20.01.2022 Our friend and quite possibly biggest Gippsland FM fan Renae visited today and participated in an introduction to radio in our Able Radio project. Renae lives her Gippsland FM and is considered non verbal but she was able to give us a shout out and put together a playlist we hope to put to air soon. Able radio brought to us by FRRR gives everyone an opportunity to learn a new skill or follow a dream.

Our... training is happening via ZOOM and participants are learning how to record programs remotely. Below is a summary of the restrictions for Regional Victoria. As further details come through I will endeavour to pass them on to you. Once again we feel devastated for our small business, hospitality, tourism, accommodation etc. community, which have suffered so much and were just emerging from hibernation and getting back on their feet. Take care, keep apart, wear masks and shop local at every possibility. Melina RESTRICTIONS REGIONAL VICTORIA (STAGE 3) RESTRICTIONS FROM 11.59 PM, WEDNESDAY, 5 AUGUST 2020 REASONS TO LEAVE YOUR HOME Change: Stay at Home except for 4 reasons: necessary goods & services; medical care or compassionate reasons; exercise, work and education if necessary. Exemptions include visiting a person with whom you are in an intimate personal relationship, including inside metropolitan Melbourne. You cannot enter metropolitan Melbourne for exercise or recreation. GATHERINGS OF PEOPLE Change: Private, no visitors. Public up to 2 people or household members only. EMPLOYER OBLIGATIONS No change: Work from home. Must not allow employees to work from workplace if reasonably practicable to work from home. SCHOOLS Change: Remote learning state-wide, including Year 11 and 12s, except for vulnerable children and children of permitted workers (from Wednesday, 5 August). 08.01.2022 A Little slice of History (43 years ago) November 28th 1977. 3GCR-FM is officially opened by Eric Robinson, Federal Minister for Posts and Telecommunications at 1.00PM. The station commences broadcasting on 103.5 MHz from studios in the Gippsland Institute at Churchill (now Monash Gippsland), but an hour later the station is off the air when an excavator digs up the landline to the transmitter. First programs still go to air that night with Something For the Kids (with Brian Butler and Sandra Firth) followed by the first music program Middle of the Road presented by Ken Thompson. Ken Thompson now a Life Member is still with us presenting Breakfast from 8am on Thursdays. I'd like to wish Him our longest remaining volunteer and Gippsland a very Happy 43rd Birthday for Saturday 28th November.

04.01.2022 Due to further critical power works by ausnet services at our transmitter site we are expecting a power outage between 11PM tonight (10/11/2020) until 4:30AM tomorrow morning (11/11/2020). Due to the works being overnight we won't be on site with power generation equipment and therefore will go off air from our 104.7FM frequency however overnight programming will remain live to air via the online stream. 03.01.2022 Due to critical power works by asset services at our transmitter site we are expecting a power outage between 9 am and 2 pm. Our technical team are facilitating the use of a power generator to power our backup transmission equipment so Gippsland FM is able to remain broadcasting on air. You may experience a slight degradation of signal quality and reach for some of the day and brief interruptions may occur during the changeover of transmission equipment but we will remain live to air for the day. 01.01.2022 The Board of Gippsland FM provided a BBQ for its dedicated volunteers who have continued to support the radio station through difficult times these last 12 months. Great catch-up BBQ last Saturday, March 20th. After many months of us unable to hold any sort of group event It was wonderful to see so many attend. Let's hope it's the first of many events to come. It's also been the 1st opportunity since the AGM that we've been able to award Bev Loraine with her Life Membership certificate.
