25.01.2022 Hang on a minute, I’m not sure which microphone to reply on.

25.01.2022 Food for thought....

25.01.2022 The next part of the GGREC Morse code sessions is starting to take shape, building kit radios. This unit is shaping up to be 'it', the other two contenders, whilst a lot cheaper, were fixed frequency, or only tuneable over a very limited range. This one is also capable of both CW & sideband (DSB)

23.01.2022 Hi Membership Last Thursday saw the first of the Morse code training nights happen with a great turnout of 14 people. It was decided to have the second training night next Thursday ( 6th February ) starting at 7:30pm at the club shack. It was also decided to move next Fridays Prac night forward to the Thursday night as well to save some travelling and increase the amount of members attending who can’t make the Friday Prac night. Therefore the morse code training will start at... 7:30pm and go for approx. a 1/2 to 1 hour and the Prac night will start immediately after the morse code training session where we will be discussing which CW transceivers we can purchase and build. Looking forward to seeing you there, Rob,de VK3BRS, Secretary, GGREC See more

23.01.2022 The WIA has put up some test exams for the Foundation License. If you are considering having a go at your Foundation license this will give you an idea where you are with your studies :-) https://www.wia.org.au//foundat/onlineexams/foundation.php

17.01.2022 This Labour day long weekend GGREC has a stand at the Train and Hobby Show at Sandown Park. Pop in and say G'Day :-)

15.01.2022 Finally, a good use for a mobile phone in amateur radio,(first pic) This was our second morse code night, that went off well.

12.01.2022 Hi Everyone. GGREC will be having it's Annual General Meeting on the 21st of August 2020. Due to the current lock down restrictions it will be carried out via Web conferencing. Members, keep an eye out for an email with the link to the Web meeting. Cheers and 73, Rob. de VK3BRS, Secretary / Admin Secretary, GGREC.

11.01.2022 And a bit of a blast from the past, 4 GGREC members back in 1984. Can you recognise them now ? 73, Rob

09.01.2022 This is excellent news from the WIA (Wireless Institute of Australia) the only IARU representative body in Australia for all radio amateurs and especially for the Foundation amateurs that have just started to use FT8 and other digital modes. A personal thanks to Grant Willis VK5GR for his efforts in perusing this important process for "Happy Harmonised HF Hams"...lol https://www.wia.org.au/newseven//2020/20200816-1/index.php

08.01.2022 In 2017, shortwave broadcaster Radio Australia stopped using one of their transmitting facilities in Shepparton, but the massive antennas remain. On the weekend... of March 14 and 15, members of the Shepparton and District Amateur Radio Club will be allowed to connect their transceivers to the huge antennas and make contacts. Chances are we'll hear them pretty well in the United States! For more information, see http://www.sadarc.org. See more

07.01.2022 VK3TGX experimenting with transmitting GGREC Zoom meetings. Due to covid-19, the GGREC has started conducting meetings via Zoom teleconferencing software over the internet. Not very radio like for a radio club, so interfacing a radio to it all seems the logical solution, as not all members like or want to use Zoom. Two problems now - Zoom is full duplex, radio is not, and for our repeater - repeater timeouts. & idents.

05.01.2022 It's on again, the 2020 GGREC hamfest. :-) We look forward to seeing you there in July, 73, GGREC

02.01.2022 The March GGREC magazine is now available. https://ggrec.org.au/Magazines/202003.pdf Note to GGREC members, due to the cronovirus this Fridays meeting will now be held via a video link... Check your club emails for details See more
