24.01.2022 Hi everyone. Heres the newest timetable of classes in the area. Feel free to go to any of the classes around especially using your unlimited training pass.

24.01.2022 We had a few students attempt their next grades yesterday at Smithfield. We are proud to say that they all passed with flying colours and are now a step further in their karate journey. Congratulations to all

24.01.2022 Life has thrown us a temporary curve ball, but that doesn't mean our health, fitness, self-defence skills or enjoyment of karate has to end. During this peculi...ar period, GKR Karate is bringing the dojo to you. Online classes for all grades and ages, covering all facets of training; and all classes are designed with limited space in mind. There is no reason why your skills and fitness can't continue to improve right now. It just requires a tiny bit of self-discipline on your part to get the ball rolling. And the beauty of self-discipline, is its only difficult for a few minutes, because after this, motivation to keep going kicks in.

23.01.2022 7/7-8/7 This weeks classes were focused on fixing our kicks. This invludes the shaping of the feet aswell as keeping our guards up while kicking. Congratulations to both Nicole & Harper for achieving their orange tips. We ran through the grading criteria and both girls passed with flying colours. ... A quick reminder we are still running classes during school holidays. Keep training hard and stay healthy

23.01.2022 8/7/19+9/7/19 Mondays and Tuesdays night classes were based on working on our basics as well as some fitness. Some of our students are preparing themselves to attenpt their next grades on August 11th and these are 2 key elements that will hwlp them strive at the tournament and further evolve and develop their karate-ka. We also worked on some 3 step sparring to help understand the transition from basics to kumite.

22.01.2022 Monday 28/1 Due to no light in the dojo, class was held outside. Today we practiced our katas and picking little things to work on to make our katas stronger and more powerful. Great to have multiple higher grades to help the lower grades out. Also great to see a number of students still attend even on a public holiday. Hope to see even more next week

21.01.2022 Hi all and Happy new year. With the current Covid19 outbreak, be assured that we are still maintaining our covid safety policy with regard to training distancing and class number restrictions. Our classes will start back on the 4th of January for the most part and numbers will be restricted to 30 per class. We have changed the timetable slightly as attached. These changes should help to restrict the number of students training in each class as well as allowing instructors ...to focus a little more on students at their grade level. Although masks are not required for our industry, I would like all parents and students to wear a mask when entering the school grounds. Once students have lined up, their masks can be removed whilst training. During any breaks and at the end of class, students will be required to wear masks again. Regards Sensei Robert See more

21.01.2022 To all GKR students, please find a short video from our founder and Chief Instructor, Kancho Robert Sullivan.

19.01.2022 Good turnout for the 1st classes of 2019. Good training session working on basics and kata. Hope to see more people next week

19.01.2022 Hi all, We are back at the halls training as from today. Please check out the timetable below. Student numbers are limited so please contact your instructor to book a class. Maybe check your own facebook dojo page for their details. Some classes aren't available yet and in some areas, we may have to change venues, but we will get through these changes and ensure you get to train as often as you'd like. You may also get an email shortly confirming this and the reactivation of ...your Direct debit. Please bring joggers to train in, your own water bottle and Hand santitiser. It will be great to see everyone back at training and i will catch up with you at one of my Dojo visits. Until then, Happy training!!!! See more

17.01.2022 Hi all, Great news! Karate is starting back up again from tonight. Guidelines:... - Up to 10 students are allowed per class, So if there is already 10 students training, we ask you wait till the 7:00 class. (Hoping this number is increased to 20 July 1st) -Unfortunately, this number also means parents will not be able to sit down in the dojo to allow for capacity. We ask parents while the classes are running, that they wait in their cars. - if possible, please bring your own sanitizers or wipes for yourself. - while it is good to be starting again and would love to see you all, if you are not 100% and have been coughing etc. We recommend waiting until you are 100% to restart training. Look forward to seeing you all tonight

16.01.2022 Greystanes 9/12 The 2nd last class of the year. We had many students achieve new grades the day before. Once again congratulations to everyone who achieved this. This class was a more laid back one so new grades could learn their new katas and yellow belts got to learn the new advanced strikes, blocks and kicks in their syllabus. ... A reminder to all students that next week is our Christmas Party. We would like to ask students to bring 1 item of food or drink PER FAMILY so that we can all get together and reflect on what a year it has been.

15.01.2022 Greystanes 21/10 Tonights class was split up into 2 groups. White belts got to work on what to do at class and other worked on basics. Yellow belts and above worked in partners and worked on lifting there leg and kicking explosively.

