Our second class covered saifa and bassai dia. For higher grades we went through the first sequence of seuinchin.... Have a relaxing Christmas and new year recharge the batteries. Class begins agin on the 9th of January. Thankyou to Jaime, Jade and Chloe who have helped out regularly in class this year. A reminder that next year Chloe and Jade will be running a class on Saturday at 9-930am . This will will be for white and yellow belts and focused on basics. 2nd class 945-1030 3rd class 1040- 1130 (advanced class favouring blue belts and about). Finally I encourage all red belts and above to attend Sensei Robert’s class at George’s hall on Thursday nights.

24.01.2022 Chloe and Jade led our first class this morning. They went through basics and first kata. Chloe then got the second class started leading kata from 1st kata to sanseru. We worked on a couple of kata techniques- Saifa- lifting the leg and turning Seuinchin- the strike and block at 45 degrees... We then went through some grading sequences. Third class started with sparring and ended with grading kata. For something different we spent the last 10 mins of class learning the first 2 sequences of empi. The clip below shows varying grades doing bassai dai, saifa and 2nd kata.

24.01.2022 Congratulations to Indy on grading today

24.01.2022 Congratulations to all who graded today

23.01.2022 Hi all and Happy new year. With the current Covid19 outbreak, be assured that we are still maintaining our covid safety policy with regard to training distancing and class number restrictions. Our classes will start back on the 4th of January for the most part and numbers will be restricted to 30 per class. We have changed the timetable slightly as attached. These changes should help to restrict the number of students training in each class as well as allowing instructors ...to focus a little more on students at their grade level. Although masks are not required for our industry, I would like all parents and students to wear a mask when entering the school grounds. Once students have lined up, their masks can be removed whilst training. During any breaks and at the end of class, students will be required to wear masks again. Regards Sensei Robert See more

22.01.2022 Moving with cat stance

22.01.2022 Covered a lot this morning. In the first class Jaime led kata. We did first kata up to empi. We then went through the blue belt grading. It was a good chance to see students techniques. We finished with stances.... Second class we started with grading katas and broke up into kata groups. We then went through some self defence techniques. To finish of in the last few minutes we tried a kick combination to test our techniques and brains.

21.01.2022 I will be away this week end. The first class will be run by Chloe and Jade. Sensei Huong and Sensei Adam will be running the second and third class. It will be a good opportunity to train and get feedback from other instructors. For all grades blue belt and above remember Sensei Robert runs an advanced class on Thursday nights (Georges hall) starting at 745pm. For those on holidays I encourage you to go to this class.

19.01.2022 Working on yoko Geri

18.01.2022 Congratulations to those who graded today to 8th kyu.

17.01.2022 Had a full class this morning. It was great to see so many people. Is was great to see everyone keeping social distancing while training. Jaimes split up the kata into grading kat this morning. Those not doing kata dis stance work along the side on the hall. With the help of Jaime, Jade and Lauren our the front for people to follow- We worked on sanchin stance using chuga uke and mawashi uke. We then went through some kick and punch sequences.... The class finished with Sensei says and we had Brodie as our first round winner, second round saw a tie between Jade, Brodie and Daniela. Second class started with kata. This morning we broke into our kata groups and our Brown belts led different kata groups. We broke down parts of the kata and work on specific techniques. We finished with a breathing techniques while punching and kicking.

17.01.2022 Sensei Grant is running a tournament night. The main idea is to connect those interested in tournaments in our region. Get some reffing experience, kata and kumite ring time and possible meet people to form a team. Let me know if this is of interest to you. I encourage those who can make it to go, always a good experience training with Sensei Grant

17.01.2022 This morning Jamie got class started with kata. Khayden was a great help with the 8th and 9th kyu grades while working through basics. We covered our advanced strikes, Mae Geri and mawashi geri. The second class we broke into kata groups to work on techniques in the kata. We returned and did a made up kick kata.... We finished the class with basics and side kick. See more

15.01.2022 Learning and working through katas. Takes time to learn katas and a life time to perfect.

15.01.2022 Sequences grade appropriate

15.01.2022 Trusting everyone has had a good holiday break. Training at panania will begin again this comming Saturday 9/1/21. This year there will be a 9am class for white and yellow belts covering basics and first kata. There will then be a 930- 1015 class for all grades. A third class from 1015- 1115 will be more advanced techniques.... Have posted some grading pics I found from last year to inspire everyone. Be aware we are back to restrictions with covid.

