06.01.2022 Opinions please! Weve been asked to write a piece for a National publication and would love to include what the people are saying. We believe that coffee ...bean brands (to their credit) do a better job of selling the story than what we do. We find this frustrating sometimes because often cafes are happy to pay top bucks for speciality coffee beans knowing that its supporting families in countries that are getting paid fairly for what they grow, but what about their milk choice? Often the profits from the milk they choose is going overseas and not staying local and recent history suggests that they arent paid a sustainable (fair trade) price on farm. We think to ourselves, what would happen If the same emphasis was put on the providence and sustainability of the milk as much as it does on the coffee beans? ... do consumers actually care? If you follow this page, you probably do, so Thank you! Are consumers prepared to pay an extra 10-20 cents per coffee to know that they are supporting not only fair trade coffee, but also fair trade milk? Do the maths, 5 cups of coffee in 1 litre of milk = $0.50-1.00 extra per litre that cafe can afford to pay for the milk. Please vote YES/NO in the poll link and share this post so we can get some data to include in our opinion piece.
