23.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all our Thunder Dads. Enjoy your day.
23.01.2022 ' When you spill oil on a chopping board, it doesn't matter how many times you try to clean it; the mark remains. Over time, with cons...tant washing, it gradually fades, but you know it is still there. It is still a good chopping board; you wouldn't stop using it or throw it away. In fact, the stain is a good reminder of what you did and to be more careful next time. The same goes for anxiety. Many see the first signs of anxiety as damaging and quickly give up on that activity. This creates a vicious loop one that soon has you feeling like you are missing out fuelling sadness, and too frightened to attempt the activity again - heightening your anxiety further. Like the soap on the board working to reduce the oil stain, you need to push through. As you become more skilled in your efforts, your anxiety will soon subside. Anxiety can be controlled. With time and effort, you can learn to recognise your triggers and take action, reducing its impact, and like the stain, a faded memory. A memory that can add to your resilience. What activity do you need to push through? Feel free to connect & learn more because #goalsmatter #whatinspiresme #success #anxiety #motivation

20.01.2022 Updates and FAQs: COVID-19 30th December 2020; 19:00 By Dr Umair Masood ... We have had 61 days without any community transmission of COVID-19 cases in Victoria. We have had some COVID cases in hotel quarantine from returned travellers to Victoria, but they were all managed and isolated when they arrived. These cases did not pose any risk to the community at large. However, have been found in Victoria today. These cases are being urgently investigated but it is thought that they may be linked to the cases in NSW. The cases were found in three different areas: Hallam, Mitcham and Mentone. None of these cases have been overseas recently. The identified cases and their contacts are apparently in isolation already and the authorities are confident of this. No new restrictions have been placed by the Victorian health authorities at this stage due to these new cases. ? Please be careful of NYE celebrations and gathering in large crowds in the next few days Minimise travel towards Melbourne CBD and avoid the areas where the cases were detected Practice social distancing Wear your masks Practice hand hygiene Avoid going to NSW if possible Most importantly, don’t get complacent and please use your common sense. After most of 2020, we are all aware of what we need to be mindful of

17.01.2022 Your #goals and aspirations should scare you, which means you are going to experience pressure, but what happens when that pressure... creates PANIC. I was hyperventilating, negative thoughts spinning through my head and absolutely exhausted when it was all over. We automatically assume pressure or fear is the problem, and we need to back off or quit. But pressure is normal when you are chasing something important to you. The problem is how we approach and deal with pressure. Suppressing those feelings of pressure by telling yourself you're okay or aren’t feeling any, only adds to the issue. Do you look at pressure as a threat or a challenge? By creating a challenge mindset and knowing the right mental skills to deal with this pressure, you will soon be back on track to achieve your #goals. If you would like a fact sheet on the mental skills needed to overcome panic comment Pressure in the comments. 17.01.2022 If you answered positively, you are more likely to achieve success. But what happens if you don’t?... Self-belief can be hard to muster, especially in the face of challenge or difficult work. Then our voice of self-doubt starts its attack: ' . ' . ' . ' . Often it is not the failure we scared of but being a success. As a result, we hold ourselves back and that allows that self-doubt to flourish, then it starts affecting our confidence and stops us from pursuing our dreams. Here are some tips to turn your thinking around. Think of reasons why you can Remember, winners always started at the beginning List all those harder things you’ve accomplished And lastly, action is always better than regret. What are you starting today? Is it time to evaluate your goals? Feel free to connect & learn more because #goalsmatter #motivation #whatinspiresme #wellbeing

16.01.2022 With all of the analysis of swimmers that we do, this one fault really stands out as a major cause of a dropped elbow catch. Can you guess what it is? It's the ...position of the shoulder during the catch. If it's dropped too low and is well below the head it makes a high elbow position extremely difficult to achieve. A drill that we've given to swimmers inside our stroke analysis membership is Shoulder2Cheek Scoop, where you'll hold a paddle between shoulder and cheek while going through the catch motion. It helps retrain the position of the shoulder during the catch. It's best done with fins and snorkel We made a video on this a few years ago that you will find helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d40c8WL2XJQ

08.01.2022 Hi everyone, some last minute info about tomorrows meet.... Its going to be HOT!! 36 is the predicted temp, so please make sure you have plenty of water wit...h you and bring along your clubs gazebo for shade (if you have one). Gates will open from 7.30 to allow time for everyone to get in before warmup starts at 8. 07.01.2022 Hi All, We are looking forward to a fun and safe Xmas Club Night. Kicking off at 6pm this Saturday at GAC. Due to numbers being capped this will be for members and immediate family only, no grandparents, cousins, friends etc. ... Upon entry you will scan in with a QR code and need to complete a COVID health questionarre. Entry will be free. If you are unwell we ask that you do not attend. Every person over 12 years old MUST be carrying a mask and if you are unable to socially distance you are required to be wearing it. The weather is looking good so bring your own chairs to sit out on the grass to enjoy the BBQ, which will also be free. Please have a chat to your swimmers before the night to explain the importance of socially distancing in the marshalling area. Below you will find a link that needs to be completed by midday Friday. It will allow us to be aware of our attendees and preplan our fun events for the night. If you havent already we ask that each family donate a small gift for our Xmas raffle. I will be at the pool this Thursday night if you would like to drop it to me. Tickets will be available on the night so bring along some coins for that. Any questions please feel free to message me. See you all there. Cheers Kelly https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx
