24.01.2022 Fabulous Black Belt camp this weekend...

22.01.2022 Okinawan Karate Goju-ryu School

20.01.2022 Update. It's unfortunate to inform you that due to the venue making a decision to not let us back in the Jamboree Heights class is put on hold even further. We have been endeavoring to sway the decision but with no success. The class will be moved to an alternate venue as soon as we can secure one, but at this stage it is proving quite difficult. We will keep you updated. Apologies for the inconvenience but this is out of our control.

20.01.2022 Tonight we will be in the Multipurpose Centre at the rear of the school (not the usual Hall near Admin).

20.01.2022 To all GKR students, please find a short video from our founder and Chief Instructor, Kancho Robert Sullivan.

19.01.2022 Good afternoon R10 Students and Parents, A recent press release went out this morning regarding some new restrictions within the Brisbane area. These restrictio...ns refer to Gatherings in private homes and public spaces, however these limits do not apply to businesses operating under a COVID Safe Plan. GKR operates under a Covid safe plan and is able to continue to operate as normal. To continue to assist us to operate within our Covid Plan a reminder of the following:- 1. Keep social distancing of 1.5m 2. If you suspect you have any symptoms stay home and get tested. 3. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer frequently. 4. Observe all dojo rules regarding safe training practices. We appreciate your continued support that allows us to keep training and stay safe. Regards Sensei Kelvin

18.01.2022 Announcement New Club Badge Coming Soon! We are excited to announce that GKR Karate will be unveiling a brand new club badge in just over a weeks’ time at the... 2019 World Cup in the UK. This will be the first time in the club’s 35 year history that the badge has been updated and it’s fitting that Kancho Robert Sullivan will be present at the World Cup for its official release. Whilst we will always consider our foundational karate badge to be a very special part of the club’s history, we are confident that you will be pleased with the new design. Look out for its official online reveal at around 9am (UK time) on Saturday morning 29th June.

18.01.2022 Don't miss your chance to join the Okinawan Karate Masters at GKR Karate’s Okinawa Online Experience 2020! As you may know, GKR Karate organises trips to Okinaw...a every two years. Being the birthplace of karate, multiple seminars with various masters of various traditional karate styles are organised. The aim of this, beyond the cultural experience, is to expose our students to countless principles, techniques and applications. This year we had over 100 excited students, ready to join five Karate Masters at Naha's Budokan in August. With the unforeseen and unprecedented lockdowns caused by COVID-19, the 2020 trip has been postponed until further notice. As disappointing as this is, it also presents a unique opportunity! With the arrival of Zoom and live online classes, for the first time in history, students will be able to gain the rich experience of Okinawa Karate without the need to invest considerable time and money required for international travel. We have organised a number of ONLINE seminars on Sunday 21 June, with 100% of money from sales going directly to the Okinawan Masters. Okinawa is a beautiful island which relies heavily on tourism for income. This is GKR's way of helping to minimise the financial burden that has been caused by the lockdowns, and also provides all of our students with the opportunity to learn from the Master's wealth of experience and knowledge. Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to train with the Masters! Secure your spot by registering at https://onlinedojo.gkrkarate.com/gkr-okinawa-experience-2020

05.01.2022 Being a martial artist helps to develop an open mind to adapt to different circumstances and empowerment to focus on the things within your control. We’ve certa...inly done that over the past 10 weeks during the Covid 19 lockdown, thanks to technology we’ve managed to stay connected and keep up our training together - even when we’ve been apart. We’re looking forward to getting back in the dojo and we can’t wait to see you all in person very soon. See more

05.01.2022 Dear students and parents, We would like to reassure all of our students and their families that we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation ...and will continue to observe the recommended precautions put forward by government health authorities. Whilst these directives are constantly evolving, we can confirm that our regular GKR Karate classes and monthly gradings will continue as normal unless otherwise advised. That said, the wellbeing of the student body is our highest priority and we will be implementing a number of temporary strategies in our dojos for the next 4 weeks to create the safest possible environment for training. Please click through for more information on these strategies.
