been a lot of things. but for me, it’s meant family. a year i put down my phone, hopped off my computer and spent days on end with my people. the berry family spent a lot of their time this year at the beach so there was no better place to document them. Monika Berry is one heck of a photographer (and human) and it was an absolute dream to photograph her family.

22.01.2022 i want wedding speeches and warm nights and lovers surrounded by their favourite people in the world. i want it to all come back... i miss the good old days!

21.01.2022 AUDREY // that hand she holds close to her face to make her feel safer...

18.01.2022 SERENDIPITY // it’s always been one of my favourite words and that’s how i feel about the moment in these photos. at the start of this covid-19 journey when everything was starting to really sink in, my family and i went to breathe in the salty ocean air. as luck had it, these two beautiful people wandered right past me, holding a bottle of beer each. they made their way, holding hands, to watch the sun set over the ocean. ... i only had my phone but i asked if i could take a photo for them. they told me their 130 person wedding had to be postponed that day, but they decided to get married on the beach anyway... just a celebrant, their dads and them while their mums watched from afar. and they were so bloody happy. at a time when i was questioning so much, kat and andy came along. they made me remember why i love doing what i do. and why photos are important. and why, above all else, when things are tough, people are what matter most and just sometimes those people are strangers who cross your path at just the right time

18.01.2022 CURTIS + NIKOLA // bring on warm nights with beautiful people.

17.01.2022 NEWBEGIN FAMILY // it still amazes me that i get to hang out with awesome people on a sunday morning at the beach and call it work.

17.01.2022 ENGAGED // what about that time my hubby and i went on a fancy weekend away to the spectacular Pumphouse Point and some of the other guests got engaged so i convinced them to let me take their photo! if your overseas honeymoon plans have been thrown out the window, consider supporting some of these incredible accommodation gems instead. and if you can’t go straight away, buy a voucher to make a promise to yourselves of going away to celebrate.

17.01.2022 the big question is... what if my kid/s get upset during our shoot? it happens. a lot more than you’d think. so what do we do? if you flick through these photos, you can see we do everything we can. all the tricks. ... we explore. we funny dance. we sing songs. we make up secret missions. then we eat. because hangry is good for no one. we take a five minute break. then we try again. so you bring your weapon of choice... sultanas, lollies, mcdonald’s on the way home, a little present. whatever it is. and i’ll bring mine... a super fast camera, itunes for music distractions and silly jokes. together, we’ll absolutely nail it!

17.01.2022 sure! i’ll helicopter to a location for photos if you want to...

17.01.2022 LUCY // because a photo shoot should always end with jumping in puddles.

14.01.2022 DANI & ASH // today was worth the wait.

14.01.2022 RESTRICTIONS // under current covid law (regional vic) I am still unable to be in your home for photos and mask wearing is compulsory outdoors (even during shoots) so thank you for all those on my waiting lists who are being patient... i promise to work my hardest as soon as I legally can to photograph you all. I can’t wait!!

13.01.2022 WILLOW // the happiest little face! gosh i can’t wait to get back into photographing people. i think i’ve realised i’m an introverted extrovert. i need quiet time but i need people. equally.

13.01.2022 There are SO many things i’d do differently if i were to get married again. And now i’ve photographed more weddings than i can count, i’ve learnt what works and sometimes what doesn’t so here are some of my best tips : be you - you only get one chance to spend this kinda money on a party so go all in. me? i’d have a @imakestagram jacket, @banginhangins install, elvis as my celebrant... the list goes on. ... outfit of dreams - i wore what i thought i should wear. a lovely wedding dress. instead see this as your one chance to show your personality in a single outfit. suit, dress, jumpsuit, short, long, colourful, glitter. so many options. tell your guests your wedding starts 15 mins before it actually does. despite best efforts, there will always be someone late so better them waiting, than you. get those speeches done asap - they’re oh so important and one of my fave wedding moments *but* for the people speaking, it’s pretty nerve wracking. i’ve seen people not be able to eat because of nerves and others drink so much they can barely speak. do them early! dance floor - early speeches also leads to an early dance floor start and i’m *always* in favour of that! there’s really no need to have three hours of photos with your bridal party. if you hire a professional photographer with experience, you’ll get plenty of beautiful photos in under an hour. these guys here... they got married in Vegas. It was a 7 minute ceremony, In-and-Out burger in a stretch limo for the wedding meal, 17 friends and their reception was spent dancing to an 80’s cover band on a sidewalk in old Vegas. It was one i’ll never forget!

