24.01.2022 Nov 2014 - Evanston Dojo Flashback....

24.01.2022 R9 Latest Timetable - 1st December 2020

23.01.2022 HALLOWEEN HAVOC AT EVANSTON Great roll up tonight of around 35 students tonight for the Halloween Class with nearly half the class in costume or make up. Sensei Fitness Cat led the class assisted by Sempei Rebecca who looked cute but scary at the same time. Pretty much a solid basics class, along with some Kata. Well done to our Junior and Senior award winners for best costumes. Zombie Kata was a highlight so look out for the video clip. Instead of a "Crazy Photo" tonight we ...have a "Crazy Video Clip". Only two more Gradings this year so everyone needs to work hard to ensure they have a Grading opportunity. Numbers are on the increase again and thanks to the GKR Recruitment Team we have several new students over the past few weeks. Hopefully if we can maintain the numbers, Sensei Edde will approve the reinstatement of the Second (Advanced) Class See more

21.01.2022 SAW THE LIGHT ON, THOUGHT WE MIGHT POP IN With a power issue at Freeling Dojo tonight, Sensei Melissa, took the opportunity for her students to join the Evanston students for a combined class. Sensei Catherine took the youngsters while the higher grade and older students went through a solid Basics session. For the second half, the students broke into Kata groups, each with a Sensei so the groups all enjoyed grade specific training. Sensei Melissa said afterwards that while her students were a bit nervous about coming here, all thoroughly enjoyed the class. They all fitted in very well.

21.01.2022 EVANSTON TOURNAMENT WINNERS - CONGRATULATIONS A few photos from the Tournament

20.01.2022 Great class tonight led by Sensei Catherine and Sensei Greg. Basics and Kata were the focus tonight, with great support for the Sempei Team. Only one more grading to go before the end of the year so a concerted effort is required to make sure you are ready.

20.01.2022 Certainly applies to Karate as well in working out Kumite strategy for a Tournament and even order of Kata for competition.

18.01.2022 R9 Latest Timetable - 1st December 2020 (2.30pm) Dear Karate-ka, please check on the latest updates on classes that will be opened and session time. You are wel...come to attend any open classes near you should your regular class is not available yet. Thank you.

15.01.2022 Managed to get out to the Evanston Class tonight for most of the evening now I can do limited driving. Good to catch up with everyone and see that the usual high standards are maintained. Special night for two of our Juniors in Madeline and Jasmine who both graded to 7th kyu-ho (Orange Tip) Congratulations to you both from everyone. Thanks to Kirsty for the photos.

14.01.2022 Dear Evanston Karate-Ka, Starting tomorrow - Tuesday 17 November 2020, all GKR Karate classes will be suspended. As you may of all seen today in South Australia, S.A Health have put indoor sport into a two week closure which includes Karate. Please note that here at GKR, we care about our students and instructors so we fully support this decision. A text will be sent to students tomorrow morning letting them know about our classes temporarily closing and that your training... fees will be suspended during this period. It can take up to 48 hours for payments to stop so those that have money come out tomorrow or Wednesday then they may still have a payment come out. We ask that you keep an eye on your emails for official correspondence and please keep in contact with this Facebook Dojo page for updates. And lastly please check in on your Karate friends and family. We supported each other through this last time, we can do it again this time. Keep practicing at home watch the GKR You Tube videos and hopefully be won't be closed for long. Regards Sensei Catherine and Sensei Peter See more

13.01.2022 Awesome and Fantastic first class back for 2021, our Sensei’s definitely got our heart rates up early and it was great to see everyone push on through. We broke off into Kata groups for the last half, there was noticeable effort and perseverance around the dojo in the different groups toward improving their knowledge of their grade Kata. See you all next week.

12.01.2022 GRADING PREPARATION NIGHT Solid Basics session tonight with several students being considered for the next Grading. Second half of the class, Sensei Peter took the Blues and above for some Combos and Kata Bassai-dai, while Sempei Rebekah and Usher took the lower grades for Basics and Kata.

OUR CLASSES ARE RE-OPENING FROM TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER IN SOUTH AUSTRAL...IA The majority of our venues have granted us immediate access to their halls and classes will commence straight away in these locations. A small number of schools have indicated a delay in re-opening their hall to community hirers, but we will continue corresponding with these venues and let you know as soon as those classes can open. 02.01.2022 Congratulations to Nick and Jackson today grading to their 6th Kyu. You were both awesome.

02.01.2022 Awesome grading style class tonight, Sensei Shaun comprehensively took us through all our strikes, blocks and kicks before moving into simple combos. We quickly learnt what happens when we don’t provide an adequate response. We then worked through Taikyoku Shodan together before breaking off into grading Kata groups. There was a really great atmosphere in the dojo tonight and I’m sure everyone definitely got their sweat on.... Good luck to everyone attempting to grade to their next level on Sunday. You are all awesome
