25.01.2022 Politically incorrect in todays world! True none the less!

24.01.2022 Commencing tomorrow GVC is doing Friday night raffles at the Star hotel in Sale - we are booked for the month of May 2021 - 7,14,21 & 28th. Come along and support us and our supporters, special thanks to the Star Hotel, Rosedale Butchers & Repco Sale.

24.01.2022 Information wanted - Leonard Bacon had Stratford Motors Pty Ltd in the 1920s - 30s. A retired aircraft mechanic, he and Syd Williams patented the BACWILL liquid fuel gauge. There is a connection to local estate agent? Graham Chalmer. We wondered if this gauge was aviation or automobile? This follows a query from East Loddon Hist. Society. A great story is developing and we wondered if any of our followers may know of this gauge? Any help appreciated. Photo Gippsland History Facebook page.

23.01.2022 It was great to visit Gippsland Vehicle Collection today in Maffra and tour the latest exhibition Maffra Moments. All cars in this exhibition were donated by ...locals in the area. The museum is open over the school holidays and boasts a massive toy car collection that the kids will love. This exhibition will be on show until November and the next collection to display racing vehicles. Thanks to the 800 strong volunteers who dedicate their time to museum. See more

17.01.2022 Coming soon to GVC, something a bit different! Any guesses?

17.01.2022 Gippsland Vehicle Collection, Maffra A few shots from a visit to the Gippsland Vehicle Collection last week. I was intrigued to find the majority of vehicles on... display, despite variable age, are still campaigned by their owners, some very competitively. It is not so much a museum as a chance to get up close and examine the history of motor sport still being made in Gippsland. The volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and I found it a fascinating place. Given the live and changing nature of the displays, I will be returning in a year or two.

17.01.2022 More action at GVC while things are quiet, Solar power going on the annexe roof.

16.01.2022 Wet caused a bit of a bog at our Northern entrance, great work by Macalister Earthmoving has rectified the problem.

15.01.2022 Some changes to the Club Plate renewal process - now available on line as of August 1. Note Highlighted areas! And you still have to have the renewal signed by the endorsed person at GVC at the designated times.

15.01.2022 Recent visit to GVC by the Austin Healey Sprite Club & friends.

15.01.2022 The guys hard at it installing a false ceiling to the retail/entry area, reverse cycle A/C tomorrow and hopefully it will be ready all cosy and warm for Friday. Lets hope we can get to utilise it without Covid shutting things down once more!

15.01.2022 Vale Peter Quennell It is with great sadness that we announce that Peter suffered a stroke over the Christmas period and passed away early Christmas Day. We apologise the lateness of this notice however the timing over Christmas hasn't helped. Peter was one of the instigators of the Gippsland Vehicle Collection and has held some form of executive position since its inception. Peter is survived by his three daughters and his partner Sue Lawrence. Our thoughts are with them a...ll. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held in Maffra on Friday January 8th at 10.30 am beginning with a cavalcade starting at the GVC Museum and gathering at the Maffra Recreation Reserve. More details will follow. May Peter rest in peace. See more

13.01.2022 Only a few days left of the original school holidays, we will be reverting to our normal hours after close of business on Monday 13th July - come and see the "Marvels of Maffra" display and note that we are complying with all the Covid 19 regs that we are all so very tired of!

11.01.2022 Anyone old enough to shed light on the info written on these Petrol rationing tickets, name & rego number would appear to be a possibility for part of it. (Marion Stothers family collection)

11.01.2022 Some more of Russells handiwork - this time a (slightly modified) Ford V4, youll be able to see it as soon as we are able to re-open.

11.01.2022 Car fanatics have raced to the Gippsland Vehicle Collection to view the new 'racers' display. Featuring more than thirty historic racing machines, they're geari...ng up for thousands of visitors over the holiday period. 10.01.2022 A great re-opening of Gippsland Vehicle Collection today. Here a few of the vehicles on display staring today. 09.01.2022 Something to keep your hands warm on this chilly day! Currently 10 deg C (50 F) at GVC and due to be half that soon.

09.01.2022 Socially responsible, socially safe - From Monday 3rd August GVC will be complying with Victorian Government guidelines (Rules) regarding wearing masks, and we ask that our visitors respect these guidelines whilst visiting the Museum. You may not agree, you may have a different opinion, however we ask that you respect the well-being of our staff and other visitors whilst at our premises and adhere to guidelines unless you meet the exemption criteria. Pictured are some examples of masks that dont meet the necessary standard, unless of course you are Michelle Pfeiffer or Halle Berry!

08.01.2022 Engine that was donated some time ago has been lovingly refurbished for display by member Russell M, any guesses as to what its from? The few that are in the know - please dont spoil it for everyone else.

04.01.2022 Looks spensive!

04.01.2022 A 6x4 trailer belonging to Gippsland Armed Forces Museum was stolen from a residential property in Churchill on Sunday night, the trailer had the registration n...umber spray painted on the tail gate: SWQ 926 There is noticeable surface rust on a majority of the trailer. Heavy chains were cut in order to make the theft. Keep an eye out please, it was an essential piece of equipment to our operation.

04.01.2022 Some happy Harley owners visiting GVC today, come & check out our classic Douglas racer currently on display.

04.01.2022 Due to problems with outsourcing we presume, it appears Vic Roads have had problems sending out Club Permit renewals for April & May, if members have a permit due in these months they need to check they have received their notice and processed it, otherwise contact Vicroads. It is the owners responsibility to see their permit is current, even if Vicroads did not send the renewal notice in time. https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au//limite/club-permit-scheme

04.01.2022 Its We Maffra week over in Wellington Still Delivering! Win 1 of 10 $50 Visit Maffra gift vouchers by joining the conversation. Jump into the group and tag ...a friend in the competition post at the top of the feed for a chance to win Well announce the winners of the Maffra Money in Wellington Still Delivering next week

04.01.2022 Club Plate Renewal Process If any member intends to renew their Club Permit electronically through their personal Vic Roads account or through the use of the new endorsement form, it must be signed by Graham Gunning. No other signature is recognized by this computer process. If a member submits their renewal electronically without Grahams signature it will fail the process & create unnecessary follow up work for that member & our GVC club plate staff. It is our reco...mmendation that, where possible, our members follow the renewal process as has been instructed by GVC (i.e. - post the original renewal notice, a stamped self-addressed return envelope & $10) to GVC at PO Box 806 Maffra 3860. Upon receipt of your signed permit, attend a local Vic Roads office to finish the process in person. If this is not possible, we will still honour those members renewal for electronic submission. Enquires can be directed to Graham Gunning on 0409667096 See more

03.01.2022 We are delighted to advise that the GVC will be opening its doors again this Friday 13th of November from 10.00 a.m. with the resumption of our normal hours (10 am - 4 pm Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon) It has been a long long while since we were last able to welcome all of our members and visitors into the museum so we are all very excited. Our time closed has provided us with the opportunity to complete a number of projects which we are sure you will enjoy. The new display is calle...d racers and features a great selection of cars, bikes and other stuff that have taken part in all sorts of competitions over many years. For those of you with Club Plates, you will be please to know that we will now have a Club Plate Officer on duty on Friday, Saturday, Sunday mornings and Monday afternoons. Renewals can still be posted if that works better for you. Those wanting to place a new vehicle on Club Plates still need to make an appointment. Of course, we will be following the COVID restrictions so face masks are mandatory as is signing in when you arrive. There are numerous sanitising stations dotted around and we have the screen in place at our front counter. Hope to see you soon. See more