12.01.2022 FIRST BORN // there’s something so special about those last few weeks before you welcome baby number two. it’s like the world is quieter, slower. because you want to remember what it was like when it was just them and you. forever.

12.01.2022 HANNAH & FRASER // back when we could wander through long grass and chase the setting sun

11.01.2022 it’s about time i got my face on here so... hi, i’m verity. i’ve (embarrassingly) had this post in drafts for weeks but couldn’t hit publish because *ugh*.... i hate photos of myself! i love taking photos with my friends but i’m not a real poster. i’m more a keep-them-in-my-phone-with-the-other-16,000-photos type. but i’ve made a promise to myself (and The Digital Picnic) to show up here more so this year i’m going to try.... to ease myself in, here’s a few things about me : i am wife to a hot husband and mum to two of my favourite people, harriet and lloyd. my first ever job was at mcdonald’s. it taught me strong work ethic and exceptional customer service and it was the *best* place i could have hoped to start my working life. i got engaged after only knowing my husband for 9 months. we met at work, i went overseas to travel and decided to come back to see if it would work. luckily it did and we celebrate 13 years married next month. i am equally an introvert and extrovert. i recharge on quiet time with a good book but i also need to dress up, drink wine and dance with my favourite people. if i couldn’t be a photographer (even though i can never imagine myself doing anything else), i’d be a librarian. i’m a camper. i grew up having family holidays at caravan parks and there is absolutely no better experience. a five star hotel will never compare! becoming a mother wasn’t sunshine and rainbows for me. it was the hardest thing i’ve ever done and i’m so bloody grateful for modern medicine, health professionals and my village. lastly, mint choc chip ice cream is the absolute bomb!

09.01.2022 CLAIRE + TOM // weddings are always fun. but then there are weddings like this. claire + tom were married in rutherglen and their day had everything... tears, laughter, rain, sun, rainbows, epic bridal party (please refer to above photo), ripping dancefloor and perhaps the best part, a dream couple. some highlights of the day :... tom’s face when he saw claire walking down the aisle. claire’s smile. all day. tom’s wedding ring is a family heirloom from 1900. we went to their family friends private property for photos and a very good time was had. the dancefloor. anyone would think these people hadn’t partied for a year. epic. claire + tom... i already want to do it again. my heart is so very happy after spending the day with these beautiful people. 07.01.2022 LAURA & JACOB // there could be no better photo to sum up yesterday’s wedding. it was an absolute explosion of vibrancy, personalisation and love. these two are the best of friends. ... you can see it. and you can feel it. and geez they can party! it was easily one the the most consistently full dance floors i’ve ever seen... for four SOLID hours. laura & jacob... i am the luckiest. hand on my heart. to know you both. and to have been your photographer x

06.01.2022 gosh those days with little kids can seem like they go on forever. and then, when they’re at school, it feels like they only lasted a few months. take the photos. ... or have them taken. you’ll *never* regret it.

05.01.2022 the amazing maggie and josh from Think Thornbury have got this incredible auction off the ground in five days! i’ve donated a family photo shoot so if you’ve been thinking of having a shoot done, there’s no better time! 100% of proceeds are going to the bushfire appeal and @wildlifevictoria. ... so proud to be part of this creative amazingness! https://airauctioneer.com/think-thornbury-bushfire-appeal-a

03.01.2022 AISLE // for me, this is one of my favourite parts of a wedding. seeing the guests reaction to the aisle walk... i’ll never get tired of those awe, pride and loved filled faces.

02.01.2022 In the summertime when the weather is hot, You can stretch right up and touch the sky...

02.01.2022 the man who encouraged me to be a photographer and told me i *could* do it as a career, retired today. he changed the course of my life and many others and i will be forever grateful and thankful for this wonderful man. congratulations shorty... you will leave a place no one can fill.

02.01.2022 QUINN // shot just before melbourne lockdown 2.0. imagine the stories she’ll hear about the year she came into the world.

02.01.2022 MARNIE // one of my first shoots back and it’s never felt better. i’m not sure there’s ever been a more important or significant time to document your life. what a moment to look back on.

02.01.2022 TAMBURRO FAMILY // I’ve been lucky enough to be witness to (and photograph) these two married, pregnant, become parents to gorgeous otis and now to add this very special little lady, freddie. this is no ordinary job. this is the best job in the world.

01.01.2022 ARE WE DONE? // end of shoot negotiations with a four year old look like this...
