18.01.2022 Effective corporate volunteering using your corporate skills to assist those in need. #Give1Australia #spbprobono #bridgethegap #Give1Australia I worried I couldnt continue volunteering with charity Teach Learn Grow as a SPB graduate. But by providing pro bono legal advice, Im now a greater volunteer asset. #effectivecorporatevolunteering Teach Learn Grow Inc. (TLG) is a student-run charity which aims to bridge the gap in education for disadvantaged and Indigenous stude...nts in rural Western Australia. I began volunteering with TLG in early 2013. When I started as a SPB graduate, I was worried I might lose that ability to give back to the community. But with legal training and a great law firm behind me, Ive become a greater asset to TLG. SPB has generously provided pro bono advice, and Im now on TLGs Board to assist with legal queries. Thats effective corporate volunteering using your corporate skills to assist those in need.

18.01.2022 What are your employee's interests? Consultation with staff is recommended to find out which area, organisation or cause they'd like to support through volunteering and whether this will be on a one-off or on an ongoing basis. Alternatively staff and the business may decide to support a number of areas or a different organisation on each of their volunteering days. http://www.corporatevolunteers.org.au/toolkit/ @volunteeringwa #give1Australia

10.01.2022 Is corporate volunteering a good fit for your business? To be valuable and meaningful to a business as a whole, an employee volunteering program must be in alignment with the mission, values and goals of the business. Positive engagement and support for the program needs to be sought from all levels of business before the decision is made to proceed with implementation. Widespread employee acceptance will be gained if the benefits of implementation of the program are actively... promoted from the top and if there is leadership by example, with executives and management engaging with their teams in volunteering projects Volunteering WA #Give1Australia http://www.corporatevolunteers.org.au/toolkit/

08.01.2022 "Young West Australians are taking up volunteering in droves, driving a jump of more than 80 per cent in the number of tertiary students Volunteering WA refers to positions." #givetime #Give1 https://au.news.yahoo.com//2/young-volunteers-on-the-rise/
06.01.2022 Who will organise the program? As with any new initiative, careful business planning and the establishment of simple, clear internal policies, procedures and recording processes are vital to the success of a corporate volunteering program. Undertaking detailed planning at the outset will ensure that successful outcomes are achieved. Often the most effective approach is to form a small committee to take on this task. One of the responsibilities of the committee would be to detail and seek management approval of suggested policies and procedures. http://www.corporatevolunteers.org.au/toolkit/ @volunteeringwa #give1Australia
05.01.2022 Volunteers from Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) will be volunteering their time and skills in October to Perths inaugural Oxfam Trailwalker and an Engineers Without Borders (EWB) High School Outreach Program. Engineers Without Borders In partnership with Engineers Without Borders (EWB), SKM staff will attend and run an EWB module workshop, focusing on engineering, science and humanitarian aid. The presentations will be made to Belmont City College throughout October. Each visit will include two SKM volunteers, and an EWB volunteer, who will make two presentations.
05.01.2022 How much volunteering will you do? Understanding the capacity of the business to allocate one or more days of volunteering per employee per year and deciding how this will be recorded is important to the success and sustainability of the volunteering program. Decisions will also be required on how the absence of employees while they are volunteering will be managed in the workplace. http://www.corporatevolunteers.org.au/toolkit/ @volunteeringwa #give1Australia
02.01.2022 How will you measure success? A decision should also be made in regard to the type of qualitative and quantitative data and documentation that will be required to enable effective measurement and analysis of the program. Some businesses choose to undertake an internal audit of a volunteering engagement prior to implementation for the purpose of gathering baseline data to use in evaluation. http://www.corporatevolunteers.org.au/toolkit/ @volunteeringwa #give1Australia

01.01.2022 78 volunteers from the Bankwest Retail Risk Department volunteered their time to assist two not-for-profit organizations: Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre & Native ARC. Both organizations are dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of native plants and animals in WA. Their mission relies on volunteers to implement programs and enhance their work. The Bankwest teams efforts, including clearing a large load of weeds, painting rooms, and upgrading an animal enclosur...e, will help support the daily activities and ongoing rehabilitation efforts of each organization. Following this rewarding event, 94% of Retail Risk employees surveyed said they are more likely to volunteer again and 88% feel they have an increased awareness of wider social issues. One of the volunteer coordinators said, These tasks would have taken us weeks to complete and were finished in one day! They were a fantastic group of people who really got stuck into the tasks at hand and we really enjoyed having them help.
