20.01.2022 As of July 2020, the NDIS has added a new support item, Recovery Coaches. Recovery coaches will provide support to people with psychosocial disability to live a full and contributing life. People will be assisted to take more control of their lives and to better manage complex challenges of day to day living.... 12.01.2022 Matthew is 30 years old. He lives with Cerebral Palsy, and intellectual and physical impairments. When COVID-19 hit, Matthew’s mum Amanda stopped his supports. Matthew is at high-risk for complications if catching the virus. It was too risky. COVID-19 disconnected Amanda and Matthew from their community. Amanda researched many online activities. She found none catering to Matthew’s needs. Then she discovered Connecting Couches @ Give a Care. Matthew has attended Drumming with... Jess every Monday since May. He enjoys Connecting Couches immensely. The joy shines through his face, as he laughs trying to hit the drum. These sessions have been a beacon of light for Amanda and Matthew. 11.01.2022 Joanne felt isolated during the 2020 lockdown. She was searching for a lifeline to break the boredom and connect her with the outside world. She discovered Connecting Couches. Joanne started drumming. She loves socialising with the other participants. Joanne has even bought her very own drum! She has also made plans to meet up with some of her new friends. . While Connecting Couches is on pause, the friendships made are going strong!

People living with disabilities are living their everyday life. Saying 'you are inspiring' for completing daily activities such as cooking and grocery shopping may come across as insulting or patronising.
