25.01.2022 Today, GOAS Community Members headed to the Image Resources Boonanarring Site to draw the winner of our toolbox raffle. David at Image Resources has been a huge support to our group and his community minded spirit brings such a great energy to our fundraising efforts. A little representative drew the winning ticket, handed over the goods to the lucky winner (Congratulations Brendon and Runner up Sammy!) and then we managed to sneak in a guided site tour.... Thanks again to Gull Gingin for the generous toolbox donation. Also, another HUGE thanks to the ongoing support of staff and management at the Boonanarring Site for their support for the Gingin Outdoor Activity Space Project - the Community Working Group is so grateful. Gingin, we can make this happen and step by step we’re reaching our fundraising target!

24.01.2022 Have you ever heard of, been to or lived in Gingin? Let us take you there.. Your State Library is featuring WA regional towns on its Facebook Page. It's an oppo...rtunity to share stories, old photos and connect with old friends. Share your memories and old photographs in the comment section of this post. Recently featured towns include Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Busselton, Mandurah, Port Hedland and Merredin. Gingin is located 84 kilometres north of the Perth, within the central coastal region of the Wheatbelt. The first European to visit the area was the explorer George Fletcher Moore in 1836 and recorded the Aboriginal name "Jinjin" on his charts. Aboriginal people had been in the area for thousands of years. The name is thought to mean "footprint" or "place of many streams". Yued refers to the Noongar language or dialectal group north of Perth. By 1853 an area along Gingin Brook was fenced for horses to rest on the way from Perth to Geraldton and a police station built nearby. The town of Gingin was declared in 1883 and telegraph and railway line to Perth was completed shortly after. Today the town is home to around 850 people. Its economy is mostly based on agriculture, although there has been an increasing focus on science with the establishment of the Australian International Gravitational Observatory and Gravity Discovery Centre. There is also a small military airfield, RAAF Gingin, located nearby. With its beautiful coastline, expanses of agricultural land, fishing industry, caring community and extraordinary Aboriginal, colonial and maritime history, the Shire of Gingin is a wonderful region to explore. 23.01.2022 Did you know the invitation to Tender for the GOAS facility construction opened on Wednesday 21 October 2020?! https://www.gingin.wa.gov.au//rft-022020-construction-of/9 While we continue our last fundraising efforts as a community group, watch this space for more updates Gingin ... Every day we’re getting closer to realising this community driven vision!

22.01.2022 Have you heard the big news and incredible commitment from Country Values Real Estate? It is amazing what is possible when a community comes together to make big things happen. A huge thank you goes out to Country Values ! ... Now, anyone on the market for a rental or beautiful new home in town? GOtogether!

21.01.2022 What you might not see in the detailed design imageUNIVERSAL ACCESS (and NEW Toilet Block) It's tricky to see on this image, but universal access into and across the park was a critical design consideration for the Community Working Group. It's also hard to see the elevation variation at the site that made this a fun challenge for the design team to work around. Universal access for us means that everyone is able to access every point of the facility (even if you're not d...ropping into the Skatebowl for some tricks, we thought you should be able to hang out and watch). Whether it was a parent with a pram making a quick dash across the park to the toilet (there is a NEW toilet on site!), a visitor with a mobility aid or really for anyone and everyone who just prefers some steady grounding to move around on. It also provides opportunity for a cheeky, uninterrupted scooter run on those quiet days. Along with some key all abilities features like the accessible basket swing, we tried to encourage mindful consideration of our entire community. The final design image is what could be possible pending our final fundraising efforts and the Community Working Group is still working away at planning events and raising the funds we need to get to this point! Thank you all for your support so far!

20.01.2022 Skip the dishes - invite the whole family! Huge thanks to Chilli Farms Indian Restaurant and the Gingin CRC for this incredible event.

16.01.2022 Thank you to Treloar Contracting who have submitted a letter of intent to provide in-kind bulk haulage at the Bronze Project Partner level in addition to a cash donation from the family. We are so grateful to have qualified and capable local contractors on board willing to contribute their time and equipment to the project. Community support and spirit is truly what makes this project so much more special than your average facility. From the ground up, this project has been inspired and driven by passionate locals who had a vision for our community. But the wheels fall off any community project when there isn’t tangible support. We would never have made it this far without the helping hands along the way and we’re so excited for what is to come. Thank you Gingin! We’re almost there!

