25.01.2022 I was privileged enough to teach the kids class at Baldivis this morning and the level of focus from the little karateka was outstanding. We ran through some of... their grading syllabus and then moved on to some school yard self defence. The kids engagement level was high and the enthusiasm to learn was brilliant. We demonstrated a technique to dismount an attacker who is sitting on top of you and I think everyone enjoyed themselves and learned a valuable skill along the way. Im already looking forward to when I am invited along to do some more training!! Well done everyone and thank you for the invite Sensei Chantelle. A special thank you to Sensei Peter Skinner and Sensei Leigh Pratt for teaching with me today!! See more

25.01.2022 Outstanding class today at Baldivis. High energy as always and great commitment from everyone. It was awesome to see an all star line up at the back with a number of our Region 28 instructors in attendance. Thank you as always to all who came to train. Well done everyone, smashing through the syllabus and kata, finishing up with a little bunkai to close the class!!!

21.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS!!

19.01.2022 First Sunday class at Baldivis for the new year had a great turn out. I like to ask for volunteers to complete a quick warm up before we start the lesson and this little ninja didnt disappoint. Well done to young Ethan Davies demonstrating black belt pushups as part of his warm up. Awesome effort by everyone at class with the same high energy that we finished off with in 2019. Thanks to the Sempais for the class, Tamara Groznica and Finlay Mann. See you all next week!!

19.01.2022 Martial arts is not just about the physical training, it is also about the values that are taught and the confidence it gives the students in their own abilities. Martial arts are taught in such a way that there is always room for improvement so setting new goals regularly helps to keep the students engaged.

17.01.2022 Hi everybody! Sensei Tabatha and Mark (pictured here trying to look composed while standing next to the legendary Kancho Robert Sullivan) will be running an onl...ine Karate seminar this Saturday from 10:30am. You dont need to be a member of the online dojo to be there, we are making this class free for all students to attend! (Because we miss you all!) The first half an hour will be a chance for us all to catch up, then from 11:00-12:00 we will do some training. Well be using a custom Zoom link for this class (not the usual live class link) so if youd like to attend then please either text Sensei Mark on 0423 519 386 or comment below and well send the link to you

17.01.2022 It was International Womens Day yesterday so in class I taught a couple of self defence techniques geared around hair pulling. Teaching the students was fun and I also managed to talk some of the mums into having a go at breaking my arm as I grabbed them by the hair from behind. Great class with lots of energy!!! Everyone deserves the right to feel safe!!!

16.01.2022 Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you are all still training utilising the online Dojo. I cant wait to get back in to the Dojo and train with you all again soon. It until then if you need any assistance with any aspect of your training please dont hesitate to contact me via this page or personal message. I am always willing to help with feedback and also if you want any videos from me. Please try and put aside your normal class times for home training so that you keep your routine. Have a great day everyone.

15.01.2022 Good morning everyone!! GKR Karate is committed to your training, even during times like these when we cant get to the dojo. The online dojo is now up and running and you have access to excellent training from our most senior instructors. As instructors we would also like to supplement the online dojo training by posting our own videos on our individual dojo pages. This will help you stay motivated and continue to train during your normal class times slots. I have put a shor...t video together of a great Kihon drills that Shihan Anthony Ryan shared a few years and one that I have taught in my own dojo a couple of times. The video is a bit shaky as I am not used to talking to myself in to a phone but if you can manage to get past the shaky voice and the accent you will enjoy the drill. I hope you are all keeping safe during this tough time and still managing to maintain your training routines. Remember if you have questions or wish to get feedback on any of your own training videos, all of the instructors are willing to receive the questions and/or videos to offer feedback. I hope you enjoy the drill. Have a great Easter everyone!! See more

15.01.2022 A short message from Sensei Mark about our upcoming Karate plans! Stay tuned for more information.

14.01.2022 A mixed emotion class this morning at Baldivis. Sensei Peter Skinner attending his last class with me today as assistant instructor to spread his wings and now run his own class in the region. I really enjoy mentoring instructors and helping them become a Sensei in their own right but it is an exciting time and sad time all at once. Congratulations my friend your class will be as phenomenal are you are. It has been awesome teaching alongside you and I wish you every success!...!! It is also a great day when we see GKR students or Senseis returning to training after periods of time away from the sport and today we saw the return of Sensei Kylie Harben who has returned after a couple of years off. I love it when blackbelts and instructors come to train with us at Baldivis and it is especially humbling when you are the Dojo that a returning karateka wants to come and train at!! See you all next week See more

11.01.2022 Sometimes you feel deflated and a little out of sorts!! Teaching this amazing bunch of karateka always lifts my mood, regardless of what else is going on outside of the Dojo!! I happily spend all of my weekends sharing with my students, they always motivate me as I motivate them. There is a high energy in the Dojo every week and I am thankful to have the opportunity to be a part of this outstanding community!!! Martial arts is great for your mental wellness!! Well done to everyone who trained with us today and as always, thank you to my fellow instructors who regularly come and train with us too!! 02.01.2022 Who wants to train tomorrow morning?

02.01.2022 I am so glad that we had an amazing turn out for Fathers Day at Baldivis Dojo. I hope everyone enjoyed the traditional style basics/fundamentals class. It is amazing how hard you still work when you are standing in Heiko Dachi. The great thing about running through the strikes and blocks in our ready stance is that you get to focus on the techniques and your hips without having to concern yourself with moving or transitioning in and out of other stances. A big thank you to everyone who came to train with us and for the dads participating with the self defence section at the end. I had a blast teaching the class. Remember we motivate each other to be better than we were the day before. Enjoy the rest of Fathers Day and Ill see you all next week.

02.01.2022 Poor Sensei Mark has no one to train with, what will he do? Thank goodness for the online dojo! https://onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com
