25.01.2022 Southern Flinders Regional Stadium Indoor Challenge Starts Tonight Tonight is the start of the Indoor Challenge where 6 teams will be fighting it out ...for the shield.....the 6 week challenge (spread out over 3 months) will start with Indoor Cricket tonight.....the team that wins by the biggest margin will decide what the next sport will be for all teams to compete in (played on 18th January)....it might be Futsal, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, carpet bowls or cricket again. Games tonight are as follows:- 5.30pm Alana Freer vs "The Pockets" 6.30pm "SAPOL" vs "Chook's Champs" 7.30pm "Wheels" vs "The All Stars" There will be a sausage sizzle & the bar will be open if you're keen to come down and watch (& if you're keen to fill in for a game at a later date let me know) Always a good fun night, everyone welcome...Covid19 Rules and Restrictions apply & please don't attend if you aren't feeling well.

22.01.2022 COVID19 CRICKET UPDATE FOR GLADSTONE WOOLIES BLAST & U13s (Nov.21st-Dec 1st) Please be aware that there will be NO Woolies Blast & U13s cricket training or games next week. Unless things change...at this stage we will have our next Woolies Blast session at 5pm-6pm & U13s training at 6pm-7pm on Tuesday the 1st of Dec.... Re taking your child for a hit....the way I see it IMO you can take your child/family down the nets for a hit after midnight tonight (21st Nov.)....no organised groups/gatherings, no team trainings, no gathering with mates for a hit are allowed. 15.01.2022 Tonight was our last night of the 2019/20 Woolies Junior Blast programme...we had 13 kids throughout the year & although there were a few missing tonight due to illness/unavailabilities we had a very competitive kids/parents game to finish off. There is no doubt Amy Freeth Michael Summers Michael Helen Gaunt Rick Willis Amy Crawford have gained their cricket skills from the fantastic kids I’ve had the pleasure of coaching throughout the programme. I hope the kids had as much ...fun as what I did during the 11 weeks of the programme & I hope they all continue to play & love the great sport of cricket. We invited some of the Woolies Blast kids to come & have a game with the hard ball & it was a huge success....they did a great job. Huge thanks to Rocky River Legend Benny Cleggett & Laura’s A-Grade skipper Rick Willis who the kids are lucky enough to have as coaches/umpires.... Also a special thanks to all the parents who cooked, scored, helped pack up etc etc....BUT biggest to Kim Stevens and her helpers in the bar/kitchen. 11.01.2022 INDOOR CHALLENGE RESULTS 18th Jan. Well it’s fair to say last night we witnessed some brilliant FUTSAL (indoor soccer) skills. The 3 games played its fair to say varied in skill, speed & competitiveness...3 great games . ... In game one the WOODEN SPOONERS stuck to their name (and their place on the table) with a 8-2 lost to the ALLSORTS...Caleb & Ben named player of the game.... in the second game top placed FURY came up against SAPOL and it was a beauty with many highlights throughout the game and it was a cliffhanger with SAPOL winning 2-1 with Nat, Jarod, Henry P and James all playing well. The final game was VERY entertaining with WHEELS winning a tight one 3-2 against the BRUISERS with Michael Gaunt (Helen Gaunt)& Kate Millard being voted best on court with Wheels winning 3-2....special mention Boschy who was also outstanding A huge Thankyou to Helen, Michael Summers & Dan Seidel for their support & to all the players...it was great fun...a good way to spend a Monday Night. As per the rules of the challenge the team that wins their game by the lasted margin chooses the next sporting challenge...well the ALLSORTS have chosen BADMINGTON (you beauty!!!)....so on the 8th of February all 6 teams will be shuttlecocking If you’re keen for a game team leaders are Helen Gaunt, Mick Hawkes, Chook Harslett, Alana Freer, Mick Robins/Kate Millard and Michael Summers...contact them & they may have a spot available for you to come and enjoy the challenge

