25.01.2022 Spread the news! A new wooden spoon community has opened in Girgarre- "Spoon-Gig-Ville"!... The new spoon estate is located on a mulch pile in the shared car-park of Girgarre Community Kindergarten and Girgarre Primary School (School Road). Look for the sign and the other wooden spoons. We are inviting the wider community to become involved with the project- decorate a wooden spoon and add it to the mulch pile. We look forward to watching the spoon population grow .

24.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 14.01.2022 During and following the 2019/20 fire season, $25 million was donated to CFA. $4.8 million of these donations were allocated to one of CFA’s four programs to di...stribute donations a tools and equipment ‘District Pick List’. The 11,000 items distributed to 95% of CFA’s 1200 brigades from this list will help us protect our communities across the state. To everyone who donated to CFA thank you.

11.01.2022 We are glad to say that the Girgarre Market will be re-opening on Sunday 8th of November. Please note the new start time of 9am. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, the Fire Brigade will not be there running the BBQ. But please do not let this change your mind about coming to our wonderful market. There will still be plenty of stalls to see and food to purchase. It has been a long winter, but our community is looking forward to seeing your smiling faces again.

08.01.2022 Being part of our brigade is not just about putting out fires, it is also about community service. This little kitten had an adventure this morning, that led to it being caught inside the wall cavity of its home. We are happy to say it is back in the safe arms of its owners. Unfortunately, the wall was not as lucky.
