25.01.2022 The smoke has lifted and there is no rain in sight for now so our children are busy getting to work on some outdoor art! Three different materials for the children to experiment on with three different painting/drawing utensils! White paper with textas, crayons and pencils. ... Black paper with chalk. Cardboard with paint. See more

25.01.2022 The children building their courage and strength climbing the frame outside this morning! It is great to see all the children able to come together on one piece of equipment and play so nicely.

25.01.2022 Today has been the perfect sunny weather to encourage outdoor play! What better way to do so than in the sand pit which is full of texture and opportunities to increase motor skills with spades, buckets and sand castle building!

25.01.2022 Team work and encouragement! Both very important messages to be taught to the children in our centre. Two friends working through an obstacle together, helping each other get to the end and get back up if they fall off! Really great to see the children working together like this, even in such a small activity these skills translate to real life circumstances as they get older!

24.01.2022 One little one very eager and mesmerised with the older kids and their obstacle courses! Watching the children grow from one room to the next is such an exciting part of early childhood care. You see them going from just wanting to do something to being physically able to.

23.01.2022 Inside practicing arts and crafts today among other warm indoor activities! Reflecting the past few weeks of beautiful Autumn weather and what colours and objects we associate with that time of the year as we now dive right into a very cold winter!

22.01.2022 Experimentation is a really important part in a child's life as they discover how different things move and interact with other objects and surfaces. These children are pushing big Lego pieces along the concrete tiled floor, making loud sounds and discovering a sensory experience as the plastic vibrates and shakes as they push it beneath their tiny hands.

21.01.2022 Lots of story times around the centre today! With some little ones even taking on the task themselves!

20.01.2022 Learning and playing together allows the children to learn from each other new skills and also have the opportunity to teach their friends something new as well. It is so nice to see all the children playing nicely together despite being trapped inside the past few days due to the wet weather. Now that it is all cleared up though it is time to go and play out in the sunshine with the obstacle courses, toy cars, sandpits and painting!

19.01.2022 Some of our nursery children looking out into the big wide world that awaits them as they grow! Excited to experience outside of their sand pit maybe a little sooner than their mum and dads may like!

18.01.2022 So many different outlets of creativity and discovery await our little ones! Giraffe staff always encourage exploration through creativity, literature and discovering different textures. Young children are constantly exposed to new experiences and building on their internal database of likes and dislikes. Giraffe Early Learning Centre is the perfect place to safely discover these preferences!

16.01.2022 Our Preschool children have created a space themed play area! There are pictures and information on all the planets in our solar system. The children had a great time putting this amazing and informative area together! They have learnt a lot about our world while getting involved in some really fun and challenging arts and crafts as well!

16.01.2022 It is no secret that children's minds are creative, limitless and imaginative. They are able to see things completely differently to adults and react to spaces through imaginative play. Below is an example of how our kids have used this amazing ability to create space and materials into something else. They have turned a simple sandpit into a small lake with a bridge and pipes where they can pretend to fish or swim or jump onto the bridge to avoid getting wet. Children's imagination is incredible and continues to amaze our educators every day as they watch them grow.

16.01.2022 These mats contain sealed water and colouring which move and change shape with weight. Our Nursery children really enjoy watching the different ways the colour and water interact as they press, crawl, sit and walk over them.

16.01.2022 Children use their constructions to stand for things, as they play-out what they know and understand about their world.

15.01.2022 Afternoon tea time! The same as adults, children generate so much energy from the nutrients they put into their bodies through food! Our afternoon teas consist of healthy fruits and vegetables and as you can see just before the kids go out to play the plates are very empty!

15.01.2022 A few weeks ago the children learnt about Australia's indigenous heritage and took part in creating this beautiful indigenous inspired artwork from what they had learnt.

15.01.2022 As the weather begins to get warmer we are encouraging our children to drink even more water when running around outside! Or to even play in shaded areas for some relief from the sun and heat. The importance of hydration and sun safety cannot be stressed enough to children as they are at an age where habits are developed and we hope to help create healthy habits for them.

14.01.2022 Imagination is a beautiful thing. Creating things out of completely different materials. These little boys created a race track out of the edge of the sandpit-box! It is great to see the children using their imaginations and enhancing plain and logical structures into something fun and interactive.

13.01.2022 Outdoor time is always important. It encourages exercise, creativity and allows us to soak up the all-important Vitamin D. There are so many different options when playing outside, from climbing the climbing frame to driving around in the pretend cars. The concrete path which lines some of the outdoor play areas is a perfect blank canvas for our children to stretch their imaginations and creative capacity.

