25.01.2022 Some handy weekend travel map ideas...LOL

25.01.2022 Bugger...they are getting everyone..

25.01.2022 Clubs members have met up with Tim Bates here and there. Great fella and he does clips like this that gives a good description of certain areas of the high country. This one is a very good description of Billy Goats but he does go on about rear lockers. Yes they make things easier but you get up there without them. https://www.youtube.com/watch

23.01.2022 This weekend we traveled to Eaglevale Camp Ground on the Wonnangatta River. We took the opportunity to drive Billy Goats Bluff Track and visited the Pinnacles Fire Tower lookout. Check out some these videos: https://youtu.be/ViM8nkNhTqQ https://youtu.be/fBEHsPj0EzU https://youtu.be/b_BzSjqDmsM... https://youtu.be/e1U_VPnmpsw https://youtu.be/EsZL_lPBmCs See more

21.01.2022 The Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club would like to pay our respects to the family and friends of Rod Hodge (Hodgie). Hodgie will be remembered as a bloke who always had a smile on his face, he was an active part of the infamous club Go Down from years passed and recently contributed to raising funds that made the purchase of our clubs AED possible. The community has lost one lifes truely great blokes. We are grateful to have known him.

19.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all members and followers on this page. Hope you all have a great Christmas and stay safe on those roads and tracks this festive season. See you in the high country. Andy Holland....President of Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club.

15.01.2022 Just a bit of an update for those who participated in the Australia Day Bush Fire clean up weekend. I submitted an article to the our Track Watch Magazine run by Victorian Four Wheel Drive Association and it was in this quarters magazine. If you would like a copy of the story...just PM us with your email address and I will send it through to you. Cheers and thanks of helping out. Andy Holland

15.01.2022 Back in 2009, a group of Friends and I got together to assist in the clean up of the Black Saturday Fires. With our efforts of that weekend, we made a small difference in the clean up but a huge difference to an orchid owner when we managed to clean up three house sites and did some fence clearing also. With the current fires ongoing, I am doing the same thing again through Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club. I am seeing who maybe available to give their time over the Australia ...Day Weekend to assist in doing something for those affected by these fires. I dont want to donate money or clothes but would rather be hands on and give my time and effort again. I am putting it out there to the followers on this page to join members of Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club on this weekend and provide what you can in time and effort. At this time I dont expect the fires to be completely finished by Australia Day Weekend. I do feel however that there will be areas safe enough to go in and commence the clean up. This will mainly consist of fence clearing and assisting on burnt out properties. Once I have expected numbers of boots on the ground, I will approach the relevant authority and put our group to them and see where we can be placed. I am expecting somewhere around the north of Bairnsdale or up towards Dargo. it will be for a couple of nights so will be camping somewhere. If you have any questions...feel free to message me and I will gladly answer them. I am hoping we can provide hands on support and other resources you may be able to offer. The more resources and hands on support the better our effort will be. if you are unable to attend but can offers resources such as gloves, face masks, meat for BBQ or the like, that would be appreciated. Thanks for reading this and hope you are able to come along. Please watch this space. Regards Andy Holland, President Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club. See more

12.01.2022 FROM FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VICTORIA: They have asked us to make our members aware that once the COVID-19 restrictions come off and allow us to travel again, there is still a huge amount of work to be undertaken to assist the fire affected communities around the State. We are being made aware of the unfortunate plight of those severely affected who still urgently require help with building fences and their lives in general, so please look to helping us put together teams of volunte...ers to get out and make a difference. Could you please have any interested members contact the office, we shall coordinate the allocation of jobs and properties based on the requirements asked of us. There phone numbers are: Tel: (03) 9874 7222 Mob: 0437 911 356

