17.01.2022 Hutt Family Fundraiser Hi Region 18 we need your help! Recently, one of our karate families lost everything they own in a house fire.... To help them get back on their feet we are holding a Region 18 fundraising family fun day at Mt Field National Park on Saturday 29th August and we want heaps of people to attend! Rather than charging people to come along we will be asking everyone to make any donation they can. Big or small it doesn't matter, every dollar helps. You will be able to purchase food, drinks and snacks on the day and we will also have some hampers to be raffled off. All proceeds will go directly to the Hutt famliy. Whilst we encourage everyone to attend, if you can't make it, and still wish to donate, please contact us here at the R18 FB page and we will let you know how you can do that. We want to thank everyone in advance for their support of Sensei Toby, Chloe and Peyton.

Please check your emails and this page regularly for important updates. Message us here if you require any more information. See you all soon.

16.01.2022 Tonight is the night! That's right Region 18, it's daylight savings time! Tonight we need to put our clocks and watches FORWARDS by one hour. This means that o...ur long Tasmanian twilight evenings are just round the corner. If you have a smart phone or watch, they should update the time automatically. However, if you have an old fashioned clock, watch or microwave, you might need to change it yourself. NOTE: For those invited to grade tomorrow in Hobart, please make sure you have the correct time. You don't want to miss your grading!!!

15.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT GKR Karate, Region 18 Tasmania, are delighted to announce that we will be returning to face-to-face classes, in dojos, from Monday 15th... June. Our live Zoom classes will be phased out from the same date. Whilst we are all incredibly excited to be returning, it is absolutely imperative that we continue to follow the Government and GKR guidelines and maintain social distancing and strict hygiene practices within our dojos. This includes ensuring hand hygiene practices are followed, no contact with others in the dojo, a limit on the numbers of people in one room, social distancing of at least 2m between people, wiping of used surfaces and no people watching classes. Possibly the most important is that no person is to attend a dojo if they are unwell. Unwell includes, but is not restricted to, the following symptoms: - coughing - sneezing - sore throat - raised temperature - runny nose - blocked nose Over the next two weeks we will share with all students, and their parents, these expectations in more detail. We can't wait to get back in the dojo with you all.

When: Saturday 14th Nov (yes you've got lots of time to prepare) Where: Lauderdale Primary School Time: 10am check in for a 10:30am start. Entry forms will be released through your Sensei's in the coming weeks. So come and join us make this year's State Titles an event that everyone will remember.

11.01.2022 FUNDRAISING TIME Put your hand up if you love a good raffle and a great guessing game! That's right it's "guess the number of lollies" time Region 18, and th...is year we are also having a raffle. Proceeds from both of these fundraisers will go directly to helping the Hutt family recover from having their home destroyed by fire. Over the next few weeks we will be selling raffle tickets for the chance to win one of three hampers (two of them are pictured below). Tickets will be available at Southern gradings or ask your class Sensei to arrange your purchase through Sensei Elissa (South Hobart Dojo). In the Northern area the purchase of tickets can be arranged through Sensei Meg (Riverside Dojo) Tickets - $1 each or 3 for $2 Guess the Lollies will also make an appearance at dojos and gradings in the Southern area. Just guess the number of lollies in the jar, or closest to it, to win the whole lot and have an enormous sugar rush! Guesses - $1 each We thank you for supporting this great cause.

07.01.2022 CLASS BOOKING SYSTEM Next week we will be returning to some of our dojo's. To ensure that we do not exceed the government restrictions of 20 people per class ...we will be implementing the following process. For those who normally train at Brighton, Geilston Bay or Howrah, you will receive a text message on the day of training which you will need to respond to, to book into class. These 3 classes nomally exceed 20 people per training, which is why a booking system is required. Bookings will be co-ordinated by Sensei Jacob and Sensei Sue-Anne. If you were intending on joining Brighton, Geilston Bay or Howrah but do not normally attend there, please message this page so we can put you on the list for text messaging. For all other open dojo's you turn up as usual. For those dojo's that remain closed, GKR will be making the Zoom classes free. It is hoped that most classes will be able to resume either face to face, or via Zoom over the course of the next few weeks. We will make more information about the Zoom classes available soon. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
