25.01.2022 Gippsland MTB has decided not to host any club rides until further notice, this will be until the social distancing has been lifted. The health and welbeing of our participants, club members, ride leaders and the community is a priority. Hopefully by us doing our part we can help reduce the numbers and flatten the curve. This has not been an easy decision as the club social rides are a part of many of our weekly routines. If you do decide to ride, respect others space and kno...w that this is not the time for setting new PR's or KOMs. This is a great time to back it off and to not give medical services any additional work. Also, go out and support your local bike shop. They have been here to help keep us all on the trails, but like many of small businesses they are in for a tough time. They deserve our support to make sure that are still there to when we do get back out on the trails again. Stay safe and ride responsibly.

25.01.2022 DELWP Gippsland staff are busy again at the park. Not only are they grooming the mountain bike trails in preparation for Easter and the Baw Baw Extreme event, they have also tended to the cleanup of some fire trails many of the locals use!

06.01.2022 The trail fairies for both Somewhere Good and Traralgon Pines have asked for riders to avoid the trails for a few days due to the amount of riders and damage that is happening to the trails. While we all want to ride, these crews are getting overwhelmed for the maintenance required so help them out by letting the trails dry before riding. Reports are also in of Blores Hill and Erica also being very wet, so these should be avoided as well to allow the trails to dry. #gippslandmtb #traralgonpinesmtb #somewheregoodmtb #bloreshillmtbpark #ericamtbpark

02.01.2022 MEET THE COMMITTEE #1 Introduce yourself... I'm Marcus, club Secretary and keen MMTB rider. I have loved cycling since a boy doing overnight back country rides with my dad and friends. My local riding trail is the Traralgon Pines, close to home and a great variety to smash out in an hour or two after work.... What bike do you ride? Up until recently I've been riding a Norco Sight, but fingers crossed when you are reading this I'll be on my new Specialized StumpJumper! Santa came early this year for me! Big thanks to @gippycycles for tracking down a bike during the Covid bike drought madness. Why did you join the GMTB Committee? When I got back into riding at around 30 years old I was keen to know what GMTB did as a committee. I thought I could meet like minded bike crazy people and generally help expand MTB offerings across Gippsland. Maybe you could call it my mid life crisis, but instead of a convertible I bought a good bike and joined a committee. What is your favourite MTB trail in Gippsland and why? I've gotta say Somewhere Good is very special. The back drop of the hills and fern filled gullies really ticks the box in terms of nature and Australian native bush. Overlay that with the trail fairies crazy creative approach to trails and I reckon you might just have the best combination. I actually don't ride it a lot, but every time I do I have a big smile on my face and it really tests my (limited) skills. Keep an eye out for more of our committee members popping up on your screens and on the Gippsland trails!

02.01.2022 Due to smoke the club social ride has been canceled We will try again next Wednesday sorry folks