13.01.2022 During the whole month of June the Preschool 3 children were very busy working on our VIVID PROJECT. How it started. During a group time conversation there was a lot of excitement among some children who have seen the Vivid light display at Taronga Zoo. The children decided to make their own Vivid.... They discussed among themselves and as a group and they came up with the following plan. Children will draw different animals so they can know what they have to build. With so many entries, children used the democratic process of voting which drawings they would like to see become light statues. The educators need to get different construction materials for the children to choose which ones are good for building. Angelina will buy colourful lights. Children will make arrow signs and a map so the parents know where to go and not get lost in the dark. We need to make an invitation card for all the parents and invite them to the light show. The whole Vivid project took approximately 6 weeks, where children collaborated with each other and each and everyone of them played a part in making our Vivid a success. They are still adding more things to it and we look forward to seeing what other ideas the children will come up with.

12.01.2022 Group reading session this afternoon! All the children were eager to not only listen to their educators story time though also read themselves a book. Beginning to explore words on their own is a great milestone in their learning journey!

12.01.2022 Environments that support learning are vibrant and flexible spaces that are responsive to the interest and abilities of each child.

10.01.2022 Some of our children ready to take on more responsibility at home by the looks of things! So many different toys and activities at Giraffe, incorporating both realistic play and imaginative at the same time! It is really great to see kids beginning to understand the functions of many day to day 'chores' they may see mum and dad doing at home!

07.01.2022 Some of the children this morning practicing their culinary capabilities with some delicious looking sand pies!

06.01.2022 Playing together and engaging with their surroundings today so nicely! There are so many different activities and outdoor entertainment to explore and interact with Giraffe Early Learning Centre! Whether in a team or by themselves the children are loving the beautiful cooler days with clear skies!

06.01.2022 Sometimes the reason to send children to childcare is so that they are given an opportunity to make friends and learn social skills. At Giraffe we encourage everyone to move at their own pace around whether they are shy or outgoing. Making friends can be hard for some children and to others it comes naturally. At Giraffe we both step back to watch the children becoming beautiful friends and sometimes we offer our guidance and support of those who find it a little harder.

05.01.2022 With around 78 bushfires currently happening on the mid-north coast air quality, today has been listed as extremely poor and in some parts hazardous. Today, across both our Sydney centres, has been treated as a 'rain' day with the children remaining inside and participating in an array of activities such as dancing, imaginative play, reading and more!

05.01.2022 We had our Easter breakfast on Thursday. Our children and families had a fabulous time.

05.01.2022 It is so important to understand and acknowledge that every child is different with different interests. Here is a great depiction of children all sharing space and learning together through different activities unique to their personal set of interests.

04.01.2022 We are always encouraging the children in our centre to explore their creative side which ever way that may take form.

04.01.2022 Quiet time is always nice and it is good to have a designated area for quiet play and/or reading. This little cubby is set up in up in our preschool room and is designed to offer the children a relaxing place to play, read or chat with their friends.

04.01.2022 There are many important people in a child's life. For the children who attend Giraffe Early Learning Centre some of these people are the educators in the centre. The educators at Giraffe are here for the children to help them with all the things that are important with growing and sometimes just to watch and support them while they figure things out on their own.

02.01.2022 Our paint wall outside is the perfect way for children to explore a creative side without fear of creating a mess. Mess is always encouraged at Giraffe. Allowing children to create a mess is a really great way to encourage them to not be afraid of mess and disarray as long as everyone pitches in and helps to clean up once the fun and activity is complete. This way children can explore, learn and play with limited boundaries and also learn the importance of taking responsibility for their choices - making a mess is okay as long as we clean it up once we are finished.

01.01.2022 So many different activities for the growth of so many different skills. Some children prefer the sand pit where they can work on their hand-eye co-ordination with scooping sand into different objects. Some enjoy tackle obstacles alone, working at their own pace to learn something. Others enjoy playing a large group, learning from others and perhaps developing a competitive streak where they learn to push themselves outside of comfort zones and experience new things. ... Every child is different and the wide range of activities at Giraffe embrace each child's individuality.

01.01.2022 A really exceptional read about life lessons, 'failures' and their positives! http://www.essentialkids.com.au//good-parents-let-their-ch

01.01.2022 As Winter is now well and truly upon us it is important to rug up especially when participating in outdoor activities! Big warm jackets and lots of layers for outside play and our kiddies are ready to tackle the outside and stay warm and toasty!