14.01.2022 Beginnings of bassai dai

13.01.2022 This mornings class began with Chloe leading kata. The first class we went through grading sequences. After a drinks break we worked on a technical par of bassai dai. We finished the class working on side kick.... Second class we went through cat stance sequences. Lower grades worked on sumo stance and long fighting stance. We then worked on a technical part of saifa. Focusing on one part of a kata and aiming to create muscle memory can be a better trading method than just doing the whole kata. We finished the class working on back kick. A reminder to click the link and sign up for the seminar.

13.01.2022 Different kata groups. Sensei Brian was working with the new students with basic blocks and punches.

11.01.2022 Higher grades working on seuinchin and bassai dai

09.01.2022 Working through technical parts of different katas

09.01.2022 Jaime has her work cut out. Leading seuinchin, bassai dai and basics to the count. Due to social distancing orange belts and below worked through basics while other grades did their kata.

08.01.2022 Back to the wall defence

08.01.2022 this morning Jaime led kata to get class started. We put mirrors in front of the class (instant feed back) and went through our basics. We focused on completing each technique before moving to the next. As mentioned in class we need to focus on completing kicks and not short cutting the finish of our kicking movement. With our shuto strikes we need to keep the elbow high.... Second class we concentrated on basics. We worked on 3 kicks off the same leg which also made us concentrate on our balance. We finished with working in groups on grading katas.

07.01.2022 This mornings class with Jaime leading kata. We had mirrors out the front in the first class this morning. We worked on hip movement. The mirrors have instant feed back. We went through kicks and sequences. Second class we worked on cat stance and sumo stance sequences at 45degrees. We finished with application of the sequences. As discussed we need to focus on the leg preparation and foot position with our kicks.

07.01.2022 Saturday morning karate saw Jaime leading kata to begin the class. As we were close to full the first class did minimal movement. Plenty of basics and changing up som combos to make people think. Second class we worked on short parts of our kata. It is good to break the kata down and work on particular techniques. We finished the class with Sensei says. Today Jayce was the victor. Well done Jayce.

06.01.2022 Working on a couple of techniques in bassai dai under the eye of Sensei Aaron

05.01.2022 Hi all, We are back at the halls training as from today. Please check out the timetable below. Student numbers are limited so please contact your instructor to book a class. Maybe check your own facebook dojo page for their details. Some classes aren't available yet and in some areas, we may have to change venues, but we will get through these changes and ensure you get to train as often as you'd like. You may also get an email shortly confirming this and the reactivation of ...your Direct debit. Please bring joggers to train in, your own water bottle and Hand santitiser. It will be great to see everyone back at training and i will catch up with you at one of my Dojo visits. Until then, Happy training!!!! See more

05.01.2022 This morning Chloe led kata for both classes. We had a longer focus on kata this morning as we had a visitor, Sensei Aaron. He was able to give some feed back during and after class to students. We went through stance work in the first class. Sanchin and cat stance were the focus. We made sure our stances were locked in. After kata in the second class we went through our kicking techniques. We were working on the set up and retraction of the kicks. We then went through som...e kick sequences. The class ended with working on our shikodachi at 45 degree angles. Our white belts focusing on their basics including Zen kutsodachi. Congratulations to Christian and Joshua who graded to 9th kyu. Also congratulations to Brodie and Levi who graded at the last grading. Last of all a reminder that panania dojo will be closed over the long weekend. For blue belts and above consider Georges Hall Thursday night class which Sensei Robert instructs. Also for next Saturday look to train at chipping norton. Sensai Robert also instructs at this class. Finally we are looking at moving to a central dojo as discussed in class. Floor mats, kick bags/ dummies are things to look forward to. Also being able to train 7 days a week. Will keep you posted as we learn more.
