24.01.2022 Just a shout out to all the ladies who are/have been part of our women’s programs over the years You are all awesome. As a coach to see how far out of your comfort zone some of you are to begin with and watching you grow and build confidence out in the water is truly inspiring. It shows that it is absolutely NEVER too late to start anything and the magic most definitely does happen outside of our comfort zone Thanks for motivating me & inspiring me. To the ladies who come to me to learn to surf, I am also learning valuable lessons from you every day. It goes both ways. Feel very grateful to be a part of the #girlsonboardcommunity
24.01.2022 Teaching me to surf as a little grom has got to be one of the best gifts my parents ever gave me. Surfing has been the inspiration and motivation to every step I’ve taken on my journey. I mean this on an extremely deep level. The ocean has taught me so much. It grounds me. It’s taught me to respect Mother Nature. It’s where I have the most fun. Many of my closest relationships and connections are formed from a mutual love of the ocean. Surfing’s taken me on the most incred...ible adventures around the globe. There are too many things to list but of course most importantly it’s lead me to live my dream life working a job that I absolutely love and exploring the big wide world in my down time. My goal is to pass this gift on to as many groms as I possibly can. As for you big groms (adults ) it is never too late to start enjoying this incredible lifestyle that is surfing. 23.01.2022 Accurate representation of us when land bound for longer than 24 hours Before & after. Anyone else feel this?! On a more serious note, feeling for all Melbournians / those in lockdown who’ve not been able to get their salt water fix for a long time. Fingers crossed you get this soon Artwork by @robinlanei_art

20.01.2022 You lot have been keeping us so busy in the water these holidays that we’ve barely had time to post. It’s been nice to see the Island come alive again and people enjoying this beautiful place that we are very grateful to call home. See you down the beach! You know where to find us
17.01.2022 Surfing is difficult. Learning to surf is difficult. But it’s a challenge! And that is addictive. No matter where you are at with your surfing, there will always be something to challenge you.. officially addicted since ‘96 Art by @robinlanei_art
17.01.2022 Finishing up our first week of school holiday programs today. We haven’t managed to get any pics so here’s a fave from last year It’s been a fun few days with our small group of 5-11 year olds. So nice to see them come out of their shells and make new friends. I remember when I was younger these types of experiences left a lasting impression and it’s so cool be able to pass this on to the younger generation! pic @indiapaynephotography
17.01.2022 If you are sick of being stuck lugging all the kids boards down the beach then you need this in your life! It's a game changer. It slips over the rail of the board and is used as a handle. Also very handy (scuze the pun) for adults who struggle carrying big boards. I use one to carry my long board :) https://www.girlsonboard.com.au//surf-claw-surfboard-handle

06.01.2022 We are half way through our first Mental Health & Well-being surfing program in partnership with the YMCA a big thanks to the girls for being our first ever participants of the program and rocking up each week ready to go! THANK YOU to @curlpi & Emily for all of your hard work behind the scenes in making this happen. Without these two this would not have been possible Also to Carla & Jenny for your help and Jai from @phillipisland.discoverycamp ... Last but not least, thank you to Phillip Island Bus for sponsoring our first program and the rest of the community for your incredible support!! We hope to continue this program for a long time to come!
04.01.2022 Wasn’t sure whether or not to share this but I’ve decided to as I think the transparency is so important and what you see through Instagram pictures and filters is not always the full story! To be honest, 2020 was a really tough year for me (Jess) on a personal level. This has been the busiest year yet for Girls on Board but the hardest year to date. I’ve spent the year battling with extreme exhaustion but no real answers as to why. The healing journey has been like a full... time job in itself so running the surf school where the demand is growing fast has been a total struggle especially on the days where I can barely pull myself out of bed. This has in turn forced me to take the next step in the business and bring in some new coaches. Something that I’ve always been hesitant to do. After 8 years of putting my all into Girls on Board (my baby ) you can understand how difficult it can be! I’ve been so, so lucky to have a couple of legends jump on board and add their own little charms to the surf school and now see it as a complete blessing in disguise! Thank you to you all for being part of our journey in a year that has been difficult for all in one way or another. Our connection to the ocean and Mother Nature only grew stronger this year and is something to be forever grateful for. Onwards and upwards from here my friends. Take care & see you in the water
04.01.2022 A massive THANK YOU to Michael from South Coast Bus for sponsoring our first Mental Health & Well-being Teen Surf Program in collaboration with YMCA. A shoutout to @curlpi for all of your hard work as well as @phillipisland.discoverycamp for providing us with extra equipment for the program. We’ve had an overwhelming amount of support from members of our community (local & far away) and we cannot thank you enough. To see such an important issue be so well received and supported is seriously awesome. We feel humbled to be part of a kind + caring community.
03.01.2022 summer calls for surf adventures and long days spent outdoors (not today )
02.01.2022 What a rad session we had this morning! Thank you to @gippygirlscan & @basscoastshire for providing this opportunity for women to get in the water and give surfing a try! We loved our session this morning Thanks Em and team for organising. Looking forward to the next one!
