22.01.2022 Our Junior Guides unit started back on Monday night and what excitement it was seeing everyone again! We also had three girls visit to see if they’d like to join. Yay!! We are working on our Science and Technology badge this term. It’s going to be lots of fun learning and doing the activities to achieve this badge To start off this badge, the Junior Guides played a few games, and got to make salt snowflakes and crayon resistance Winter themed pictures. 17.01.2022 This week our Junior Guides made koala SWAPS for our Canadian Girl Guides penpals and they made one for themselves as well. How cute do they look! Then the girls made a tree using nature items from outside that koalas could live in. Great creations were made We also discussed about Save The Koala month which Girl Guides Queensland is a Gold supporter of. 13.01.2022 Over the past 16 weeks, some of our Southport Guides have been taking part in the Tech girls are superheroes competition. The competition provides a platform to teach girls entrepreneurship and coding skills through designing and developing their own apps to help the community around them. One of our teams developed Helpyo! 12.01.2022 This week in Junior Guides it was a theme about air. So, to help demonstrate how air works, they got to make parachutes and helicopters. We had a competition between our three patrols to see who's parachute and helicopter could fly the fastest. Then the winners of each patrol competed to see which girl had the fastest of them. One perk of having a two storey Guide hut, the girls stood on the balcony to let their parachutes and helicopters go

09.01.2022 Recently our Senior Guides had an international/World Guiding night! Usually when we do this we do activities in an effort to learn about countries around the world and Guiding in other places but this time we were able to hear what it’s like straight from some of those people who live around the world! We had Girl Guides join us from; ... Ukraine United Kingdom New Zealand The Netherlands And a Guide leader who told us about her trips to 3 of our World Centres; Our Chalet (Switzerland), Sangam (India), Pax Lodge (England) and all the other places she’s been with Guides around the world! What an amazing opportunity for our girls to be able to learn about Guiding around the world in our Zoom meeting!

Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the world work to empower girls and young women and teach them how to be the leaders and change makers of our future. Young women can be strong and fierce in what they do, just as we have watched the likes of Joan of Arc, Malala and Greta Thunberg be across time. ... 03.01.2022 How exciting for our Tech Girls Teams to come away from the Tech girls are superheroes competition being recognised for their hard work! The Helpyo Team won in 2 categories! The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Award for Sustainable Cities and Communities and also the Best Business Plan Award. Once again we would like to say a massive thank you to our mentors Olivia Balderston from TechnologyOne and Kayla Williams from Downer Defence Systems for all of their ha...rd work in helping our teams!
