11.01.2022 Repacking Wheel Bearings Did you know repacking your wheel bearings is a serviceable item especially for 4WDS? Your wheel bearings are what allows your Tyres and Wheels to spin freely whilst you are in motion. With proper maintenance wheel bearings will last for a long time, however as that time passes the grease they are ‘packed in’ can become contaminated and broken down by heat. When this happens, the bearing will become worn and in extreme situations (like this one) the ...wheel may come off of your vehicle. While Driving. It can also cause costly unnecessary damage. So have a think about it the next time you jump in your vehicle, or hitch up your trailer or float. Is it time you got them checked / repacked or replaced? Some early warning signs include wheel hubs hot to the touch, vibration / wobble, noise. Servicing your bearings might seem costly, however the alternative will definitely hurt the back pocket and leave you severely inconvenienced.
