09.01.2022 BEFORE you buy a e-bike on line or any e-bike kits this what can happen if it not legal ?? that's why we as dealer of e-bikes we sell legal bikes, The 2015 death of Albert Dean May, who was killed when struck by an over-powered e-bike travelling at a speed less than 25km/h, has provided precedent for all future cases of individuals injured by ‘illegal’ e-bikes. The rider of the e-bike was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment, along with having all driver’s licences cancelled and disqualified for a period of two years. Although it is unlikely that on a day to day basis a rider may be stopped, or a business impacted by modifying an e-bike, the long-term ramifications may be dire.
