24.01.2022 Great 3rd last class for me to run. 1st class did some combos, kick, and kickshields work before splitting up and focusing kata for the upcoming tournament. 2nd class worked on combos, partner work, kicks then finished with kata. Huge welcome to Sensei CJ to the Hewett Karate family. I now only have two more weeks left of Karate, so make the effort in future weeks to come out and train with me.

23.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS EVANSTON & HEWETT STUDENTS Congratulations to all the Evanston and Hewett Students who graded today. You all did a great job and well deserved your new belts. Congratulations from your Sensei/Sempei Group to Annegha Lobendhan, Dean Dickinson, Jasmine Barrett (red belts), Eric Boucher, Luke Wilson, Archer Wilson (blue belts), Elliot Wilson, Katherine Ismali (green belt). Jasmine Barlow (orange belt), David Bamford and Bailey Martin (yellow belts) You have all represented yourselves and your dojo’s well.

22.01.2022 Great turn out on a warm Adelaide night. First class covered some basic strikes, blocks and kicks before doing some combos and bag work. Finished off with the class splitting up, Sensei Catherine Wilkinson took yellows and below for 1st kata work, where I took coloured belts for 1st, 2nd Kata and Safia. Welcome to Joshua, Liam, Veronica and Amalie. ... In 2nd class, Sensei Catherine took the senior class students for one on one kata practice. I focus on combos, advanced blocks, partner work and take downs. Great effort by all that turned up. Hope to see you all on Friday at Evanston class.

21.01.2022 ‘Attention’ Reminder that there is no karate at Hewett this Tuesday 13th Oct due to the blood bank. There is however classes on Thursday at Andrews Farm and Friday classes at Evanston, Freeling and Angle Vale.

21.01.2022 Much love from Team Hewett Karate-ka. After sadly finishing teaching my final class, I received these amazing and unexpected departing gifts. Thank you. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching, guiding and watching your all progress. Huge thank you to Sensei Melissa and Sempai Noah for your help, assistance and teaching these wonderful students. Finally thank you to all students who turn up regularly and make teaching a pleasure. As long as my knees don’t get worse, I’l...l be back. Take care. Thanks again, Sensei Greg. See more

21.01.2022 Good work last night by both classes. First class covered basic and advanced strikes and blocks and combos before breaking off into kata groups. Second class got their sweat on with some high intensity drills before finishing with some Kumite. Really impressed with the effort by both classes. Remember only two more gradings before the end of the year, so addition (out of class) training may be needed.

19.01.2022 Did everyone get the message about how important zenkutsu dachi or long fighting stance is? Your dedication to improving these fundamentals will show in your karate. This week we were reminded about persistence. Even if the combos are tricky, just do what you can, and you'll amaze yourselves! Next week is Sensei Greg's last week before his enforced rest from karate. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

15.01.2022 Great 2nd last class for the year. First class covered on some basics, then combos before breaking into groups to create their own modified 1st kata. 2nd class focused on combos and refining kata. Good luck for those who are grading this weekend. See you next week for the final Hewett class for the year.

14.01.2022 Go Team Hewett. Good work tonight team, 1st class covered basics and advancing strikes with blocks, then finished with Kata and partner work. 2nd class covered advanced blocks, tricky combos and Kata. Next week we will focus on the up coming tournament. Have a great week.

12.01.2022 Great class tonight. Huge effort by all. In first class we covered basics, fitness/bag work and Kata. Big Hewett welcome to Carter, Korben and Aubrey. Second class focused on a large volume of basics for the burn!, we also spent considerable time on kicks into bags and also kata. Remember there are only two gradings left for the year so everyone needs to lift their effort levels to be approved for gradings. Have a great week. Go Team Hewett!