15.01.2022 HAVE YOU SEEN ? Construction is well under way and Coming Soon signage has been posted at site - including a few artist impression images. Check it out!

This is in addition to the the in-kind support which continues to grow every day. Gingin! WOW!

11.01.2022 100% Design! This is it folks the Gingin Outdoor Activity Space on paper Well, the design wizards at LD Total have done it again and the GOAS Community Working Group is proud to share the first public image of the Gingin Outdoor Activity Space. We know, it’s a bit technical and not the bright and exciting sketched images from Concept phase but have a close look (really zoom in). You might find some surprise elements that made their way into the design after the commu...nity feedback came in (.a skate bowl? Whaaaaat!) If you’ve been following along our community fundraising journey and have wanted to get involved now is the time. Whether a financial contribution of any size, in-kind support with materials, supplies, labour or otherwise now is absolutely the time to jump off the fence and get on board. We need to hear from you soon. Reach out to [email protected] or direct message this page to contact us. We cant wait to share more updates.

10.01.2022 The GOAS Community Working Group were hard at work this weekend catering for the Gingin Community Branch Bendigo Bank Christmas event. A crew of GOAS Community Working Group members (with friends and family) worked hard to setup and decorate the space, prepare the meal and all food displays, serve, cleanup and everything in between! Special thanks to CU@Park and the Gingin Hotel for donations of some food items and decorations for the festivities, to Gingin Premium Meats, Kim... Davidson, Gloria Hyne And Judy Treloar for their sweets donations, and Paul Kelly for the gravy advice. Thanks so much to Bendigo Bank for giving us the opportunity to be involved. Step by step we’re reaching our fundraising target! 10.01.2022 What you might not see in the design image...TREES! While we work towards an exciting visual concept that captures the amazing GOAS detailed design - we thought it might be helpful to start highlighting some features that aren’t so obvious in our first detailed design image. An ambitious planting schedule (more trees and landscaped garden beds!!) features prominently in the final design.... The design utilizes and incorporates existing natural tree cover at the site - but will also add a number of NEW trees and garden planting in the area. This will create unique natural shade cover throughout the space and add visual interest - not to mention making it a great place for bird and other wildlife spotting. **images do not represent ACTUAL tree or wildlife species in the space.

09.01.2022 Last night, Uma from Curry Tubs and Chilli Farms Indian Restaurant came to Gingin to give a taste of what is on offer for his home delivery service. All proceeds were donated directly to the GOAS project!!! Curry Tubs offers a convenient home delivery service of fresh, authentic, delicious, ready to heat and serve Indian Cuisine straight to your door in Gingin or Lancelin. The food was amazing, the weather was perfect and the Gingin CRC gardens provided a beautiful locatio...n to enjoy a unique picnic style tasting experience. Huge thank you to the Gingin District Community Resource Centre for hosting Uma and directing his generosity to the GOAS Project. And thank you to Uma for your generosity and for sharing your delicious food! I know there will be few new orders coming your way with some fuss-free family curry nights already planned in the near future. 04.01.2022 Everyone loves good news on a Friday Afternoon Martin Aldridge, Dale Spark & Family just became Bronze Project Partners! Being part of a country town is so much more than living in the post code and these humans absolutely take being active in the community to a whole new level. Between life with their three busy kids, mum and dad are regularly volunteering their time and energy into so many aspects of the Shire, from the School functions and canteen, to local fire brigade, clubs, events, activities and a number of local committees and beyond. And this is in their spare time outside the realm of public life and duty. We are so happy that an inclusive, outdoor community space is important to your family and we cannot thank you enough for all you guys already do in the community.

02.01.2022 It’s been a busy holiday season but with 2021 underway we need to send out our thanks to Country Values Real Estate In early 2020, Country Values made a commitment to donate a portion of their sales revenue to the GOAS Project. In December 2020, this locally owned business became a Silver Project Partner for the GOAS facility! How incredible is it to begin the New Year in 2021 with shovels to the ground on site bringing the GOAS facility one step closer to completion!... Thank You Country Values Real Estate and the Hyne family for helping bring this incredible inclusive facility to our town! We’ve said it before and we will continue to say that none of this progress is possible without the support of this community!
