25.01.2022 Hello to all GKR Karate instructors, As we come to the end of this most unusual year, I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank every one of you for ...the loyalty, support and commitment you’ve shown to both the club and your students this year. Whether it was putting your hand up to run some Zoom classes, staying in touch with your students during class closures, modifying your class structures and protocols to conform with Covid-safe directives, or just being available to resume your teaching role as soon as we could re-open after lockdowns...your enthusiasm for making the best out of a difficult situation has been remarkable. If this year has brought about any positives, then by far the most encouraging one for Kancho and I has been seeing the team spirit of the GKR Karate community in action across the country (and around the world). You’ve all played an important role in keeping everything and everybody connected over these past 6+ months and for this we feel truly humbled and extremely grateful. 25.01.2022 STATE TEAM OPEN NIGHT POSTPONED Due to an issue out of our control, the State Team Open Night planned for Sunday 11th April at Mansfield will not be able to go ahead. We will postpone and it will instead run on our second open date: Sunday 2nd May. As this is late notice, please pass on to anyone else who was intending to come along. Our apologies and look forward to seeing you in May!

25.01.2022 OPEN SENSEI CLASS !! Ever wondered what it's like to train like a Sensei ?, how would you like to train with your Sensei ? During the Month of January the Region 10 Instuctor class will be open to all students. Not only can you kickstart your training for the new year but you can do it like a Sensei ! See you there.

25.01.2022 Zoom Class update !. With most of our weekday classes now available (and the remaining to start within the next week) and the Senseis who have been taking Zoom classes now resuming physical classes, our Zoom sessions will cease as of Monday the 20th of July. I would like to thank the Senseis for taking the time and effort to run the Zoom classes until we were able to get our physical classes running again. You have been Awesome !! We all look forward to seeing you in the Dojo !!

Most classes will restart from Monday the 4th of January, some will be resuming later. Please read the timetable to know which classes are restarting and when. 13.01.2022 Life has thrown us a temporary curve ball, but that doesnt mean our health, fitness, self-defence skills or enjoyment of karate has to end. During this peculi...ar period, GKR Karate is bringing the dojo to you. Online classes for all grades and ages, covering all facets of training; and all classes are designed with limited space in mind. There is no reason why your skills and fitness cant continue to improve right now. It just requires a tiny bit of self-discipline on your part to get the ball rolling. And the beauty of self-discipline, is its only difficult for a few minutes, because after this, motivation to keep going kicks in.

12.01.2022 Good afternoon R10 Students and Parents, A recent press release went out this morning regarding some new restrictions within the Brisbane area. These restrictions refer to Gatherings in private homes and public spaces, however these limits do not apply to businesses operating under a COVID Safe Plan. ... GKR operates under a Covid safe plan and is able to continue to operate as normal. To continue to assist us to operate within our Covid Plan a reminder of the following:- 1. Keep social distancing of 1.5m 2. If you suspect you have any symptoms stay home and get tested. 3. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer frequently. 4. 10.01.2022 Great News !!! This morning our Premier announced that the lock down for the Greater Brisbane area will end at 6pm tonight with some restrictions continuing until January 22nd. This means that our classes will resume on Tuesday 12th January, operating under our COVID Safe Plan that we have had in place since the beginning of lock down!... This easing comes with a mandate for the next 10 days stating that a mask needs to carried at all times and worn when out in public. What does this mean for our Dojo's:- We will require everyone (Sensei's and Spectators included) to wear a mask before and after class. You can remove your mask whilst training if you want to. Children under 12 years and people affected by a medical condition or disability are exempt. Standing Bow, No Kick Shield/Focus Mitt work, No Partner work, No Sparring and No Kiai's. We are still operating under our COVID Plan which means everybody needs to scan our Contact Tracing QR code when signing in and fill in the required details. This is a must with no exceptions as it required by law for us to operate. Continue to Sanitize as often as needed and keep safe Social distancing. If you are displaying any symptoms to please stay home and get tested as soon as possible As more details come to hand we will update you. See you back in the Dojo !! 10.01.2022 Zoom Class update. With our weekend classes mostly up and running and now with the increase of numbers permitted to train in our classes the Saturday and Sunday Zoom sessions will cease to run effective tomorrow the 4th of July. Zoom sessions will continue for our Monday to Friday sessions.

All classes cancelled today, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Hopefully this is short lived and we get back to normal. As more information comes to hand we will keep you updated. Dear Region 10 Students, Parents and Caregivers, The Queensland Premier announced this morning that the 3 day lockdown of the Greater Brisbane area will end at 12.00 noon today (Thursday 1st April). This means that all of our classes in the Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Moreton Bay and Redlands local government areas can re-commence tonight, and will operate at normal times over the Easter period and beyond. ... Please be aware that facemasks are still required indoors throughout QLD, but they do NOT have to be worn whilst training. We ask that you help us follow the current guidelines by wearing a mask when entering and exiting the dojo for the time being. Our instructors will ensure safe distancing is kept between students during class to support current safety requirements.