12.01.2022 Dear South Australian Students, After a brief closure, we’re excited to announce that. OUR CLASSES ARE RE-OPENING FROM TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER IN SOUTH AUSTRAL...IA The majority of our venues have granted us immediate access to their halls and classes will commence straight away in these locations. A small number of schools have indicated a delay in re-opening their hall to community hirers, but we will continue corresponding with these venues and let you know as soon as those classes can open. An up-to-date class timetable for your region can be viewed by clicking the below button: https://gkrkarate.com/region-9-timetable/ For those students on a Direct Debit system, please note that your payments were suspended just after the lockdown was announced and their re-activation will be timed so that you will not be charged for any of the class-closure period. As such, your payments will not re-commence until your local/usual GKR Karate dojo has re-opened. If you’re happy to travel a little further to train until your local dojo re-opens, then please email us at the address below and we will arrange to re-activate your training pass. We look forward to seeing you back at class soon! Kind regards, Edde Nio Regional Manager - Senior Instructor P: 0403 507 049 E: [email protected] GKR KARATE

07.01.2022 Really pleased with the effort put in by all students last night. We only have a few weeks left until the end of the year, so push hard over the next few weeks. If you believe your ready for grading, make sure you have a discussion with me next week. 10 minutes a day of extra training, makes a huge difference.

07.01.2022 What a night! Sensei Greg ran a high energy class, lots of tired legs! Well done everyone! PLEASE NOTE: BLOOD BANK AT HEWETT NEXT WEEK. We cannot train here. BUT, Craigmore loved having us visit last time we were locked out, so let's do it again!!... 5.30, first class, followed by advanced class! We wish Sensei Greg good health, and look forward to his return one day. Sensei Roger (or CJ), is our head sensei now, and we look forward to his awesome and fantastic classes! 06.01.2022 It has been an absolute pleasure teaching, guiding, pushing and challenging all Hewett Karate-ka. I am so proud of the Hewett/Evanston karate family that we have all created. We grow together, learn together, sweat together and support each other when needed. I look forward to bigger and better things for next year. Enjoy your holidays, enjoy your family time and we will crack off in the new year on the 5th Jan 21. Thank you for your support. Sensei Greg.

04.01.2022 After many of years of hard work (8-9 years), last night I graded from Black belt (Shodan-Ho) to 1st Dan Black Belt (Shodan) in Karate. I would like to show gr...atitude towards Renshi Daniel Tregenza, Sensei Shane Bennett, Ed Nio and all the other Sensei’s and instructors that have supported me, guided me, pushed me and made GKR a real family environment. Most importantly I’d like to thank my wife Jacqueline Brown for her support, love and for enabling me to ‘do the work’ I needed to do to achieve Shodan. Thank you. See more

04.01.2022 Dear Hewett Karate-Ka, Starting tomorrow - Tuesday 17 November 2020, all GKR Karate classes will be suspended. As you may of all seen today in South Australia, S.A Health have put indoor sport into a two week closure which includes Karate. Please note that here at GKR, we care about our students and instructors so we fully support this decision. A text will be sent to students tomorrow morning letting them know about our classes temporarily closing and that your training f...ees will be suspended during this period. It can take up to 48 hours for payments to stop so those that have money come out tomorrow or Wednesday then they may still have a payment come out. We ask that you keep an eye on your emails for official correspondence and please keep in contact with this Facebook Dojo page for updates. And lastly please check in on your Karate friends and family. We supported each other through this last time, we can do it again this time. Keep practicing at home watch the GKR You Tube videos and hopefully be won't be closed for long. Regards Sensei Greg Brown

04.01.2022 Hewett Karate-ka, we have been advised that there will be no Karate this week. So at this stage our first class back will be on 01 Dec.

03.01.2022 Welcome to 2021 Hewett Karate-ka. Good effort during both classes. We covered basics, combos, bag work and plenty of kata. 10 minutes extra a day makes a big difference. Have an awesome week and thanks to Sensei CJ for coming and helping out.

01.01.2022 Calling all Hewett Karate-ka, we are good to go for training tonight 5-6 and 6-7pm. Due to restrictions, we are capped to 40 people in the hall (we also have access to the smaller carpeted room), so if parents can drop the kids off and return on pick up, that would be appreciated. Please ensure hands are sanitised upon entry, and that Covid paperwork is completed. If you have any flu symptoms, please stay at home. Hope to see you all tonight.
