21.01.2022 Our Morwell and Traralgon practices are still open to look after your dental needs. We have always had high infection control standards at GDG but during these times we’re taking some additional precautions. These include continuing to screen all our patients, encouraging social distancing in our waiting rooms, asking our patients to use hand rub upon entry and using a mouthwash prior to treatment. ... We are asking our patients to reschedule their appointments if they are unwell or have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19. Doing this will protect our staff and patients and allow us to stay open during these ever changing times. Please get in touch if you have any questions in regards to your appointment. We look forward to seeing you.

14.01.2022 Want to keep your canines in tip top shape? DRINK WATER As the weather warms up it’s important that we’re drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated. Good hydration = healthy saliva = healthy mouth. Carbonated water, sugar free cordials, sports drinks (even sugar free ones) and lemon are all acidic so try to aim for good old tap water. Try boiling it if you aren’t keen on the taste. It’s one less thing your dentist will... HOUND you about

11.01.2022 How much sugar is hiding in your shopping trolley? This #DentalHealthWeek we’re trying to raise awareness for hidden sugars in food. Frequent sugar consumption = tooth decay = pain and problems. High amounts of sugar are found in most sweet drinks, including flavoured milks and fruit juice, as well as all the other typical sweet treats like ice cream, cakes and biscuits. Some tips?... Try and read the labels and choose items that have no more than 5-15gm sugar per 100gm. Look for sugars on labels that might not be so obvious such as fructose, glucose, brown rice syrup, malt syrup, dextrose, honey, maple syrup and corn syrup. If sugar (or a form of sugar) is listed near the top of the ingredients list, the product is high in sugar compared to the other ingredients. Keep an eye on our Facebook page this week for some handy tips to keep your pearly whites healthy.

09.01.2022 Welcome to the world, baby Theo! Dr Raj and his wife Katia are thrilled to announce the arrival of their baby boy last month. He’s giving them plenty to stress about but thankfully his teeth aren’t one of them... yet.

09.01.2022 During stressful times like these, many of us may find ourselves reaching for some sugary treats more often than. To limit the damage done to your teeth, try to reduce the frequency of putting sugar in your mouth throughout the day (eg if you have a sugary drink, try and finish it in one go, ideally with a meal, rather than sipping on it for an hour or two). And keep an eye on natural sugars like fruit juice, honey and dried fruit - these all feed the bacteria that cause tooth decay. A great trick is to finish every meal or snack with a drink of tap water to try and wash away some of those sugars. #DentalHealthWeek

08.01.2022 Bleeding gums? Brush more, not less. Gums bleed when plaque isn’t removed often enough. This might be from missing a spot when brushing, brushing technique being ineffective, toothbrush needing replacement or from not flossing. Hormone changes (eg. Pregnancy) can make your gums more sensitive to plaque and more likely to bleed too. What can you do? Make sure your toothbrush massages along the gum line when you brush. If you notice an area bleeds it’s important you don’t avo...id brushing it - gently continue cleaning the area to help get it healthy. Slide floss up and down the sides of the tooth and go just below the gum line. If bleeding gums aren’t managed they can progress into more serious gum disease. Get in touch with us on 51342255 or 51746800 if you have any concerns about your gums. See more

05.01.2022 This week is National Skin Cancer Awareness week and we’re encouraging all our wonderful patients and followers to get yourself a professional skin cancer check. Prevention and early detection is key! Often we miss our lips when we slip, slip, slap and unfortunately skin cancer on the lips is very common. Regularly look for anything unusual on your lips - lumps, bumps, ulcers or colour changes. If it isn’t healing within a few weeks, please get it checked by your dentist or doctor. When you’re going to be outside always make sure to use sunscreen, an SPF lip balm and cover up as much as possible to stay safe.

02.01.2022 Healthy food doesn’t need to be rabbit food! but even if it is, it can still be delicious. Some low sugar snack ideas for #DentalHealthWeek are - Lightly salted or buttered popcorn - Sliced apple with sugar free peanut butter (we love Mayvers) - Nuts... - Cheese and crackers - Corn thins with vegemite and avocado - Veggie sticks and dip - Fresh fruit (dried fruit is very sticky and high in sugar) - Greek yogurt and berries See more
