18.01.2022 Freemasons have managed to remain mysterious for hundreds of years. Freemasonry, known popularly for its white aprons and arcane symbols, is the worlds oldest fraternal organisation. Despite its longevity, Freemasons have long been shrouded in mystery. To outside observers, the organisations rites and practices may seem cult-like, clannish and secretive even sinister. Some of this stems from Freemasons often deliberate reluctance to speak about the organizations ritu...als to outsiders. But it is also partly the result of many popular movies and books, such as Dan Browns The Da Vinci Code (Doubleday, 2003), that have fostered misconceptions or depicted the order in an unflattering light. In reality, however, Freemasonry is a worldwide organisation with a long and complex history. Its members have included politicians, engineers, scientists, writers, inventors and philosophers. Many of these members have played prominent roles in world events, such as revolutions, wars and intellectual movements. On a more local level, you only need look at the Freemasons Honour Board to see many names that have had an immense influence in and around Sale with many Streets been named after some of these very influential men.

17.01.2022 "Freemasonry is a principled way of life, offering a sense of belonging and of personal growth. The principles by which a Freemason is expected to conduct himself, are based on tolerance, equality, charity and honour. They strive towards spiritual enlightenment, and personal development as a way to moral perfection. Freemasons demonstrate these principles by showing tolerance and respect for the opinions of others, behaving with kindness and practising charity and care for their community." - www.freemawonsvic.org.au
