25.01.2022 Welcome. To the 20mx20m square. Great for when you have limited space as A dressage arena is made up of 3 of these little puppies. inside you can practice many movements including but not exclusive to the 20M circle, the halt, the turn at c, as well as turns required for other movements. Think outside the box by making your own!

25.01.2022 Sundays Trot pole configuration. Two lines. One line of 3 poles at 1m apart. And one line of 3 poles at 3m apart. This configuration is good for control and accuracy.

23.01.2022 One of my favourite methods in de-spooking and gentling a horse is the use of the plastic bag. It is even more fun when the horse is as expressive as sugar.

22.01.2022 In dire need of a bath a rug and her farrier, Sugars first day back in training after injury went swimmingly

18.01.2022 Not sure about correct warm-up arena etiquette? Here are all the basic dos and donts LINK: http://www.dressagensw.equestrian.org.au/warm-up-etiquette #Equestrian #EquestrianQLD #Raisingthebar

18.01.2022 #MidweekMotivation... Because these two are pretty much everything you need right now.

15.01.2022 It is important to have a strong core for an independent seat. Here is one of my favourite workouts which strengthens the core and flattens the tum tum and tones the bum bum https://youtu.be/61dlcWvK3OU

15.01.2022 Not something I ever did to begin with. Not even for show ring cosmetic purposes.

15.01.2022 If youre anything like me you get overwhelmed at fast speeds as you try to take in everything. So dont be afraid to slow down. It doesnt matter when you get there. Slow and steady wins the race. Just like the tortoise and the hare.

15.01.2022 Todays trot pole configuration... circle on the left and a straight line on the right. Broke up the boredom asked my lazy horse to use her hind legs AND we had zero spooks!

15.01.2022 Too often I see people indulge in common myths about bitless bridles and barefoot trimming as they see shoes and bits quite cruel, which is their perception. However, this bloke debunks the two myths in less than 10 minutes, showing that these principles often do more harm than good. Use a bit. Put shoes on when necessary. Youll be fine. Your horse will probably thank you. https://youtu.be/fExqHO6U-cA

13.01.2022 Ground Work, I find is more important than what you do in the saddle as it establishes trust, and the foundations of a bond between partners. Buildings are built from the ground up, and the strongest have stood for eons. Why would you start anywhere else?

13.01.2022 Once I have set my work area up once a week we will be posting video on equine nutrition. The good the bad and the down right ugly. So stay tuned! Feel free to send in questions!

13.01.2022 Only One Week Away

12.01.2022 I smell a change in the air... Thats right! Autumn is upon us and in the wake of Debbie the season is finally transitioning to cooler nights and fresher mornings. It is the perfect time to worm your horse. For best results it is optimal to rotate your wormer suitable for each season. This Autumn we have opted to go with an Oxyfendazole based product.

12.01.2022 Early morning rides are beneficial in more ways than one as they are a great way to start the day! Todays trot pole configuration was a variation of the 20mx20m square.

11.01.2022 The Show ring can be a hectic place for a horse. It doesnt matter whether they are old, young or just plain spooky. Familiarising your horse to the rigmarole of the competition life can be smooth, or it can be difficult. Choose small select outings that will boost their confidence not only in themselves, but also in you. Their rider. Their Boss. For me that is dressage. The days are small, and the competitors as well as volunteers are friendly and helpful.

11.01.2022 It is always good to learn. Use every day to learn something new. But.. uni study... is so time consuming.

11.01.2022 Always be mindful when feeding your horses and how they react. Every horse is an individual. Let their behaviour (and health signs) be your guide. Were gonna say no to the Mag-E. We have enough magnesium in our system.

10.01.2022 You never know the true quality of your work until you see it in somebody elses hands. I have amazing horses.

08.01.2022 My apologies everyone for remaining silent for so long, The end of the year has been a busy one. But now with our crew up and running please stay tuned for potentially exciting time to come.

08.01.2022 Weve been on hiatus for 6 months...... Stay tuned. After an Injury meaning a late start to show season there is much to come.

03.01.2022 Heigh Ho Heigh Ho The show ring life for me.... To Show is to live

02.01.2022 Ride it like its stolen!

02.01.2022 Tack Review: The Chambon For a skinny piece of elastic, the chambon is a handy tool (particularly for difficult horses) to encourage acceptance through pressure and release. Unlike simple side reins, the elastic acts not only on the jaw but also on the back of the poll and allows immediate alleviation of pressure the moment the horse places its head in the desired position. The chambon also develops the muscle of the neck. Remember, the horses head is 10% of its bodyweight so a horse that is not well muscled will struggle with carriage. However the use of the chambon (or any restrictive aid) is taxing on the animal and should only be used for short periods of time.

01.01.2022 For any true showie.. The most important day of the week is the day before a show. Mine starts with a basket.
