19.01.2022 Residents of Labertouche North; PREPARE TO EVACUATE on Sunday morning. The bushfire is expected to change direction and head north-east towards Labertouche Nort...h by 12 noon Sunday 3 March. What you should do: Pack the items you need to be away from home for 3 days. Include clothing, medications, and personal care essentials like nappies. Collect important documents, mementos, photos and pets and take these with you when you evacuate. If you have time and it is safe, tell your neighbours about this warning. Where to go: A relief centre is open at Bellbird Park 270 Settlement Rd Drouin and Pakenham Hall, John St Pakenham. The safest evacuation route is south along Labertouche North Road. The next update is expected by 03/03/2019 07:30 am or as the situation changes. 13.01.2022 To loose everything you own in a blink of an eye is something few of us can fully understand. You'll have no doubt by now heard the story of Walhalla area local... and Maidentown resident Colin [aka "Sheriff"...it's a long story!] who lost his Maidentown home. It was a modest shack, but home nether-the-less for Sheriff. He lost the lot. The Department of Heath & Human Services has stepped in to provide Sheriff with some emergency funding so he can purchase some clothes, shoes, new glasses and other basics that we take for granted hour by hour. If you would like to help Sheriff you can. His daughter has set up a "Go Fund Me" page to raise funds so that Sheriff can re-start his life in Maidentown. Sheriff visited his destroyed home yesterday and was holding it together...just. He wanted to say thank you to everyone who has assisted him so far and that he is humbled but number of people who are helping him through this ordeal.
