23.01.2022 The Best Horses in Heaven, They Have No Tail by Miska Paget... The best horses in Heaven they have no tail. This is a rule they all know without fail. For when a new horse arrives with a short cut bob, they all know that this horse did a very good job. His owner could not bear to part with her friend so she saved his tail, wrapped in ribbons and in braids, to hold with his memory in a very loving way. To enter Heaven without a tail is an honor, a message, that without fail announces to everyone, far and wide that this horse was more than a wonderful ride. But this horse was loved and cherished by one and when his time serving on this Earth was done he left behind a broken heart and a soul from which he never will part. Made by: The Puppy Artist

22.01.2022 Attention, this is not a game nor funny! If you ever see your cat or dog doing this, you need to take him urgently to the vet. Some owners may find this behavio...r funny but it has a medical reason. It's known as Head Pressing, cats and dogs also horses do this when they are suffering from a terrible headache. They are suffering so much that they need to press their head against the wall. Due to a damage to the nervous system, animals act like this. The causes can be from a toxic poisoning, a disease of the forebrain, a tumor in the head, an injury after an accident, etc. Care to share.

16.01.2022 To keep a relaxed, flexible feel of the reins ... Hold the reins as if you had a hamster in each hand. Avoid squeezing so hard that you would hurt the little c...reatures, but maintain enough soft tension to keep them from wriggling away. 16.01.2022 Hey Guys! Some new rules for you at Gisborne Equestrian Centre. ********************************************** Due to Covoid 19 and safety of my own health and yours- the following will come into affect today 8th of April. ... ******************************************* *We all touch the same gate to come in and leave the property so wash your hands as soon as you get out of your car, BYO your own towel, scrub tap handle as well while you are washing your hands. *I will be locking the gate every day at 5pm Sharp for my own safety, plus I don’t want to be out in the cold night air any later then that as I’m already sick and an Asthmatic. So please respect my wishes and leave at my stated time. I shouldn’t have to be waiting in the cold to lock the gate behind you... it’s freezing and I don’t feel like catching Pneumonia! (I think this is reasonable because you have all tended to your horses earlier then 5pm and I know it can be done.) *Gate will be re-opened of a morning at 09:30am unless organised earlier for farrier or vet. * One Visit a day to see your horse, Groom, work your horse etc. If you don’t need to do anything with your horse or check an injury... please stay at home. My property isn’t a Country club. it’s here to look after your horses, and I pride myself on doing that well, that’s why you pay for full care... however I need to look after myself. I do Understand these are tough Rules. However I’m looking after myself and all of you, to stop any contagion that we may come into contact with. ***********************************************

01.01.2022 I was thinking to myself as I was feeding my horses this morning, if I could talk to every horse owner in the world, for just one minute, what would I tell the...m? What is the one piece of information that would make the biggest positive difference to their horse’s life? And this is what it would be NEVER ride your horse on an empty stomach. Or said another way, always feed your horse hay or let him graze pasture right before you ride. Because for us, as humans, to exercise on a full stomach is really uncomfortable right?! We feel sluggish. We get a stitch. And it is just downright uncomfortable. So why on earth would I say to make sure your horse has a full stomach before you ride? Well, the thing is, horses and humans are completely different in the way we eat and in the way our stomach works. We (humans) are meal feeders. We eat food in distinct meals. While we eat, our stomach switches on acid production. Then when we stop eating, acid production is switched off. So we can go for a really long time (like overnight) without eating and it’s not an issue. And yes, it's more comfortable, for us, to exercise on an empty stomach. Horses on the other hand are grazers, or trickle feeders. They are designed to eat almost constantly over a 24-hour period. And will take only very short (less than 2 to 3 hour) breaks between feeding if left to feed naturally. Because of this, their stomach NEVER switches off acid production. And this is why you must not ride on an empty stomach. For a guide on how much to feed before you ride, here's a table of suggested amounts of hay, depending on your horse’s situation.
