25.01.2022 Whilst there is potential for parkrun to reopen before the end of the year - this will depend on many factors. There is a lot behind the scenes, and it won't be a matter of just show up and run. Some key points to note, so you can prepare: 1. We need vollies - no vollies, and we won't reopen (so stay tuned when we request them) 2. No barcode box, no barcode folder, no key board - make alternative arrangements or print duplicates (barcodes). Bear in mind the current barcode ...system for each runner is likely to change - stay tuned. 3. If you're running, you MUST be registered, and have your barcode (or whatever else Global parkrun directs) ON YOU. If there's a Covid incident, we have to be able to contact trace, and that's done through your registered email address - if you don't present your 'ID' then we don't know you're there - that could be life-threatening. 4. If you have even the most minor of sniffles or other ailment - STAY HOME. The responsibility will rest with the RD and ED on the day to make some (expected) very hard calls and judgements. Respect these if they involve you. We have an international framework to follow, and it's nothing personal. By all means, if you'd like to step up in advance and volunteer as a future Run Director, send us a FB inbox message - the more the merrier! Until then - keep up the physical activity - and we'll see you when we see you. See more

22.01.2022 July 2020 Volunteer Update Hi there, Welcome to the parkrun Volunteer Update for July 2020.... Whilst we rather-excitedly reopened parkrun New Zealand at the beginning of July, since then we’ve not been able to schedule the return of any other parkrun countries. That doesn’t mean that things aren’t moving forwards positively behind the scenes however, and we do hope that in the near future we’ll be in a position to announce more positive news. Every Tuesday, throughout lockdown, we’ve published an update on each parkrun country’s blog page, and shared that via social media channels. We’ve done this as part of our commitment to keep our communities as up-to-date and informed as possible, and in the meantime we’d encourage everyone to keep an eye out every week for updates relevant to them. Finally, with over 2,000 parkrun events on pause, we thought we’d take this opportunity to reassure all parkrun volunteers that as we look toward the future we remain confident we that going forward will be able to maintain our simple model of event delivery, with volunteers at the heart of everything we do. 21.01.2022 Mark your calendars parkies! parkrun Australia COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update: 5 November Dear all, ... Since we started providing fortnightly updates specific to parkrun in Australia, we promised to send an additional email with any significant developments. Following extensive discussions with the Queensland Department of Sport and Recreation, we have approval to reopen all 107 parkrun and junior parkrun events in Queensland on 28 November. When events reopen in Queensland they will each be required to display a unique QR code for contact tracing purposes and we will be strongly encouraging all participants to sign in. This system currently exists for parkruns in New Zealand and the ACT and is working effectively. For parkrunners in New South Wales and Victoria, we are continuing to make steady progress and intend to provide a further update in our regular fortnightly email next week. This announcement is another significant step forward on the road to reopening parkrun across all of Australia, and we thank you as always for your support and patience.

In addition to that, they may use the various communication channels available to source volunteers (WebFMS, volunteer email appeal, and social media) and respond to offers to volunteer. This is one of the roles where the volunteer does not have to attend the event and, very often, the same person will perform this role for consecutive weeks" (Please note you will receive required support if taking on this role and available to co-coordinate with a friend) If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. Let the countdown begin!

10.01.2022 It's 'not' parkrun BUT it's a great step to motivating our amazing parkrunners https://blog.parkrun.com/au/2020/06/10/notparkrun-is-here/

09.01.2022 As we get closer to the weekend, we understand everyone is missing parkrun. Just a reminder, though some things have relaxed, there is still to be no flocking and sadly no parkrun. We trust that everyone is doing the right thing to protect the reputation of parkrun Australia. Run close to home, with one other if you need to and stay safe. Remember even though there may be no Covid in your area, people are still moving about in between towns. Social distancing is a must.

09.01.2022 Hey Gladstone parkies, great news that we are starting back again, we have missed our parkruns so much. We also have some more exciting news, can you all congratulate Krystal Brown on taking up the Event Director role for Gladstone Qld parkrun. Krystal has a great passion for parkrun and her local community and we encourage all our regular and new volunteers to help support Krystal in keeping Gladstone parkrun the wonderful family friendly event it is.... I'm sure Krystal will do an awesome job, Congratulations Krystal. Phil Dunkley Event Ambassador parkrun

09.01.2022 COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update Dear all, We can now confirm that parkrun events across the world will be suspended until the end of June. Please note that this represents a minimum time-frame for all parkrun countries and we expect most, if not all, closures to be in place for longer.... Despite this announcement of extended closure, our view of the future is increasingly optimistic as the situation continues to change rapidly and dynamically across the world. There is now a definite and positive move towards relaxation of restrictions, and every week we get closer to the point where parkrun events will return to their communities. As lockdown restrictions start to lift across some territories in which we operate, we’d like to thank everyone for not going to their parkrun venues, at parkrun time. Importantly, please do not organise group gatherings of any sort at your parkrun locations until such time as parkrun events have officially returned in your region. This is critical in order to preserve the excellent relationships we have with local communities and stakeholders, as well as to ensure the safety of both parkrunners and other users of the space. We continue to be cautious and thoughtful about parkrun’s return and we will, at all times, consider region-specific national and international government and public health guidance. Whilst parkrun cannot recommence in any territory until the guidance allows, the restarting of parkrun will be a complex and sensitive process. It is imperative that any decision to recommence has the full and widespread support of volunteer teams, and the wider community. A major part of our energy over the next few weeks will be focused on gathering this understanding and insight, which will in turn inform our decision making. Understanding the sentiment and feeling of our volunteers and communities is particularly key, as when the decision is made to restart parkrun, all parkrun events in that region will be required to start. Any events remaining closed would significantly and unreasonably increase pressure on those that open. Volunteer happiness and welfare will always be at the heart of what we do and, prior to reopening any events, we will continue to collaborate with our communities in order to best understand local situations and implement appropriate processes in advance. Thanks for your continued parkrun passion. We are getting through this, together, parkrun Global Limited
