20.01.2022 Despite the beautiful forget-me-not blue skies, the thunder rolled through Girraween Environmental Lodge in the form of over 20 BMW R1200GS’s on their trail through some of Australia’s most spectacular landscapes. For some it was the beginning of an 8000km trek, for others the continuing epic journey of what has already been an 8000km ride through the northern reaches of the Australian scene. This year saw us play host to all three of our European friends jaunt’s with Frog (E...ric), the intrepid explorer who manages to incite jubilation and adventure into the everyday. From Brisbane to Townsville, across to Alice Springs and back again for the Northbound, then Brisbane to Hobart to Adelaide and back again for the Southbound, with a return anniversary trip for the vintage Citreon’s from Brisbane to Uluru to Perth and back home to their own continent. We at Girraween were the beginning of their adventures or the final resting spot before heading back home to France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, or wherever these explorers hailed from. What a phenomenal group of people. During their stay we played host with a wine tasting and camp oven stew around the fire for the Australian feel, with a little bit of luxury on top. Singing and laughing, with host Kelly's birthday falling on the beginning of their final leg, what should have been a meet & greet for our exhausted guests was turned into a birthday bonanza of boisterous proportions as our 33 guests arrived throughout the day all hailing birthday greetings. Serenaded, toasted and welcomed into the group, with people like these, it was hard to know who was welcoming who. Looking very forward to their next adventures.