14.01.2022 24/6/19 Was awesome to see so many faces attend class last night. We learnt how to develop our basics further aswell as work on our 1st kata. It us vital we as karate-ka never forget our basic techniques as we use them to evolve and develop throughout our karate journey.... See you all next week

14.01.2022 2/9/19 Today the students got to decide on which aspect of karate we worked on today. The students chose to work on their stances and kicks. We also added some challenges to our stances and kicks to build up leg strength and stamina. We also had a few 9th kyu gradings tonight. Congratulations to the students who reived their first grading and acheived their first step in their individual karate journeys.

14.01.2022 GKR KARATE is coming back in NSW very soon! Were just in the process of confirming re-opening dates with our venues and will have some exciting news for you within the next few days. Our class sizes will be restricted to 10 for the first few weeks and we are putting some measures in place to accommodate this where possible. Stay tuned to this page and check your inbox for any email updates. Not long to go now see you soon!

14.01.2022 Hi all I hope you are well and keeping safe from this virus. Im missing my karate family atm. Not training together does put a dampener on my training days but at least we can train together online. Most families are opting to join our online dojo course to keep up training. You dont need much space and from some of the photo Ive received, some are working in a space no bigger than a bathroom. Its cheaper than an individual weekly class fee and is available for the whole... family. Come join me and let me know what you think. If you need help, give me a call or message me. Stay healthy and excel use. Regards Sensei Robert Zammit https://onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com/store78476au

14.01.2022 Even thou the weather may have been poor, the mighty Greystanes Guardians still turned out in numbers and trained hard in preparation for the upcoming tournament.

14.01.2022 Hi everyone Once your set up on our Online Dojo, please visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/3055153164520855/?ref=share and Ill give you access so you can ask question on your karate and get feedback.

13.01.2022 Hi all Im after a few motivated and reliable students who will be paid to help promote our classes. This will be during the school holidays at either Stocklands Wetherill park, Westfield parramatta or Westfield Liverpool, but may continue after the holidays if you would like some partime or full time work. All thats involved is talking to people and answering any questions or doubts they may have. Give me a call on 0424 214 722 or PM me.

12.01.2022 Hi all As you are aware, there is expected to be quite catastrophic fire dangers and heat tonight (12/11). Karate will still be on, but please advise students to bring water bottles to ensure hydration in such high heats. We are also happy for students to wear casual clothes to ensure over heating doesnt occur. We advise that students who are asthmatic bring their inhalers or depending on severity, perhaps miss this weeks attendance. Although first aid training has been undertaken by the instructors and Ferris, we do advise students not be put in a situation where they are at risk, considering the circumstance. We wish you all the best in these tough conditions, and we look forward to seeing you at class tonight Sensei Kate and Mary-Rose

12.01.2022 Greystanes 27/5 + 28/5 Another great turnout for both Monday & Tuesday nights classes. With the introduction of colder weather, we knew we had to warm up, so what better way to get warm then doing some excercises working on both fitness and explosive footwork. It is important for the students to know that every excercise has a purpose. Today they learnt the stop start explosive work as well as fitness helps with both their katas and kumite.... The senseis would also like to advise that everyome starts to wear jackets/jumpers coming to and leaving the dojo. This is to prevent illness occuring. See you next week

12.01.2022 Greystanes 9/9/19 Another big turnout to class was awesome to see. Glad to see a mix of both familiar faces and new faces. Anyone is always welcome. Today we spilt the class up into multiple groups. The white belts worked on the foundations of their karate. Some coloured belts worked on learning new moves in the new katas and some coloured belts also worked on the badics of kumite.... Its important to first learn the basic ground works of anything you do and then evolve and develop your skills from there. Thats the best way to learn and become better in anything you do

12.01.2022 1/7/19 Another awesome turnout for both classes. Today we worked on all our katas from 1st kata to our grade katas. It is important to have the same attitude towards every one of your katas and not stop caring once you obtain a new grade. Never forget your 'basic' katas as they are the seeds that help you grow in karate journey.... We also had a total of 9 students achieve new grades tonights due to their hard work and positive attitudes. Congratulations to all of you and keep working hard as you continue your karate journey. Make sure to keep warm this winter and see you all next week

11.01.2022 One of the many champions we had at the tournament just gone passed, congratulations to everyone that turned up and competed. To everyone that placed, keep up the hard work.

