23.01.2022 It was another awesome weekend of karate this weekend. On Saturday the first class focussed on grading format in preparation for the grading on Sunday. The whole class focussed and worked hard. It was clear that those who had been given feedback to work on in previous weeks had practised well and showed strong development. The second class focussed on kicks by practising in kihon first and then moving on to using kickshields to focus on side kicks.... Sunday saw the last grading for the year and there was a strong group of magpies who graded through to their next levels: Alzubier Hamed to 8th kyu yellow belt Jett Saunders to 8th kyu yellow belt Annabel Dransfield to 8th kyu yellow belt Danny Smith to 7th kyu orange belt Kenzo Tan to 7th kyu orange belt Steve Lay to 7th kyu orange belt Areesha Afrasiab to 6th kyu green belt Dean Solomon to 6th kyu green belt Eoin Smith to 5th kyu blue belt Zane Garbutt to 4th kyu red belt Congratulations to all student who graded! Don't forget that next Saturday is the last class for the year. Wear something festive if you would like to that you can still train in. We will have loads of fun! Until then train hard and guards up! Sensei Gary and Sensei Marie

21.01.2022 Hi Magpies! We had a couple of awesome classes on Saturday. The first class started with a game of Mush to help us warm up with our basic techniques. We then moved on to some kihon focussing on sanchin dachi and kokutsu dachi. After kihon we then broke off into kata groups to workshop our grade katas.... The second class started with a basic warm-up and kihon techniques. We then moved onto some simple bunkai focussing on getting out of choke holds. After bunkai we then cooled down with kata practice. We recognised Mariano for his creative thinking during bunkai as he was coming up with some very mature ideas for follow up on bunkai. We also recognised Alisha on grading through to her 9th kyu yellow tip. Alisha always puts in 100% effort and focus in each class and we are sure it won't be long until she progresses to her next level Until next week train hard and guards up! 06.01.2022 It was another great weekend for karate at the nest. We congratulated all students, Sempai’s and Sensei’s who completed in the recent State Titles. You are all champions in our eyes and we look forward to more students competing in the next tournament. The first class was straight from our syllabus and focused on Senior Grade combinations. All students picked these up quickly and showed us that with focus and determination anything is possible. We finished the class with so...me Kata and a game of scarecrow. The second class started with some combinations, followed by kokutsu dachi/shuto uke and kake uke workshopping and related bunkai.
