23.01.2022 I think this maybe the last of the echidna posts as this little fella looked like he was ready to head off with his mother. This little exchange of feeding ,gro...oming and drinking together took 3 hours. So delightful. He or she .. almost looks as big as the mum So the first photo is post feed. The video is mum leaving after feeding and grooming the baby and then having some water together.

12.01.2022 I was trying to think of an appropriate title for this image which I took yesterday morning whilst birding with Pam who I had asked to return to the scene of our productive sojourn photographing Rainbow-bee Eaters this time last year. On the way we encountered this family of Wedgetails(4 in all) perched and ready to greet the day.

08.01.2022 Acting on a hot tip, I headed South of Willaura once again for the sight of a lifer. Here is a Plumed Whistling-Duck about to land on a fire dam. The species must have narrowly avoided being named 'Tiger Duck'. Stunning plumage. February 2.

04.01.2022 One of the really interesting things about camera-trapping in Far East Gippsland is that it gives you an appreciation of how much foot traffic there actually is... in some places! Take this single log for example. You or I might step over it, trip over it, or sit on it without ever thinking much about the "locals" who also land on it, climb over it or scamper along it! Here's a selection of critters on said log: Bush Rat, Bassian Thrush, MOUNTAIN Brushtail Possum (thanks Chris Cobern!), Grey Currawong (birdos, happy to be corrected), 2 views of a Long-footed Potoroo, Grey Shrike-thrush, Superb Lyrebird, Agile Antechinus, Dusky Antechinus and a Pilotbird... a bustling little spot in the forest.