11.01.2022 For those that are intending to head out bush this weekend. We have confirmed that parks are open for day light hours only...See below. Coronavirus (COVID-19) update The Victorian Government is directing all Victorians to stay at home to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Every Victorian must play their part. By staying at home and limiting contact with other people, we can protect the elderly, the at-risk, and our healthcare workers and each other.... There are five reasons that you can leave home: shop for food and other necessary goods and services access medical services or provide caregiving for example, this includes shared parenting obligations or providing care and support to an unwell, disabled, elderly or pregnant friend or relative attend work or education where you cant do those things from home exercise and participate in some recreational activities adhering to the rules visit friends, family and loved ones while adhering to the rules. Some restrictions have been cautiously eased to allow people to look after their own, and others health, wellbeing and social connection, however, the message remains clear: If you can stay at home you must stay at home. Most of our parks, reserves and historic places are now open for day-use activities, provided that physical distancing of 1.5 metres between people and maximum of 10 people is observed at all times. There are nine sites (listed below) that will remain closed to comply with physical distancing measures to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Regards, Wayne Hevey Chief Executive Officer Four Wheel Drive Victoria

11.01.2022 Due to the current climate, the committee has decided to cancel all non essential meetings until further notice. Just doing our bit in these trying times. Stay safe all and see you on the other side. Andy Holland. President Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club.

06.01.2022 Just putting this out there....I wanted to acknowledge a volunteer who assisted us over the Australia Day Weekend and his efforts to date. Kevin Regnier, known on Facebook as Kevin Reg, is a middle aged bloke from up near Ballarat. He came on board when we put the word out about the Bush Fire Clean Up we did last weekend. Not only did he come on board but he drove his vehicle down from Ballarat towing a 6x4 trailer with 36 bails of hay on board. He donated that at Buchan wh...ich was really appreciated. We finished last Monday and Kevin has continued on working at Cara and James Joiners farm assisting where he can out there. He contacted me tonight wanting another permit so he could continue working up there until next Sunday. This guy is a down to earth Aussie showing true mate ship through hard times. Well done Kevin you deserve a well earned pat on the back fella. See more

05.01.2022 Just a reminder to all that all our meetings and gatherings have been cancelled until further notice. No meeting tonight.

05.01.2022 Well what a weekend we had and what a difference we made to a few farmers who had been heavily affected by the devastating fires up around the Buchan area. A big thank you to all those members who came along and also to the volunteers who also decided to come along. What a way to spend the Australia Day Weekend showing mate ship and to give a fellow Aussie a hand. There will be more written on this soon but I just wanted to post some of my pics from the weekend. Cheers and again well done.

03.01.2022 Looks like there will be another Bush Fire Clean up weekend happening on the weekend of 14-15 March 2020. This is the weekend after the Labour Day Weekend. More details to follow but for those that went last time and would like to do it again.....keep this weekend free. Those that missed out last time and would like to participate,,,,,keep this weekend free.

03.01.2022 If anyone has solid pallets they do not require, would you be kind enough to donate them to the cause. They are at Bunyip IGA and plan to take all the water to east Gippsland early this afternoon. https://www.facebook.com/7NEWSMelbourne/videos/2171984546440822/

02.01.2022 Visitors welcome.

02.01.2022 Over the Australia Day Weekend, we assisted this family in clearing burnt out fences so that new fences could be put back in place. This enable them to at least start running their stock again and it is start for them to get on their feet again. I encourage you all to have a read of their story on their Go Fund Me page and see what they went through New Years Eve in the midst of a fire storm. It was heart warming to all those that gave up their Australia Day Weekend to assist those in need in the Buchan area. We were provided with sponsorship to feed the members and volunteers who assisted over the weekend. The money left over will be donated to this family just again as a small gesture of support from us at Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club.

01.01.2022 At this time in this climate, all our events are still a goer until we are told otherwise. Of course be wise and sensible in the sense that if you have any symptoms of the Covid 19 virus, or feel that you are at risk...do not attend any of our events please. Andy Holland President Gippsland Four Wheel Drive Club.

01.01.2022 Here we go. Yet to be confirmed.
