25.01.2022 A big welcome to Katie and Tyler to the Ellenbrook Cougars! After doing the Free Trial class with us the previous week, it was great to see that you guys wanted to come back and train with us fulltime instead of a 1 time only session!!! Keep up the loud responses and amazing effort you guys have shown over the last 2 week. Soon you will giving loud Kiais (grrrrrrs for now at the dojo though ) that will scare Sensei Natalie!

23.01.2022 Black Belt Training and Grading 13/09/20 ECU Joondalup have asked us to use an alternative entrance for our Black Belt Training and Grading on Sunday, 13/09/20.... The map below shows the alternative entrance (see red) and the car park (see yellow). If you are coming from Joondalup Drive, you need to turn right onto Cornell Parade and then left onto Prilep Drive to access the car park. If you are coming from Lakeside Drive, you need to turn left onto Prilep Drive to access the car park.

21.01.2022 On Thursday night at the dojo, we had 2 students grade to their next level!!!! Congratulations to Vincent who has graded to 9th Kyu (Yellow Tip) and William who now is 7th Kyu Ho (Orange Tip). Keep up the enthusiasm that we see each week!!!! Also a huge congratulations to Brooke who successfully graded to 8th Kyu (Yellow Belt) at the monthly grading. 20.01.2022 Hi Ellenbrook Cougars!!!!!! This is Sensei Natalie. It's been a while since we have seen you guys! Though the dojo may be closed at the moment, the GKR Online dojo is now open to continue with your training!!!! ... Take a look at both Sempai Gavin and I. We are continuing to train despite not being in the actual dojo. Sempai Gavin is doing fitness drills while I attempt to learn a new kata that I have not done before! The online dojo is a great tool to learn the pattern of the kata. Especially if it is a new kata you haven't done before! How are you guys training at this time? Send pictures below or comment. 18.01.2022 It was great to have Leah, Maddison, Levi and Kayden join us for their first karate class on Tuesday night. They learned some basic techniques and their practical application, including front kick and using the kick shield to develop its effectiveness and finished the class with a fun game. Well done to you all for such an amazing effort, you were awesome!!

They have been following along well to what we are teaching. 08.01.2022 Dear Parents/Students As a result of the interim restrictions for Perth, all of our lessons will be resuming as of tomorrow (subject to confirmation from our ve...nues). The interim restrictions include: 20 capacity limit (applying 4 square meter capacity rule); masks to be worn if your are 12 years or older; and no spectators. We will be introducing a class booking system. This will allow us to manage the 20 capacity limit. An SMS will be sent to our students tomorrow with further instructions. We also ask parents to drop off and pick up their children at the entry/exit to comply with the no spectators restriction. Gavin Smith Regional Manager Senior Instructor

07.01.2022 2 weeks ago, the Ellenbrook Cougars had a new addition to the family! Everyone please give a big welcome to Sempai Kent!!!! He will be helping Sensei Natalie on Thursdays going forward and has been a great help in the dojo for the students since he started! Sempai Kent has been around the region for a while and has great knowledge and experiences that we are sure that he will impart to the students to help improve themselves into better karate-ka!!!!... 07.01.2022 Woot Woot!!!! At the Kata Tournament on Sunday we had 4 people from the Ellenbrook dojo who managed to medal in their divisions!!!!! Congratulations to the following people:... Brooke: Silver Medal Kai: Silver Medal Zane: Silver Medal (not pictured but will get one next week!) These guys did an awesome on the day and it was good to see their kata’s in action!!!! Also Sensei Natalie managed to get Gold in the Team Kata division with Sensei Julia and Sensei Anita. Everyone was on fire at the tournament!!! Hope to see more you on the floor next time round!

04.01.2022 Yay!! Orange tips were awarded to Jayden and Megan on Tuesday night and William received an encouragement certificate for amazing technique during kicks. Outstanding efforts from all three students. Train hard and keep that focus! Congratulations!!

04.01.2022 On Sunday we had the State Titles Tournament that happened at Swan Active Beechboro. 3 students from the Ellenbrook dojo competed in it and managed to come out with some bling! Congratulations to Kai, Zane and Brooke who managed to medal at the event! It was amazing to see the focus you guys put into your kata, kumite and team kata. Keep up the amazing work you guys are putting in!!!!

02.01.2022 Life has thrown us a temporary curve ball, but that doesn't mean our health, fitness, self-defence skills or enjoyment of karate has to end. During this peculi...ar period, GKR Karate is bringing the dojo to you. Online classes for all grades and ages, covering all facets of training; and all classes are designed with limited space in mind. There is no reason why your skills and fitness can't continue to improve right now. It just requires a tiny bit of self-discipline on your part to get the ball rolling. And the beauty of self-discipline, is its only difficult for a few minutes, because after this, motivation to keep going kicks in.

02.01.2022 It was a fun filled night at the dojo on Thursday night! We started with shoulders and knees as a warm up, then into groups where the higher grades did some partner work from Senior Training while the lower grades were able to use the kickshields and focus mitts. Then moved to some Kumite practise. We finished the class with a game of tails where all the students had much fun!!! A big thank you to Jesse and Kaiden who came down to do a free trial class. They definitely enjoyed class with all the hitting that I saw on the kickshields and focus mitts. Also successfully grading to 9th Kyu is Katie and Tyler. You have improved immensely in the last few weeks. Keep up the good work!!!
