25.01.2022 Hello everyone, It looks like isolation is going to continue for the rest of the pony club financial year so we have some alternative activities on offer. There is something for everyone including on line private lessons, group certificate sessions, an online show with showing, dressage and sporting events and lots of fun do at home challenges including members who can't access their horses. These activities will be run through the members group and some special groups will ...be set up for your certificate groups and the competitions. Please can all members join the members group and look out for instructions on how to join in these activities! We will have an online rally on our normal date to check in on how everyone is going with the activities and connect everyone together.

23.01.2022 PCA has created an exciting new syllabus. The new proficiency manuals based on the new syllabus are now for sale online, in the Members' Store. It builds on the old syllabus and includes equitation science and horse welfare components. That now means the E, D, D*, C, C*, K and B are all available for members to purchase from the PCA website. The new A Manual is still some time off. ... Members are able to continue using the old E, D, D*, C, C* and K manuals for assessments under the old syllabus up until October 2020, and for B until February 2021. http://www.ponyclubaustralia.com.au/Manuals.aspx

23.01.2022 Good Morning all Central Zone Clubs and DCs. A reminder that entries close soon for the State & Interzone HT. Grades 1-3 need 2 qualifiers. Grades 4-5 need t...o be graded by there club DC. With what we have all been through over the last year I’m sure that some of you may be a little concerned as to what is required to be eligible to compete. I will endeavour to get everyone who wants to compete a place in a CZ team. Hopefully State organising committee will be extending the closing date so that those riders in grades 1-3 have a chance to compete over the coming weekend. If you have any issues you would like to discuss please feel free to contact me. Remembering that this event is being held in our Zone, it would be great to see as many riders as possible enter. I can be contacted anytime on 0447541878 or email [email protected] Regards Des Haliday CZ Representative

22.01.2022 At Collegiate Saddlery we pride ourselves on providing our customers with high quality products that ensure the safety and comfort of both the rider and the hor...se. We recently discovered a fault and are recalling a number of Collegiate saddle models. Customers can view the full list of affected models on our website at www.collegiatesaddlery.com.au/collegiate-saddle-recall. Customers with the potentially affected saddle models are to stop using the saddle immediately and book an inspection appointment through our call centre by calling 1300 319 000 or by contacting your local Horseland store. All customers who bring in a recalled saddle for inspection will be given a $100 Horseland voucher. This fault falls short of our high quality and safety standards and we have redesigned the particular saddles to rectify the issue and advised the ACCC. Further information on the recall can be found at www.collegiatesaddlery.com.au/collegiate-saddle-recall.

21.01.2022 Now that D* is compulsory, that content is no longer repeated in the C Certificate. It also means that D* is a necessary step to getting your C Certificate. Thi...s might be important if your state requires you to hold a C Certificate to take part in State Champs or participate in a team. 20.01.2022 The MAD magazine is now digital. There are lots of things inside to do at home!

20.01.2022 Wishing everyone a Happy Easter Good luck to Gisborne PC members competing this weekend at Riddells Creek Open and PC Horse Trials.

20.01.2022 The grounds are still closed as per council guidelines. You may see the gates open due to building construction but the cross country course is wet and preferred not be used to prevent damage. Arenas can only be used by clubs managing the numbers within government guidelines so we hope to have a rally but they are hard locked for now. Keep an eye on the IR Robertson Reserve website for updates.

19.01.2022 A COVID SAFE RETURN TO EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITIES Equestrian Victoria (EV), Pony Club Victoria (PCV) and the Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria (HRCAV) are co...mmitted to ensuring the health and safety of our members and community. We continue to remain engaged with all levels of government and industry bodies around the COVID-19 situation, providing you with the latest information as it translates to our sporting landscape. Following Friday’s announcement by the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison about the national 3-step recovery plan, and this morning’s announcement by the Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews there is now a gradual easing of government restrictions that will allow the resumption of SOME equestrian activities. From 11.59pm tomorrow evening (Tuesday 12 May), outdoor recreational activities can be undertaken in groups of up to 10 participants, subject to social distancing and hygiene measures being implemented. This means members may now: Ride off property Travel horses locally and regionally including for training/coaching but no overnight stays Participate in outdoor training/coaching activities with a maximum of 10 participants Note: i. Riders should check with venue as owners/managers who may have venue specific restrictions ii. Social distancing (1.5m) and good hygiene MUST be maintained iii. These allowances are for outdoor areas only no gatherings for recreational activities indoors are permitted iv. Groups can be no larger than 10 (plus the coaches and helpers required to run the activity). More than one group of 10 can be present on a venue at the same time, if the different groups are physically well separated on different parts of the venue. No other facilities except toilet facilities may be used. Members may continue to: Have coaches, farriers, trainers, vets, and other equine professionals attend your property Attend agistment centres to care for horses subject to venue owner/manager specific restrictions The approach to activities/training should focus on ‘get in, train, get out’, minimising unnecessary contact in stables, toilet facilities, and any communal areas. BE SAFE, CAUTIOUS & APPROPRIATE. The Premier’s announcement is effective until 11.59pm 31 May, by which time we should have a more detailed plan that we can build upon to support the return to events and competitions here in Victoria, guiding our sport out of this crisis. We understand the desire from members to return to group activities and competitions as soon as possible. PCV equally share this desire and we look forward to further announcements by the Victoria government over the coming week(s). We will release a more detailed and a stepped plan once we have that information. The equine community is well positioned to move through the federal government and AIS frameworks. However, it is likely that modifications will be required to some of our current resources to mitigate additional risks related to COVID-19 based on government advice. We thank you for your continued support during this challenging period and encourage members to contact the EV, PCV or HRCAV offices (as appropriate) if we can be of any assistance with advice or support. Please note, that our office hours and days have not changed since our last announcement. Let’s all continue to exercise caution we don’t want to take a backward step just as we begin to move forward. 01.01.2022 Grooming is something we learn lots about in the lower proficiency certificates and then as we get more experienced we tend not to think too much about it. But... grooming is a great way to strengthen your bond with your horse, practice mindfulness, be physically active and get to know what is 'normal' for your horse. This can be invaluable when you are considering your horse's health or talking with your vet. Why not try some of the techniques in this article on once-over grooming and let us know what you learn about your horse. https://thehorse.com/120130/once-over-grooming/ #ponyclubplanb #belearning #beconnected #beactive #becreative