11.01.2022 Hi Students, Just running a little late tonight, however we will still be there. See you soon, Sensei Mary

10.01.2022 Awesome kumite class, big smiles for all the boys and girls who graded this weekend :)

10.01.2022 Hi everyone, Yes we will be training together soon!

10.01.2022 * Special annoucement* 11/08/19 This past Sunday, we had a number of students go and attempt their gradings. I, as well as the other senseis, am proud to announce that everyome passed with flying colours. Congratulations to all our new grades and cant wait to further guide you throughout your karate journey.

10.01.2022 Greystanes 29/7-30/7 This weeks classes were focused on further prepping ourselves for a grading. One large aspect we worked on was our discipline throughout our training. It is important for us to recognise when there is a time for fun and laughter, aswell as time for being focused and disciplined. ... The earlier you attain this trait in your karate journey, the easier it becomes to evolve and develop in your karate journey.

09.01.2022 Hi all I’m after a few motivated and reliable students who will be paid to help promote our classes. 08.01.2022 12/08/19 We had a lot of new grades attend class tonight, so we decided to reward our new belts with some new challanges.

08.01.2022 24/8-25/8 Another great week at class this week. This weeks focus was working on both stances and our katas. For those that know their stances and katas, the next stage was to start refining them and ensuring we know how to transition through stances while maintaining strength. ... Good to see so many of you enthusiatic and coming to class. Hope you continue to come. Once again if you could please book prior to Mondays and Tuesdays using the link below. It is to help us get ideas of how large the class is and what we can work on with the space we have. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/gkrregion21 Look forward to seeing you again next week, Sensei David, Sensei Mary & Sensei Aaron

07.01.2022 Dear students and parents, We would like to reassure all of our students and their families that we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and will continue to observe the recommended precautions put forward by government health authorities. Whilst these directives are constantly evolving, we can confirm that our regular GKR Karate classes and monthly gradings will continue as normal unless otherwise advised. That said, the wellbeing of the student body i...s our highest priority and we will be implementing a number of temporary strategies in our dojos for the next 4 weeks to create the safest possible environment for training. These include: Instructors will spread students out and line them up in such a way as to utilise all the space in the dojo. This will ensure a greater physical distance between each student. We will NOT conduct any close-quarter partner exercises during this time, including kumite ie: we will focus more on kata, kihon, combination drills and footwork training. There will be a temporary halt on the use of kick shields or focus mitts, and instructors will be asking students not to Kiai in class during this 4 week period. We will re-assess the need for these measures at the end of the 4 week period and will be guided by government directives. In addition, there are several basic practises related to personal hygiene that all students can be observing in the meantime: Do not share drink bottles or towels with other students Refrain from shaking hands with others at class. Bowing is safe, and is excellent etiquette If you must cough or sneeze, please do so into your Mawashi Empi (your bent arm) Wash your hands well both before and after class If youre feeling unwell then stay home and rest. Well see you again soon. If youve been exposed to the virus, please follow the quarantine conditions set out by health authorities. We are hopeful that the observance of these practises will allow students to maintain their regular training patterns with greater confidence over the coming weeks. If there are changes to any of our scheduled classes or events in your area, then these announcements will be made on your regions Facebook page and at class via your branch instructor. To avoid misinformation about the virus, we suggest visiting the following trustworthy source https://www.health.gov.au/

07.01.2022 Hey students and parents, We hope youre well. With the heavy smoke lurking around today, we advise you please drink plenty of water and if youre asthmatic, please bring your inhaler. Parents, if you know youre kids are susceptible to this poor weather, please advise us today so we can keep a close look out should you not be able to stay and watch the class. We encourage students today not to worry about coming in full gi, just to ensure they dont overheat as weve had... quite large numbers attending the class, and that combined with the small hall may result in a rather hot day environment. Hope to see you all ready to train Regards, Sensei Kate and Mary-Rose

04.01.2022 Hi all, Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. A friendly reminder that classes resume today 6-7 and 7-8. We hope to see you there to work on your goals for this year.

02.01.2022 20/5/19 Solid turnout for last night's class. We worked on our kumite and tested our endurance going for longer periods of time.

01.01.2022 Greystanes 15/7/19 An awesome turnout considering it is school holidays. Good to see everyone commited to acheiving their goals and evolving their karate journey. This week we worked on both fitness and our bread and butter kumite techniques. We learnt that an individual that has perfected 1/2 techniques is more dangerous in kumite that knows 1000 techniques good.... "Dont fear the individual who practices 1000 things once, fear the individual who practices 1 thing, 1000 times"