11.01.2022 INDOOR CHALLANGE (Rd 1 Results) Last week was round 1 of the Challenge where Alana's team took the honors with a whopping 241 run win (236 to -5) against Pockets....with this result (which was the biggest winning margin of the night) Alana's team has decided FUTSAL (indoor soccer) will be the next Challenge game of January 18th. Other games from last week saw a last ball thriller with Jesse's team (with Koby Staker & Ben Flowers starring) getting over the line against Hawkesy...'s SAPOL by 2 runs.....and game 3 saw "The All Sorts" getting over the top of "Wheels" by 38 runs. Thankyou to all the organisers of the teams & special mention to Michael Summers who spent all night behind the bar...very much appreciated along with all the helpers that cleaned up afterwards. 10.01.2022 Day 1 Win 1 Well done to our 2 little champions in the Under 12 SACA Rep Cricket Carnival down in the Barossa (*U14s lost their 1st game by 4runs & U16s start carnival next week) Jobe & Eddie both had a great day & finished up with a 8 wicket win against Para Districts at the Tanunda Oval.... With Mid North needing 66 to win Jobe opened the batting & made 24 (top scored)...he also earlier had 0/7 off 3 overs that he bowled & did a runout. Eddie was wicket keeper for 1st half of innings and looked like Tim Paine and wasn’t required to bat. 02.01.2022 On the weekend many of you would be aware that we lost one our great mates, Matt McCallum, in a tragic accident. On behalf of everyone at the Gladstone, Georgetown & Laura Cricket Clubs we’d like to take this opportunity to pass on all of our love, thoughts & prayers to Heidi, Angus, Eddie, families & friends at this very difficult & terrible time. Matt was, over a number of years, an extremely important part of our cricket clubs....assistant coach, scorer, umpire...basicall...y volunteering for anything that was required....& he followed that up with footy & basically everything community orientated, a brilliant volunteer who would do anything for anyone. We will always love you Matt, We will always miss you Matt, & I can guarantee one thing...we will NEVER forget you Matt.

Our PRESENTATION DAY for the U13s, U16s, Junior Blast & A-Grade Cricket has needed to be CANCELLED.... We apologise for the inconvenience but our President Nathan May & committee believe its the best & safest thing to do under the current environment. 01.01.2022 WOOLIES BLAST & U13’s UPDATE FOR THIS WEEK (Oct 26th-30th) This week WOOLIES BLAST Mon.26th...5.30-6.30pm at Ewart (Gladstone) Oval.... All participants now need to be registered please (playcricket.com.au) UNDER 13s Tues.27th...5pm-6.30pm Training at Gladstone Fri.30th...as soon as we get there is start time (approx.430pm) Main U13 Game at Melrose Oval Younger/Beginners Game at Melrose Primary School (Teams will be selected Tuesday at Training) Any questions call me on 0407 618008

01.01.2022 Under 13 Match Report & UPDATE Last night we headed to Jamestown who once again looked after us beautifully with a great BBQ & refreshments. Due to SAPSASA trainings (& other things) going on we only played 1 game of 11 players (instead of 2 of 9). We batted first & made 5/108 with all 11 batting on a pretty lush town oval....Angus Mc retired on 17 batting at no.5...both openers (Max Flowers & Cooper Seidel) made 11 each (both caught) & Caleb Page made 9 (also caught).... In reply Jamestown made 11/99 in a good run chase. Harry Millard performed a snappy run-out :) Charlie Flavel, Caleb, Chayce Cunningham, all got 2 wickets Harry M, Cooper S, Max F & Archie S all got 1. Was a great night....a good tight win & some great quality cricket. UPDATE...game on this Tuesday. Tuesday Night (10th March) is our last game....there will be no training next week. The game is US vs US (Blue vs White). Teas & Bar will be available as usual....the game will start at 5pm & will be held at Gladstone. EVERYONE IS WELCOME. For those that haven't checked out our U13's "DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR" & come & check them out....they are a brilliant bunch of kids. ALSO......CLUB WINDUP DATE Saturday the 21st of March we will be having our Cricket Club Windup....1pm for a BBQ lunch, a bit of family fun, presentations & maybe a game of indoor for anyone who's keen. Windup will include our U16's, A-Grade, U13's & our Woolies Blast cricketers & families are ALL invited. Please keep the day free & "stay tuned" for more info.
