25.01.2022 Bring your Christmas Hats! Last class for the year @ GKR Karate Howrah Dojo!

21.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE As of yesterday the Tasmanian State Government proceeded to Stage 3 easing of restrictions for COVID-19. For us in GKR Karate it means that w...e no longer have to take bookings for Howrah, Geilston Bay and Brighton classes, as the number of people allowed inside venues has now increased. However, we are still really mindful of the progress Tasmanians have made to get to zero cases, and we ask that students and parents; - do not attend dojos if they are unwell - maintain social distancing, where appropriate - use hand sanitiser before and after class - and, just until we have a little more clarification, no partner work or shared use of kick shields/mitts/pads. We are really excited that karate is very nearly back to normal. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.

21.01.2022 Here are some of our awesome karateka that competed in the tournament. Tournaments are a fantastic environment to be exposed to emotions like stress, anxiety and fear. Why is this good? Because people grow through adversity, choosing to confront these situations where we have incredible support from our peers puts us in a prime position to benefit from the experience. Well done everyone that competed!

20.01.2022 Don't forget to book your place in tonight's class, otherwise you may miss out due to our 20 person limit!

18.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT GKR Karate, Region 18 Tasmania, are delighted to announce that we will be returning to face-to-face classes, in dojos, from Monday 15th... June. Our live Zoom classes will be phased out from the same date. Whilst we are all incredibly excited to be returning, it is absolutely imperative that we continue to follow the Government and GKR guidelines and maintain social distancing and strict hygiene practices within our dojos. This includes ensuring hand hygiene practices are followed, no contact with others in the dojo, a limit on the numbers of people in one room, social distancing of at least 2m between people, wiping of used surfaces and no people watching classes. Possibly the most important is that no person is to attend a dojo if they are unwell. Unwell includes, but is not restricted to, the following symptoms: - coughing - sneezing - sore throat - raised temperature - runny nose - blocked nose Over the next two weeks we will share with all students, and their parents, these expectations in more detail. We can't wait to get back in the dojo with you all.

17.01.2022 Last week I was so impressed by some of our students perseverance in class I had to commend them. It is a truly humbling experience to train with these Karate ka! Amazing work guys!

16.01.2022 Hey guys and gals, this will be a great session!

15.01.2022 CLASS BOOKING SYSTEM Next week we will be returning to some of our dojo's. To ensure that we do not exceed the government restrictions of 20 people per class ...we will be implementing the following process. For those who normally train at Brighton, Geilston Bay or Howrah, you will receive a text message on the day of training which you will need to respond to, to book into class. These 3 classes nomally exceed 20 people per training, which is why a booking system is required. Bookings will be co-ordinated by Sensei Jacob and Sensei Sue-Anne. If you were intending on joining Brighton, Geilston Bay or Howrah but do not normally attend there, please message this page so we can put you on the list for text messaging. For all other open dojo's you turn up as usual. For those dojo's that remain closed, GKR will be making the Zoom classes free. It is hoped that most classes will be able to resume either face to face, or via Zoom over the course of the next few weeks. We will make more information about the Zoom classes available soon. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

07.01.2022 Hutt Family Fundraiser Hi Region 18 we need your help! Recently, one of our karate families lost everything they own in a house fire.... To help them get back on their feet we are holding a Region 18 fundraising family fun day at Mt Field National Park on Saturday 29th August and we want heaps of people to attend! Rather than charging people to come along we will be asking everyone to make any donation they can. Big or small it doesn't matter, every dollar helps. You will be able to purchase food, drinks and snacks on the day and we will also have some hampers to be raffled off. All proceeds will go directly to the Hutt famliy. Whilst we encourage everyone to attend, if you can't make it, and still wish to donate, please contact us here at the R18 FB page and we will let you know how you can do that. We want to thank everyone in advance for their support of Sensei Toby, Chloe and Peyton.
