12.01.2022 SUPER LEAGUE UPDATE 1st 2-3 On a glorious warm winters day, Ravens 1st grade started strong with Anthony Meagher adding to his season tally within 5 minutes through the left side. St Patrick's Football Club then settled into the game but Ravens still dominated possession and opportunities in the 1st half. Halfway through into the 2nd half, St Pats equalised through a questionable penalty for a handball which bounced off the Ravens defenders shoulder. Then St Pats pressed f...urther with wind in their sails and scored through a defensive error with the ball being played out and scored a 3rd through another penalty late in the 2nd half when jostling with a Ravens defender. Oscar Porier hit a sweet left strike from the top of the 18 yard box to peg one back but to no avail with St Pats taking the win. Ressies 0-3 Ressies put on valiant display where they were hard hit with injury and conceded an early goal. Once the Ravens ressies settled into the game and strung passes and combinations together, they looked dangerous. Coming out of the 2nd half with momentum, Ravens were rewarded with a penalty but unfortunately hit the post. St Pats capitalized and scored from outside the 18 yard box and finished the game with a late 3rd goal. 05.01.2022 SUPER LEAGUE UPDATE 1st grade 2-0 At a warm Oakleigh Oval, Ravens 1st grade started the stronger with a bulk of possession and were rewarded 27 minutes in with Peter Derkatch neatly finishing a clever ball over the top of the Thornleigh Thunder FC defense. The game slowed towards the middle with the spring heat but Ravens held out the numerous attacks with strong defense and were rewarded with a 2nd goal through coach and Ravens board member Andrew Pearson with a calm finish... from a right side cross and broke his 7 year Ravens drought. With results falling our way, Ravens are still in contention for promotion and the grand final. Ressies 2-1 With the injury toll taking its toll, Ravens ressies played a brave 90 minutes where they opened the scoring through a swift counter attack with a memorable first time finish from Scott Hansford. Thornleigh then equalised middle way through the 2nd half but Paul Kollias scored the winner off another counter attack. 02.01.2022 SUPER LEAGUE UPDATE 1st 4-1 Ravens 1st grade continued their winning streak with a dominant display against Northern HFC on Saturday afternoon where Brendan Darke opened the scoring from a left side attack with Anthony Meagher. Anthony then doubled the score with Northern HFC pegging one back just before halftime. Ravens then came out the stronger in a physical 2nd half where Gus Jamieson hit a powerful 20 yard strike for the 3rd and Luca Locascio finished the game off with a... fourth goal. Ressie 4-3 Ravens Ressies came out of the blocks strongly with former Ravens junior Adrian Porapat opening the scoring on his mid season debut and Edwin Low and Justin Knight scoring to take the score to 3-0 30 minutes in. However, Ressies let the Northern HFC Ressies back in the game with some complacency and letting them level through the 2nd half with 2 set piece goals and deflected shot. But with the last kick of the game, Nikhil Ramrakha scored a header to win the game.
