24.01.2022 A prayer for the current bushfire emergency & drought situation across our nation: Father God, We bring before you the state of our country. We are grateful that you care about human beings and invite us to bring our concerns to you in the name of Jesus, reminding us in your Word of your sovereignty over all the earth.... We pray for all of those affected by the recent fires and the long drought in our country. Please preserve homes, properties, businesses, towns from further destruction through fire and drought we pray. We remember that you see even the smallest sparrow fall to the ground, and so we pray that you will remember Australia’s wildlife suffering in these conditions. We pray for an end to the fires and drought. We pray for substantial rain. Please give us what we need and help us to trust you while we wait. We pray for our heroic fire fighters, support staff and emergency service personnel. Thank you for their dedication and sacrifice. Preserve them and give them the energy and stamina they need at this time. We cry out to you on behalf of all those who are immediately affected by these calamities. Hear from heaven, Lord and in our helplessness, deliver us we pray. We pray for wisdom as we reflect on the many voices who call us to be better stewards of our world, just as you instructed us in the beginning. In the midst of a heated and difficult debate, give our politicians, corporate managers and other decision makers the courage to make decisions that are free from greed and good for society. We pray that our specialists will speak clearly and honestly into the debate. As a society, give us grace to care about each other, even those who disagree with us. In your kindness, show us a way forward that unites us as a country. We pray that you will enable your people to have the courage to trust you with our country and its future, bringing our various fears to you through Christ. Thank you for an unbreakable inheritance in the Lord Jesus, kept for us in heaven. Enable us to live before you in this situation, trusting you, speaking well of your Son and being kind and patient. We pray that we will hope most of all in your promises to us in Jesus, and that by your Spirit we will live this out by trusting you with our climate, our country and our future here on earth. Calm our fears and give us confidence that you can bring good even out of this situation to the glory of your Son. Amen.
